One topic I'd love to see you chat about in books in bed is the whole topic of character driven stories vs plot driven. Your opinions, thoughts on some books that fall into each category and seeing you talk about the pros and cons of each as well as some recommendations would be a super interesting topic. :)
I've been getting quite anxious at night and I cannot tell you how much this video helped 🥲 this concept feels like chatting with a friend about all things bookish, and I can't think of anything better or more relaxing, so thank you always 💕
Possible topic suggestions! + thoughts on the world of fanfics (differences in pacing/world-building compared to published novels and its most popular tropes i.e. soulmates, hanahaki, etc.) + wearing bookish merch as a way to start conversations and make new friends irl? + how you arrange your bookshelf (is it just vibes?) and keep it clean/dust-free + how to do a buddy read - logistics, pace, discussions, is it even possible? :)
i feel like we always get a new books before bed episode at the right time. it's been a long day of work, i have a few packages to open (most of which are book related) and i needed something to put on in the background--what better than a video that brings me comfort. i honestly do love the night vibe but i didn't realize i was missing it until you said something lol. i usually watch before bed so it just fits, but daytime episodes can't do any harm. thank you for another books before bed!!
Last Read: Fantastic Four (2018) Vol. 1: Fourever by Dan Slott. This was fine for a first instalment, but something felt off about it and I can’t quite put my finger on it, and I don’t recommend this for first-time Fantastic Four readers. Current Read: Rogues by Joshua Williamson. Can’t really say much about because I only recently started it, but it is about a bunch of supervillains pulling off a heist or some criminal act “one last time”. Next Read: Not really sure, I’m kind of a mood reader myself sometimes 😅
it makes me so happy to see you talk and support the library, knowing it's probably pushing a lot of others (who have access to a library) to try them out! i'm currently on the path to becoming a public librarian so it's just really fun to see the library love being spread around haha

I feel like there are three reasons we DNF series'. 1. We 'grow out of them' Sometimes you just feel like you've moved on from a series and you just aren't that interested anymore. It may be due to waiting a long time for a sequel or it could simply be that a childhood favourite isn't as good as you remember. (I personally feel this way about Fourth Wing and Iron Flame, I'm not sure if I want to go on to Onyx Storm) 2. Not enjoying the direction of a story or your favourite character dies. Sometimes a series just changes the main plot or the main end goal and you just aren't as interested in it anymore, and sometimes it can simply be anger at the author for killing off your favourite character (Ash Princess Trilogy, I'm looking at you!) And sometimes it's 3. You just get fed up. Maybe you've just had enough. You lose interest in the story or the characters or maybe you reach the end of a book and you feel satisfied with where the characters are and you don't need any more closure on the book. Maybe it's a book that didn't really need a sequel, or maybe it's a series that was continued later. (A ballad of songbirds and snakes and Family of liars fall into this category for me) Anyway, I think these are three of the main reasons we give up on series. Maybe it's just me but when I DNF it's usually for one of those three reasons. I hope this was insightful and thanks to anyone who took the time to read this. I hope you have a wonderful day
Thanks for sharing your Korean books TBR! I'm especially intrigued by “Lemon” and “Diary of a Murderer”! So, they're on my list now! I wanna read Korean mysteries more! Also, I participated in Koreadathon two years ago and had a great time, so if they held it again I'd love to do it!💚
Last read = Heat Wave by TJ Klune 😍 (soooo sad this was the last book of the Extraordinaries's series, but the ending was perfect so...) Current Read = Jade War by Fonda Lee (just finish the first book last week and... Whoa. I'm obsessed.) Next read = Probably Divine Rivals, because it's coming in French in few days and after months of wait... I will probably just jump into it at the bookstore 😅 For you Korean's books, Almond is amazing ! Hope you'll like it 🤗
I love this style of video! Maybe you could try doing the trend where you talk about books you rated 5 stars but don't think about vs. books you rated 5 stars and think about often :)
The last book I finished was a collection of Grimm fairytales. A couple books I'm currently in the middle of are Chocolat by Joanne Harris and The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith, though I'll admit I haven't been super active with them. I am about to start Matrix by Lauren Groff.
some topics you can talk about: - what are some of your favourite book adaptations? or books you'd like to see adapted? - books you love but don't talk about enough on your channel - bookmark collection run through - pin collection - if you could craft the perfect book for yourself, what elements would it have? (eg: genre, subgenre, tropes, types of characters,..)
i love the duality the red queen series is having at the moment. ive seen multiple people read it recently and be obsessed with for the same reasons youre like nah
CHAPPELL ROAN!!!! long time watcher here! honestly feel like im growing with you. Ive decieded to stop buying books last year and exclusively go to the library and I'm glad we are on this journey together.
Love books before bed - my favorite series of yours! Last - a study in drowning by Ava Reid Current - sky’s end by Marc J Gregson Next - Emma by Jane Austen (re-read) For future books before bed prompts: what are some songs that you associate with a specific book? Example for me - I always think of Heartstopper when I hear the song Waste Your Time by Sub-Radio
My library branch in 2022 went fine free. They got rid of late fees. If you have an overdue book you won't be charged. Your card will just be inactive until you return the book. You also are able to renew books twice which means you can have it for 9 weeks total.
I'm so happy to see the Korean books you're planning to read! I'm trying to branch out into reading more books from different countries, so it'd be really cool to see more of those kinds of topics in the future! I tend to DNF book series if im reading them as they come out... I don't mean to! But because theres often years in between the releases I'm just not so into it anymore by the time the next one comes out... Last Read: Alice in Borderland (manga) - Haro Aso Current Read: Botchan. - Natsume Soseki Next Read: The Light That Blinds Us - Andy Darcy Theo
My last read was Forget Me Not by Willow Winters, current read is The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo, and next read will be probably Dance of Thieves or Twisted Love.
Oh my gosh. I DNF'd it partway through the second. My friend kept pushing me to finish but I was struggling with how much despair there was. It didn't feel like there was any hope. I don't mind dark but this series brought me down. 😅😅
Love this series! And your library haul. I am also so guilty of putting a million books on hold, then they all come in at once and I’m so overwhelmed. My last read was Watch Her Fall by Erin Kelly, current read is True Biz by Sara Novic and my next read is This Other Eden by Paul Harding.
Last Read: Snowglobe by Soyoung Park! Current Read(s): Legends and Lattes, Emily Wilde, A Tempest of Tea, and relistening to The Cruel Prince! Next Read: will depend on how i end up liking L&L but probably will check out Bookshops and Bonedust of the same series, as well as So Let Them Burn by Kamilah Cole.
Last Read: Book Lovers Current Read: Happy Place Next Read: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes Your rating on Happy Place inspired me to catch up on Emily Henry 😅. Love your videos!!
I'm laughing at the idea of having to read Lemon by a lemon tree :D Also, it's great to see someone promoting the use of libraries! You're right, regardless of whether or not we read the books, at least we're supporting them, haha. I enjoyed the style of this video and I actually preferred the earlier filming style, but that's simply because I prefer daylight to darkness lol.
I am not always good at DNFing books but I am great at DNFing series haha Especially after book 1 I feel like I have a good gauge on if I want to continue or if that was good enough for me and I don’t need to see where it goes. Or if it’s the 2nd or 3rd book but it’s a very long series. I’ll see myself out if I’m not loving the books.
For Korean Authors, you recommend “Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop”. I read it and gave it 5 Stars! A topic suggestion is “Things that Book Tubers do that make us Crazy”. For example it makes me nuts when someone reads the entire back or flap of the book from start to finish… That is so boring and no one wants that!! 😮
my last read was alice in wonderland (reread), and as current reads, there's two books, anna karenina (been reading it since february lol) and a book that my therapist recommended (therapy homework 🤧) , and next read, i don't even know, there's a lot of books in my tbr, and yet so little money to buy one 😞 (and before someone says it: no, i don't have a library near me, i barely have bookshops near)
I want to give the Hannah Swensen, Stephanie Plum and Princess Diaries series another chance and maybe finish them. I would love it if you did a video where you read several short books in one day! I would absolutely take part in a short books readathon! I don't use Goodreads anymore. I love Fable! The last book I read was Just For the Summer by Abby Jimenez. I am currently reading Star Wars: Tales of the Bounty Hunters by various authors, A Toxic Trousseau by Juliet Blackwell, Imprudence by Gail Carriger, and A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking by T. Kingfisher. I have so many books on my TBR that I am very excited about, but for the sake of brevity I will just say that I can't wait to get Saint-Seducing Gold, the second book in the Forge & Fracture series by Brittany N. Williams next week! Saying "series" made Siri think I wanted something! I had to say, "No! No, Siri! Go away!" Now I feel like I have to apologize to Siri
Last read: Made You Up by Francesca Zappia Currently Read: The Toll by Neil Shusterman Next Read: either some sort of romance (ya or adult) or light fantasy romance or Brothers Hawthorne. Just something light for after The Toll lol 😂
Ah Jesse!!! I also dnf this series after the second book… I really really enjoyed the first book but then I was disappointed in the second one so I gave up 😭 but I felt bad lol I want to try her new series though ☺️
ahha funny im actually reading brigid kemmerer books rn, i literally finished a heart so fierce and lonely yesterday and goin to read 3rd book next few days, and then start her defy the night trilogy. im enjoying her books so far but they pretty standard ya and insta love. but super easy and fast to read i love that chapters are short. im not into comtemporary books tbh i ve a few on my tbr but dont feel like readin em tbh haha i recently dnfed king of scars and unhauled the grishaverse trilogy, i read the shadow and bones trilogy and six of crows duology back in the day and i had king of scars duology back then but idk why i didnt start it right away i think bc i was just caught up on other books but yeh i had been meanin to every year read king of scars duology so i could be done with the grishaverse books bc i like the world of the books, and this year was finally the one i picked up king of scars a few months ago and idk i was forcing myself to read it even tho i felt like read other books/startin another series, but i got thru the middle of king of scars and i decided to dnf it just bc im just not interested and captivated anymore and just dont care as much. i wanted to read it to complete the whole grishaverse books and bc im curious how its gonna end but ig just not enough to read both of these books which are so big. im also unhauling all the grishaverse books trying to sell em tbh. same thing with all shadowhunter books (her last hours trilogy was it for me tbh i read em but they were soo boring and repetitive and long) plus all these books i just dont see myself re readin em and they take soo much space. i do think i wanna at least read wicked powers trilogy when it comes out but we will see. also i feel like sword catcher is gonna be similar structure to her shadowhunter books so we will see how that goes when i read book1. im also at that phase where ill read a book and ill put it in the pile to unhaul it even if ive enjoyed it bc idk i just dont think ill re read it and plus one less book takin space and no need to keep it. i wanna read red queen series ive book1. im also just buyin sequels after i read book 1. i also wanna try to get books from my local library, they dont have a lot of the books i want etc but for now its better (the library in the city is a bit far and wouldve to spend money buyin metro tickets which is annoyin plus the waitin dates are long but they do have a wide selection of books) it sucks i cant auto renew books in my local library tho :c so only have 21 days to read a book.
Last read: A House with Good Bones by T. Kingfisher Current one: Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L. Wang soooo good 😍 cant stop reading it 😁 Next one: 🤔🤔 that is mystery 😅
Oh no, I’m rereading red queen to continue with the series. I also read the first two and actually I started reading the series because of your recommendation. But it’s ok to move on from series and not finish them, we will finish it for you 😂. Thanks for the recommendation, I really like the series so far 🥰. I almost stopped reading shadow and bone but I want to read six of crows so I just pushed through. I’ll hopefully get to it soon
Jesse, I fully respect your opinion for dnfing The Red Queen series while I loved this series and I recognize the fact not everyone is going to like it . But also lately I’ve picked up Funny Story by Emily Henry I’m very excited and currently I’m reading Wildfire by Hannah Grace . Also I’ve un hauled 10 books that I’m no longer interested in anymore or don’t like and hope that someone else will enjoy it ❤ My last read was Happy Place by Emily Henry, My current read is as I’ve mentioned Wildfire by Hannah Grace, and my next read is either going to be Funny Story by Emily Henry or How To Make Friends With The Dark .
Last: I haven’t finished a book for the year yet😫😫 Current: I’m in Love with the Villainess Vol 1 (light novel) - The anime came out last year in fall and I absolutely fell in love with it! I just had to start reading the light novel! After I finish the light novels, I’ll read the manga since it’s ongoing. Next: I’m in Love with the Villainess Vol 2 (light novel)
my last read was Seven Year Slip, I just started Things we hide from the light and I don't know what I'm gonna read next because I'm in a bit of a slump so I'm really just mood reading
I read books in series pretty quickly, very rare it takes me long. So for me when I DNF a series it's mainly because book 1 was just fine for me and didn't like the characters/stories enough to continue. And with series I have read more books it's mainly because the story doesn't keep being interesting
I liked Red Queen when I was younger and when I finally went to read the second one recently I struggled getting through it sadly. I heard her other series is better though! My last book was you will get through this night by Daniel Howell, current is Emma by Jane Austen, and I think my next one will be the silent patient? Unsure though haha
Last read was Rise of Empire, by Michael J. Sullivan, which is the middle two books in a pretty good fantasy series. Current read is The Magneto War, which is a collection of a late 90s comic book story arc. Next read is up in the air, because real life hit me with some really bad news and reading is not something my brain really wants to do at the moment.
The Carry On series by Rainbow Rowell. I LOVED the first book on the first read but only got a couple chapters in before I put it down. Tried again a year or so later with the first book BUT I didn’t even get though that one on the SECOND read… so I DNFd the series. Guess it just couldn’t keep my interest 🤷♀️
i currently ditched a series after reading the first 2 books because it felt too spicy for what meant to be a YA series. they were really crossing the line where might be "acceptable' for a ya book. to the part where i get uncomfortable
i hated reading red queen, but i HIGHLY recommend the realm breaker trilogy by victoria aveyard, i absolutely love it and i'm sad that i've never heard anyone read it! last read- the titan's curse (reread) currently reading- fate breaker next read- planning on reading funny story!
Last read: House of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski (very hard to get through but I enjoyed it) Current read: Under the Whispering Door by T J Klune (I've been putting it off for so long but I'm loving it) Next read: I'm going to go to my library and find a new nonfiction book to read but I have nothing specific in mind lol
I just finished Bookshops and Bonedust which is the prequel to Legends and Lattes. I thought it was pretty cute. Now I’m reading Michelle Obama’s The Light We Carry. I would really love to hear how you decide if you want to buy a book vs check it from the library.
I think I’m pretty easy going about unhauling books, like you if I really want to revisit I use my library or rebuy them. I’m slowly going through my bookshelf and reading the older books I want to keep and ones I want to donate.
I love that you're in your dinosaur era and going to watch Camp Cretaceous at some point. I love that show! My last read was Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir -- enjoyed it but I am still trying to wrap my head around the story -- and my current/next read will either be A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon or Empire of Exiles by Erin M. Evans.
This is picky, but which do you prefer: long, winding titles (like _The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender_ ) or short, punchy titles ( like _Want_ )? Last: _Beyond the Clouds Vol. 1_ by Nicke (My first manga!) Current: _Spellslinger_ by Sebastien de Castell (cover buy but it's turning out very cool) Next: _Cinderella Six Feet Under_ by Maia Chance (historical "fairy tale" cozy mystery series)
I'm reading through the Riordanverse for the first time. Last read: The Serpent's Shadow Current read: finishing Demigods & Magicians Next read: starting The Trials of Apollo Yeah, I DNF when I lose interest in the plot choices by the author or I can no longer connect with the characters. Last year, I jumped ship on a popular series when the second book dragged too long with a miscommunication.
Always love a new Jesse video even if it's cozy bed vibes while I am at work lolol Last Read: Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson Current Read: The Hemlock Queen by Hannah Whitten Next Read: .....uhm....either Toll the Hounds by Steven Erikson or maybe A Feather So Black....tbd....
I somehow knew it was gonna be Red Queen and I was pre-sad. I get it though. Thoughts on some things you could talk about: how have you been deciding what to buy versus what to get from the library, what are your thoughts on the proliferation of collecter’s edition books- getting out of hand or no?, and also where do you think booktube is headed? It’s changed a lot in your time online, where do you think it will go next?
5:23 I usually finish most series, but saying that there are a few that just wasn't what I thought and gave up. I enjoy hearing about your bookshelf ideas. Library books ..I average reading half. I usually get about 8 thinking that if there were some I decide nope not for me Hopefully a few would be awesome. It is also a way to try out a new author before spending money on them . BTS ..YEAH. I think RM read it. Last. The Last Thing He Told Me..Laura Dave Current .The Finders Jeffery B Burton The Beach Trap Ali Brady
I also dnf’d the Red Queen series after the second book for the same reason and I also have all the books past me believing that I would eventually continue😅
I thought I was the only one who felt that way about the Red Queen series. The third book was a struggle for me to get through, and by the time I got to the fourth book, book three was so bad that I couldn’t read the fourth one. It was painful to think about reading the fourth one.
I think I’m more likely to finish an entire series if it is completed and all books are published and available. If I have to wait a year or more between books I’m less likely to pick up the next one because I feel like I have to reread the previous ones to pick up the details again.
I mostly dnf a series when they become highly repetitive. I read mostly romance, so there are lots of series. But each book needs to bring something fresh. I have found pacing out series instead of binge reading them has helped with burnout. My last read was Bromantic Puckboy by Saxon James and Eden Finley. Next read is Hyde and Seek by Layla Frost, which may be a dnf, but I just feel I need to see it for myself based off of a negative review. Yup I am that person. That would be a good topic: Do you ever feel compelled to read a book after hearing a negative review? Did it go well or should you have listened to the warning?
A topic I'd love to see come up is indie books/authors, and how they're just as good (sometimes better) than trad published books. My Last/Current/Next are all indies, coincidentally! Last read: Until the Stars Fall, by Vanessa Rasanen Current read: The Phantom Flame, by T M Ledvina Next read: An Absolute Bloody Disaster, by Lindsay Clement (reread)
Last read: the girl in question by Tess Sharpe. Absolutely loved this book, super satisfying ending to the story set up in book 1. I think that's the end and if it is then I'm sad but satisfied. Current read: superman dawnbreaker by Matt de la peña. I'm about 20 pages away from finishing this, it's a super short read but it's pretty good. Next read: everyone in my family has killed someone by Benjamin Stevenson. I picked up this book pretty much because of the title.
Last: Alyssa's ring by Julia Gray. Finishing off a series. Current: The poppy war by R.F. Kuang. Reading it for the second time Next: The ocean squid explorer's club by Alex Bell. Continuing a series
We often see continuations of series that feel like unnecessary additions. I wonder if there are any books or series that you actually think could use a sequel/continuation?
I DNFed a series because I didn't love it and it was 11 books long. They changed who the main characters were in each book but kept them connected in one way or another to previous characters. But it started to feel like variations of the same kind of love story. It just was not for me. It would take me a year to get around to the next book, so I got through three books in three years before I let it go, lol.
I absolutely loved Ninth House and am aware that this isn't a popular opinion. When I picked up the sequel I was stunned at how different both books were. I found that Hell Bent was VERY discombobulated and made me question whether I even liked Ninth House😲! On another note, I also wished I stopped reading the Shatter Me series much earlier. I forced myself to finish the series because I mistakingly purchased all of the books after finishing the first. I will never do that again haha :)
I might have to accept that I need to give up on red queen as well. Read the first one, loved it, reread it when the second came out, still liked it but less, read the second, did not love it, forced myself to read the third to finish the series, only to find out there is a fourth one. that was so long ago, I think I need to call time of death lol (though a part of me wonders if I might enjoy the second and third more a second time around with how my tastes have changed) :D
One topic I'd love to see you chat about in books in bed is the whole topic of character driven stories vs plot driven. so true!!
Watching this before I take a daytime nap, so the afternoon filming is perfect 😂
I was thinking that same thing 😂
Almond is sooo good and it's exactly your type of book! Its about grief and friendship
Possible topic suggestions!
+ thoughts on the world of fanfics (differences in pacing/world-building compared to published novels and its most popular tropes i.e. soulmates, hanahaki, etc.)
+ wearing bookish merch as a way to start conversations and make new friends irl?
+ how you arrange your bookshelf (is it just vibes?) and keep it clean/dust-free
+ how to do a buddy read - logistics, pace, discussions, is it even possible? :)
all I have to say that your vibe is so calm ;-; I can literally listen to this man speak for hours.
i feel like we always get a new books before bed episode at the right time. it's been a long day of work, i have a few packages to open (most of which are book related) and i needed something to put on in the background--what better than a video that brings me comfort. i honestly do love the night vibe but i didn't realize i was missing it until you said something lol. i usually watch before bed so it just fits, but daytime episodes can't do any harm. thank you for another books before bed!!
books before naptime
yeah, me too with Red Queen
Last Read: Fantastic Four (2018) Vol. 1: Fourever by Dan Slott. This was fine for a first instalment, but something felt off about it and I can’t quite put my finger on it, and I don’t recommend this for first-time Fantastic Four readers.

I series I DNFed was Wings series by Aprilynne Pike. I read the first two books and didn’t enjoy either of them. 😕 I finally realized, “Why am I trying to finish when I don’t even like the series?” So, yeah. 😂
I’m currently watching Camp Cretaceous and it’s so fun! Hope you enjoy!!!
Last: Princess Princess Ever After by Kay O’Neill
Current: Perfectly Parvin by Olivia Abtahi
Next: I’m not sure yet! The mood reader in me will decide. 😂
Suggestion for future BBB episodes: You could talk NA (New Adult) age category! Why publishers won’t make it, if it should be a thing, etc.
I love these videos. Very cozy, hanging out in your besties room vibe!

I feel like there are three reasons we DNF series'.

Very well said 🙂
@@YW2324 Thank you, and thanks for reading it :)
@@craftychicken12 Of course ❤️
I couldn't have said it better myself!!
I love this video, i am watching it now before sleep. Thank you.
Yes! The rise and fall of the dinosaurs is so good I’ve read it three times ! It’s so good and I learned so much
The beginning of The Haunting of Tram Car 15 is something else lol but I really liked that novella. Curious to see what you make of it!
Last Read: The Shining by Stephen King; Current Read: Magnolia Parks by Jessa HAstings; Next Read: The STand by Stephen King
How long does it take you to edit?? I love when you throw up book covers and love the style

For you Korean's books, Almond is amazing ! Hope you'll like it 🤗
The haircut looks so good!!
Almond is in my top 3 books I’ve read this year - reminded me a lot of perks of being a wallflower which is my favourite book. I’m sure you’ll love it
I love this style of video!
I am about to start Matrix by Lauren Groff.
some topics you can talk about:
- what are some of your favourite book adaptations? or books you'd like to see adapted?
- books you love but don't talk about enough on your channel
- bookmark collection run through
- pin collection
- if you could craft the perfect book for yourself, what elements would it have? (eg: genre, subgenre, tropes, types of characters,..)
About Matt Haig, one of my favorite books ever is How To Stop Time. I highly recommend it.
i love the duality the red queen series is having at the moment. ive seen multiple people read it recently and be obsessed with for the same reasons youre like nah
CHAPPELL ROAN!!!! long time watcher here! honestly feel like im growing with you. Ive decieded to stop buying books last year and exclusively go to the library and I'm glad we are on this journey together.
Love books before bed - my favorite series of yours!
Last - a study in drowning by Ava Reid
Current - sky’s end by Marc J Gregson
Next - Emma by Jane Austen (re-read)
For future books before bed prompts: what are some songs that you associate with a specific book? Example for me - I always think of Heartstopper when I hear the song Waste Your Time by Sub-Radio
Perfect 👍🏻. I was looking for a video like this . Love your videos 😊
My library branch in 2022 went fine free. They got rid of late fees. If you have an overdue book you won't be charged. Your card will just be inactive until you return the book. You also are able to renew books twice which means you can have it for 9 weeks total.
I read the two first books in red queen as well but haven’t continued 🥹
I am currently reading House Of Flame And Shadow. It is a big book and I like to have the audiobook for most big books I read.
Last Read: Alice in Borderland (manga) - Haro Aso
Current Read: Botchan. - Natsume Soseki
Next Read: The Light That Blinds Us - Andy Darcy Theo
My last read was Forget Me Not by Willow Winters, current read is The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo, and next read will be probably Dance of Thieves or Twisted Love.
ALMOND IS SO GOOD! one of my favorite books from last year it really stuck with me
Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs is so good. I had to get the Folio Society edition. I have The Monster's Bones but haven't yet read it.
I love this series!!
Urban Fantasy novella recommendation: When Among Crows, by Veronica Roth. I just read it and LOVED IT.
Oh my gosh. I DNF'd it partway through the second. My friend kept pushing me to finish but I was struggling with how much despair there was. It didn't feel like there was any hope. I don't mind dark but this series brought me down. 😅😅
Last: A Tempest of Tea by Hafsah Faizal. Current: We Could Be Heroes by Mike Chen. Next: The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune.
A 8:12 I love the idea of a short book readathon
My current read is "The panama papers" (nonfiction), which I am interrupting with binge reading Heartstopper :D
Hope you enjoy L&L!
Last Read: Book Lovers
Current Read: Happy Place
Next Read: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
Your rating on Happy Place inspired me to catch up on Emily Henry 😅. Love your videos!!
I'm laughing at the idea of having to read Lemon by a lemon tree :D
Also, it's great to see someone promoting the use of libraries! You're right, regardless of whether or not we read the books, at least we're supporting them, haha.
I enjoyed the style of this video and I actually preferred the earlier filming style, but that's simply because I prefer daylight to darkness lol.
I went to the library today and have 8! I'm stoked!
I actually binge read Red Queen around the pandemic time since I never finished the series either. I still think the first book is the best.
I really loved Lemon ❤ I hope you find time for it 😊
Idea for future episode:
Share some of your favorite bookmarks with us (I love bookmarks ❤) - could be a small segment "bookmarks with ghosty Mark"
The smile that came on my face when you started singing Chappell Roan🥰
Last read: The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer. Current Read: Murder in the Crooked House by Soji Shimada. Next Read: Not sure yet!
Last read: Made You Up by Francesca Zappia
Currently Read: The Toll by Neil Shusterman
Next Read: either some sort of romance (ya or adult) or light fantasy romance or Brothers Hawthorne.
Kingfisher
Current one: Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L. Wang soooo good 😍 cant stop reading it 😁
Next one: 🤔🤔 that is mystery 😅
Oh no, I’m rereading red queen to continue with the series. I also read the first two and actually I started reading the series because of your recommendation. But it’s ok to move on from series and not finish them, we will finish it for you 😂. Thanks for the recommendation, I really like the series so far 🥰. I almost stopped reading shadow and bone but I want to read six of crows so I just pushed through. I’ll hopefully get to it soon
omg you should totally do a short book reading vlog where you put aside that time to knock them out
Jesse, I fully respect your opinion for dnfing The Red Queen series while I loved this series and I recognize the fact not everyone is going to like it . But also lately I’ve picked up Funny Story by Emily Henry I’m very excited and currently I’m reading Wildfire by Hannah Grace . Also I’ve un hauled 10 books that I’m no longer interested in anymore or don’t like and hope that someone else will enjoy it ❤
My last read was Happy Place by Emily Henry, My current read is as I’ve mentioned Wildfire by Hannah Grace, and my next read is either going to be Funny Story by Emily Henry or How To Make Friends With The Dark .
Last: I haven’t finished a book for the year yet😫😫
Current: I’m in Love with the Villainess Vol 1 (light novel) - The anime came out last year in fall and I absolutely fell in love with it!
I also DNF’d Red Queen so I’m glad I’m not alone!
I would love to hear recommendations on graphic novels that aren’t 100 book long series 😅
i hated reading red queen, but i HIGHLY recommend the realm breaker trilogy by victoria aveyard, i absolutely love it and i'm sad that i've never heard anyone read it!
last read- the titan's curse (reread)
currently reading- fate breaker
next read- planning on reading funny story!
Last read: House of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski (very hard to get through but I enjoyed it)
Current read: Under the Whispering Door by T J Klune (I've been putting it off for so long but I'm loving it)
Next read: I'm going to go to my library and find a new nonfiction book to read but I have nothing specific in mind lol
I just finished Bookshops and Bonedust which is the prequel to Legends and Lattes. I thought it was pretty cute. Now I’m reading Michelle Obama’s The Light We Carry. I would really love to hear how you decide if you want to buy a book vs check it from the library.
Can we talk about Jesse holding and fanning out two books with one hand was low key impressive.
1_ by Nicke (My first manga!)
Current: _Spellslinger_ by Sebastien de Castell (cover buy but it's turning out very cool)
Next: _Cinderella Six Feet Under_ by Maia Chance (historical "fairy tale" cozy mystery series)
I'm reading through the Riordanverse for the first time.
Last read: The Serpent's Shadow
Current read: finishing Demigods & Magicians
Next read: starting The Trials of Apollo
Yeah, I DNF when I lose interest in the plot choices by the author or I can no longer connect with the characters. Last year, I jumped ship on a popular series when the second book dragged too long with a miscommunication.
Always love a new Jesse video even if it's cozy bed vibes while I am at work lolol
Last Read: Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson
Current Read: The Hemlock Queen by Hannah Whitten
Next Read: .....uhm....either Toll the Hounds by Steven Erikson or maybe A Feather So Black....tbd....
last: crescent city 1. current: crescent city 2. next: crescent city 3
Last. The Last Thing He Told Me..Laura Dave
Current .The Finders Jeffery B Burton
The Beach Trap Ali Brady
I also dnf’d the Red Queen series after the second book for the same reason and I also have all the books past me believing that I would eventually continue😅
I thought I was the only one who felt that way about the Red Queen series. The third book was a struggle for me to get through, and by the time I got to the fourth book, book three was so bad that I couldn’t read the fourth one. It was painful to think about reading the fourth one.
Have you read the Jurassic Park duology? Audiobook versions are really good 🦖🦕
I think I’m more likely to finish an entire series if it is completed and all books are published and available.
Ooh i love this video concept! ❤
A topic I'd love to see come up is indie books/authors, and how they're just as good (sometimes better) than trad published books.
My Last/Current/Next are all indies, coincidentally!
Last read: Until the Stars Fall, by Vanessa Rasanen
Current read: The Phantom Flame, by T M Ledvina
Next read: An Absolute Bloody Disaster, by Lindsay Clement (reread)
Last read: the girl in question by Tess Sharpe. Absolutely loved this book, super satisfying ending to the story set up in book 1. I think that's the end and if it is then I'm sad but satisfied.
Current read: superman dawnbreaker by Matt de la peña. I'm about 20 pages away from finishing this, it's a super short read but it's pretty good.
Next read: everyone in my family has killed someone by Benjamin Stevenson. I picked up this book pretty much because of the title.
Red Queen is not just bootleg of other fantasy it's waste of space, papers, tree, time, energy literally everything 🐼
Last: Alyssa's ring by Julia Gray. Finishing off a series.
Current: The poppy war by R.F. Kuang. Reading it for the second time
Next: The ocean squid explorer's club by Alex Bell. Continuing a series
I loved the Polar Bear Explorers' Club!
@@atlantisfrost52 it's great!
