    I've never thought about painting the backside of a transparent surface like you do. That's such a great idea that I'll have to try

    Being a mostly a landscape oil painter , I recently wanted to paint a portrait, and watched your video and glad I did. You gave me the colors I will need, and altho I will make mine a little more minimal and abstract, I certainly gained a good deal of knowledge. I love your soft voice and will watch more of your videos.. Thank You

      8:59 it happens again. I just checked other videos, the same thing. It still shows very coarse strokes in one frame, and suddenly goes to a super smooth, detailed section of the painting. I am curious to see what happened in between.

    Hi, your way of teaching is very impressive, when you put a brush on your canvas and explain it to the audience that effects the same way on the brain and canvas. Thanks for giving a beautiful video.

      Thank you for the suggestion

    • @danielq.4371
      @danielq.4371 6 років тому +14

      Start dark then middle tones. We're always used to going from light to dark but with oils if you do that your paints will get a "milky" tone.

    • @danielq.4371
      @danielq.4371 6 років тому +5

      Do a quick sketch on paper first. Learn how to "sketch" with your brushes.

      Highlights go last.

    • @6431arshad
      @6431arshad 6 років тому +7

      Put the lighter shade near the darker, then start merging it slightly with the tip of your brush. Then smooth it out with a flat or filbert or small round brush if you are experiment enough.

    great video. the pacing was easy to follow and it was simple and to the point. I do have a question on the greys you had on the pallet for the eyes. What colors are those? at minute 4:54 what are the 4 colors in the middle of your palette? Thank you.
