The Duchess of Cambridge wins the hearts of a class of Danish pre-schoolers during a visit to a forest kindergarten, with some children proudly presenting her with sticks while one child simply hugs her after she joins them in chopping small bits of wood.

Just terrific with children! Children know right away if an adult is approachable and Kate always exudes that to children --- the child hugging her feels safe enough to do that! Really lovely to watch! And clearly she is a great Mom!

I like how children are drawn to her, none of them were shying away.
Always trust a child's instinct. Those kiddies were watching her and summing her up. They would have either looked away or walked away if the vibes were off for them. And the spontaneous hug says it all. I know it's a pain when people compare Catherine with Markle, but I'm reminded of the kiddies in various visits who were either showing signs of discomfort with Markle or literally turning away from Markle, showing their assessment of her.
Yes or those kids who were encouraged by Harry to hug Meghan but they didn't want to... and then instead rather hugged him! There were a few occasions where you could hear him say "do you want to hug her" or "you can hug her" pointing towards Meghan (I guess they wanted those pictures) But not always did the children want to...
She's at her very best when she's with small children. Truly in her element! She's such an asset to the Monarchy and to the Windsors.

This was really beautiful and heart awarming. The Duchess of Cambridge is so natural with children. Probably because she has three small children herself. I also like that she always dresses appropriately for events. Catherine seems really friendly
She has also been fortunate to have grown up in a settled, happy family.
Hopefully, this does not exceed her intellectual abilities, although they are at such a low level!!

Kids don’t just randomly hug people, especially if they don’t even speak the same language. This shows Kate has something beautiful and kind about her that children can sense and gravitate toward.
HRH Catherine Duchess of Cambridge is such a natural with children, they are drawn to her like moths to a flame. She is never condescending or patronising to them & gets down to their level. She gets on with adults just as well, with impeccable manners & just the right amount of deference when required, as with Queen Margrethe II of Denmark a Cousin of her Grandmother in law. It's no surprise Catherine is a favourite with many of the European Royal Courts, she is unpretentious & will happily go along with whatever is arranged for her visit. Very much the UK's Jewel in the Crown, with no disrespect to the other Senior Royal Ladies.

No one could do it better than The Duchess when children are involved even though she didn’t speak their language the children still interacted and one even brought her gifts (twigs) another a big hug. Yes she is not only beautiful on the outside but clearly on the inside too.

Kate is amazing she's very sweet caring humble compassionate patient and understanding. What I love about her is she's a good listener and she always kneel down to look the children and their eyes when she talks to them. She does the same thing with her children hard working and she loves the work that she does. When that child say to Kate he love her and hugged her and Kate hug the child back and said I love you too that just shows what type of queen that she will make someday. When we see Catherine surround herself with children, this is when she shows how warm and compassionate she really is. She was born to do this role and when you see the way she behaves towards these children, it's easy to see why she was born into this life. She never puts a foot wrong and everything she does is so natural, it's like second nature. There are no awkward moments or no standing back letting others get on with it, she is always at the forefront of the conversation and actions. This is how a Duchess behaves and not just for show, it's lovely to see the connection she has with the people she meets. She is a brilliant addition to the RF, and I'm not a royalist.

Great video. Shows what our American kids are missing. You'd never see little ones handling knives here. I was a Girl Scout leader and anything that could possibly hurt them was forbidden to be taught, like whittling. Kate is a great ambassador for the UK.
I am 81 years old and was raised in South Carolina. Back then my grandfather would whittle and he got me a little knife and he and I would whittle away, such fun, also played outside in the field behind his house digging in the dirt, making mud pies and taking clumps of a wild weed that had yellow flowers and creating the outline of a house and walkway. Put a wild onion long piece down a doodle bug hold to try to catch him and then put him back. There were all sorts of fun things to do. One day my mom gave me a long handled tablespoon and said go out under the oak tree and dig a hole to China. I had so much fun digging that hole about 3 inches in diameter, but soon I was down deep to my shoulder and my mom smiled and showed us a picture of China and told us how far away it was. It was a hot summer day and she wanted us to play more under that shady oak tree. Lots of times she would let us help her plant her favorite flower, irises. She had every color and when I see them in the garden, my mothers face is there. I tried to teach my children many of these things, I loved play marbles as I got older. Pick up jacks. Children today only are given a hand computer and ignored. Not all,but a great deal. I just saw on tv the other day that it hurts their brain development. Parents are different now,. Sad.
My heart is warmed watching Catherine interact with children! She is such a natural!
I trained to be a nursery nurse, in the UK, and we studied Danish nurseries (in the early 90s) and I was impressed that they allowed children to use tools like hammers and saws - makes the children independent and respect the tools! We molly-coddle our children too much in the UK!

That looks like such a cool camp for the children. I loved being outdoors in the woods when I was little. That one little boy looked completely smitten, he was proffering the twig with pinecones like it was a bouquet of flowers.

That log chopper is a really good design. Would be happy to let children use it and even be good for adults not injuring themselves. Wasn't so sure about the child with the knife whittling the stick. Kate seemed to enjoy her visit and kids looked pleased.
