I saw Billy Sheehan when He was in the group Tallas, they were playing a concert in a high school gym in Batavia NY. I was totally blown away by his skills. He was doing stuff on a bass guitar that only Eddie Vanhalan could go at the time. I remember lighting up a cigarette and standing right in front of one of their giant speakers and thinking this experience was worth losing my hearing. He still is the greatest base guitar player in the world.
Billy is the Man! However, I was fortunate enough to have seen the G3 Tour with Satriani and Vai in Denver when they brought Paul Gilbert along and that was beyond amazing. I wish Paul Gilbert would come back.
I was thinking of jamming with a bass player friend of mine this week. I don't know whether I've just been inspired or lost the will to do it altogether. I'll have to get back to you on that.
I met Bill, Eric, Pat and sadly not Paul D: at a mr big concert i went to a few days back. Billy signed my shirt... Hes a real nice guy. And Eric is ever cooler xD During the concert he came into the crowd and put his hands on my shoulder and sung behind me :DDD
best album i have heard this year so far- Good mix of heavy and lighter tunes with incredible solos and vocals- What is Paul Gilberts new guitar? It looks like an Iceman..
Even on his worst day, Billy Sheehan has more skills than 90% of the bassists out there...that guy is freakin' amazing.
