I traded my VW iD3 for the new Megane E-Tech LE and am very pleased with it. It has a far more premium feel than the iD3 and the inclusion of actual buttons and switches in the Megane is a real game changer for me. The touch screen actually works and so far no glitches. Unlike the iD3 where the touch screen is useless and almost unusable. The Megane is definitely a better car and I'm more than happy with it.
The Megane E-tech is a really nice car to drive especially on Sport-mode it gives you smiles per miles. The ID.3 didn’t gave me the same driving feeling it was boring to drive. Also the Megane is more comfortable. Unfortunately i’m stuck with a VW for Three years leas then i will absolutely switch to the Megane. In three years Renault propably make the Megane even better
Worth noting that the UK spec lacks a lot of features when compared to the EU versions,
For example, no ambient light above glove box, no electric seat position adjustment, no automatic parking, smaller centre screen.. such a shame
I'm with you on this one bud👍. I've just ordered an Iconic model. It was a straight choice between the Megage and the Tesla Model 3 for the similar price......no contest!
The Tesla's tech is so dated. Genius Renault turning to the experts for their tech, Google.
By the way, Renault say the 0-60 time is 7.5 Sec, but independent reviewers have clocked it at 6.9 Sec (that's Mini Cooper S territory, but with that lovely instant torque).......how typically French, underplaying!
looking at the techno model but have puegeot 3008 2.0 diesel which drives very well and fairly quite. not sure if its worth changing over, especially constantly looking for 50kw plus charging stations. ...............would you go back to an ICE car
Never would I go back to an OCE car. This is my 4th year driving all electric.
I got mine March 2023. I have done 28,000 km (17,400 miles). I charge at home. Driving range @ speed limit speeds of 380 km (236 miles) Looks and drives great! Especially when using full regen no breaks required on corners! Best car I ever had!
on some you tube videos you hear a whine like a turbo on initial acceleration which sound quite good. Does this happen on yrs
You can choose from 4 different sounds actually :-)
Just realised this drive started at Canford, my son and i are trying to work out who this is
Yeah noticed too, went off down arrowsmith.
I'm looking at getting the iconic, been updated since the video.
Would love if someone could let me know what the motorway range is like? Normal motorway driving about 180km distance with 4 people. Do that semi regularly but most days I only do 40 to 50km.
I get about 180 miles motorway sitting @ 60 mph with some overtaking at 70 mph, 3 adults and a child. That is winter driving with heating, lights, wipers and sound system on.
What dashboard camera do you have there if I may ask? And how is it charged? Thanks
It's one ONTO install in all their cars for security. It takes a photos every 17 seconds apparently.
Never thought James Blunt would be doing car reviews 😂😂
You sound 100% like him bro
Have you driven many other evs?How quiet is it compared to them and a normal ice car (in terms of road noise).
Very low road noise but a bit of wind noise from the mirrors once you reach about 60 mph. Vastly quieter than the Mazda CX30 I had before (and at the time I thought that was a very refined car).
@@TheSilentMiaowthanks that's interesting as we currently have a cx30 which we also think is one of the quietest in its class. Looking at megane, ford explorer and possibly coming kia ev3
do you know how to disable alarm as it keeps going off, also when on a ferry
No, sorry. It is quite temperamental though I have noticed that myself! Call Renault.
You should have got a little booklet with the car which explains the different modes of disablement for the alarm. Ask your dealer if you didn't get it.
@@johnenglish2702 Just to add in this topic, the car's manual is also available digitally on the car's console/display
£800 a month u r having a laugh!!!
Buy one outright then 👍
Why does the UK version have a tiny screen compared to the Euro version?
It is wired the car and all things on the wrong side
Just got mine love the car but would like more miles range
your steering wheel is on the wrong side mate
hi, I need a good advise please, I ordered this car in equilibre version and I just found out it doesn't have the route planner or any apps. Only the more expensive versions Techno and Iconic have apps..
So I can't see chargers, stops, destination percentage... nothing.
It's a deal breaker even with 60kwh battery it's not worth it.
What do you think ?
I have the equilibre - use my phone for route planning & apps - didn't think the Techno worth £2.5k extra - plus more efficient wheels
For the benefit of others..I have the Equilibre version. You have Android Auto so your Google maps, Zapmap, Octopus Electroverse + others all available on the main screen. No problem. You also have the smaller wheels so nicer ride and less chance of damaging your wheels on our potholes.
Do you miss the heads up display? I live in a place where I absolutely have to strictly follow the speed limit, so having the speed immediately visible is crucial for me… How high is the “instrument cluster” for the driver compared to other cars?
Basically it’s the only reason that I think that I have to go for the new id3… Especially since if the infotainment system is like a volvo, it also means that you have to go into the screen to switch between the speed limiter and the cruise control…
Could use the speed limiter to help
The Megane is my first EV. I previously had a Mazda CX30 which had a heads-up display as standard and quite frankly I don’t really miss it. The drivers display in the Megane can obviously be configured, but the mode I usually use has the speed as a virtual dial and also as a figure within a red circle directly in my eye line. The red circle pulses if you drift over the limit (just as the one in the Mazda heads-up display did).
Great video!
