Only 2 videos??!! This guy’s content is better than half of the channels on YT! Great content!!! Let’s push him up! We need more creators that are willing to speak their mind and to provide a voice for disappointed gamers such as us. TO THE TOP!
Yes! He's very talented, has a bright future on YT if he wants to keep at it. Also, I find his personality really chill and calming, like the kind of bro everyone likes because they always have a great time chilling over some beers. My apartment was robbed this Saturday, and this 2 videos somehow calm my anger. Padda is the man.
You have a gift for focusing your honest thoughts and feelings to a razor sharp point that effortlessly cuts straight to the truth of things. I look forward to following along for the journey and seeing where your heart guides you next.
You hit the nail on the head. A lot of people seem to not understand that we aren’t saying we want absolutely no politics in game, we’re saying we want it to not come at the expense of writing and overall quality of the game.
My favorite thing you brought up was Alpha and Beta testing being a tool for smaller developers. It's downright shameful that multimillion dollar companies rely on the same tactics while charging premium prices. Entertainment companies abuse goodwill in ways that no other commercial products can. It's time we respect merit, not intentions.
I found you thanks to Asmon but what kept me here is that youre first youtuber who puts titles of games they show on screen in montages. Finally I can check some good games.
Man, I'm all in on these videos! Could this be the birth of a new thoughtful, reasonable, commentary channel on games industry and culture? It feels like The Act Man channel, but from the point of view of someone that loves games but has other things going on in life, who can't grind a game 8hrs a day, just like most of us. I love how you add the name of the game whenever you show gameplay from that game, it helps for games that I can't recognize via gameplay, having not played them. It's a small detail, but attention to detail is a huge thing for making a high quality anything. The SA accent is also nice.
You've inspired me, brother! I'm a full time business owner who plays video games as my primary hobby/past time and passion. It's been my passion since I was 5 in 1985. I'm going to start my own channel now, Old Man Gaming, and it's because of you and your success. Well done brother, catch ya on the flipside!
Its not that developers got lazy, first of all devs have literally no power in game studios anymore. The genre and ... of a game is picked by marketing and executives. Releasing the game is also done by marketing and executives, we know about almost all bugs you experience in game. It's just that we focus on bugs that format your entire pc and crash the game rather than a character glitching or t posing. We, devs are more frustrated about state of games than you, players. But unfortunately we can't do anything about it. Jason Schreier have a new book that will release soon which explain how things worked in Blizzard, for example one of the executives come from a cheese factory and when devs told him they need time he simply said create another assembly line like how he did in cheese factory and double the output. To them just watching a slide show of image on screen = a functional game ready to release so gamers can give them billions of dollar. Also if you become an experience dev you're going to get fired because new guy can work for much cheaper.
I'm glad to see someone talking about this here. I liked the video in general but that part of the video didn't feel right, it reminded me of some people saying that the VFX studios working for Marvel are "lazy" because the CGI looks bad, when in fact what is happening is that the VFX artists are overworked and underpaid, trying to meet a ridiculously short deadline while fearing the very real possibility of being laid off.
Great vid, bro! It is CRITICAL that people tie their complaints with financial retribution. This thirst economy we seem to be stuck in is only in our own heads. Please keep the casual gamer's perspective alive.
8.88k! I think I might start my own channel. I've been thinking about it, but that slog to 10k seems so steep! Thanks for making it look easy for a change. I realize now that the internet is still new, and 1 data point can still swing things considerably, despite the apparent flood of BS we currently experience.
Gotta say, it's refreshing seeing someone putting what a big part of the gaming community thinks in a calm and thoughtful manner. Thanks for the video and keep the awesome work!
Constructive tip, do you believe that the red bars around the thumbnail really need to be on the thumbnail? It's just that they (at least the bottom bar) can create the impression that it's a video I've already seen (the red bar when this happens is similar).
Good video, too. I just think your first video had more focus, because you provided a distinct view of the "casual gamer", which I think was nice. In this second video you are talking about the problems in the industry more broadly, which we have already 100s of other creators doing. So for me it would be great if you could keep the focus on your "casual gamer" view, which helps yourself to distinguish from other channels. I wish you much success! :D
May I suggest you a topic? Games that were loved and well-received by fans but were discontinued/studios disbanded. I'm talking about Hi-Fi Rush and Days Gone situation, for example. These are bizarre and I still struggle to understand why this happened. They sold a lot of copies (HiFi Rush won best audio design at GOTY awards) and corpos still didn't find the need to continue. Meanwhile, Sony spent 400mil on Concord, and we all know how that ended.
Not sure of the validity of this rumour (can't even remember where I heard it), but apparently the Hi-Fi devs were told to make a live service game, and they refused. So they were shut down. On a happier note, they got bought by PUBG's KRAFTON, so they're not dead. I'm sure there's more stories like this that need to be told, it would be a great video!
@@Amrai And wasnt it the case for Days Gone that a Sony higher up said something like: If gamers wanted Days Gone 2 they should ve bought more copies. Like i don't think it was a flop, but it didnt earn enough for them. Similar for Kindom of Amalur: The Reckoning. It made a profit, but the team was disbanded because needed to make MOAR moneys!
@MrTomaat23 it wasn't a higher up Sony person that said it as far as l know. Of course one could have repeated this remark. The gane's developer and director mentioned about it in an interview. He said he often gets asked why there wasn't a Days Gone 2? The conversation always goes along the lines of this. Why didn't you make Days Gone 2? I'm glad you liked it. Had the game at launch hit the numbers TLOU, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man hit there would have been a sequel. Microsoft are putting games on PS because the games will not make much on Xbox. Why pay $60 per game when you can play on Gamepass for a flat fee for ALL AAA games? Effectively the Gamepass subscribers are voting with their wallets and saying I won't pay these high prices. Yet they expect the very best of everything and same as what people that pay full price get. I want Days Gone 2, but will wait for it to be half price and cheap. Where is the incentive for Sony to make it?
@@MrTomaat23it's like how WOTC made changes after having 100% sales growth and telling their people "we want 100% sales growth every year" like dude your market is only so big. If you're making a profit then you're making a profit
Back to back banger!. Keep it up man. Insane how good your first two videos are, nailing both context and editing. As a gamer since almost 30 years ago, your points are very valid. It's sad to see how things have gone from back then till current day, but also very thankful for the smaller and indie dev studios throwing out amazing gems due to passion.
I think there's two really great statements made in this video: 1. It's not that we don't want politics, we just want agency and not have one extreme point of view shoved in our face. 2. They'll keep making it if we keep buying it. We have to vote with our wallet. I hope more people can understand these fundamental things, and our entertainment industry can course correct.
Now do a part 3 with companies enforcing ridiculous patenting claims that ruins creativity, destroys business startups, enforces monopoly and disappoints gamers by forcing legal and financial oppression on startup studios with games that are actually widely enjoyed(yes, Nintendo and Palworld; Take Two with GTA VI and the Nemesis system to name a few of these as examples). I appreciate how well articulated and objectively placed your explanations are and you are doing everyone else a big favor with all these videos.
You've hit on everything I've been feeling about games for a while now. A lot of the unfinished games are because the Shareholders want their money now and they push the developers to get the game out as soon as possible to fatten their wallets. They don't care what state it's in. Most of the time you're basically buying into the equivalent of the Early Access version of a AAA game and these Shareholders know that their consumers will buy into that. Early Access is more for Indie Developers so they can get the funds and the feedback to help create their games. AAA Companies already have the funds they need. AAA companies have no excuse for putting out buggy half-baked messes. They have the funds and they have the developers, or well they used to have good developers, to create a game and ship it in a stable form. As I've said before, the AAA companies have been around so long and have grown too big so they have lost touch with reality and their consumer base. They can't handle criticism anymore because they've hired all these thin-skinned activists to cater and pander to a minority of the gaming consumer base. Because the Shareholders are so detached from their consumers they can't understand why their consumers are upset with their developers becoming heavy handed with their agendas instead of writing great narratives and fantastical stories. Indie games are doing so well because they are games created by small groups of gamers who were looking for something that hasn't been played yet. Game Designers for AAA companies used to be avid gamers too and loved what they are doing. Now it's just Paycheck to Paycheck and just another job for current AAA Devs. It's a stressful slog for them now. With time-windows and number crunches. AAA = In for the Money (EA, CAPCOM, UBISOFT, NINTENDO, ACTIVISION, etc) Indie Developers = In for the fun and enjoyment, and their consumer bases. (Stardew Valley's ConcernedApe, Palworld/Creativerse's Pocket Pair, HumanitZ's YoDubzz Studios) I think Game Companies have a shelf life and most of the AAA companies now have reached theirs. They are no longer True Game Developers and have regressed into Greedy Corporations in search for the almighty dollar. Not only do I believe they have a shelf like but they also have a size limit. If they grow to be too large of a company they lose a lot of creativity and care for their games because the consumers are no longer a priority for them. Their consumers take a backseat to their shareholders. Their egos have grown so large that they think we need them, but it is the other way around. Without us they don't get paid. Greed kills and Ubisoft is a prime example of this right now. Activision and Bethesda were almost in the same boat until they were bought out by Microsoft. And they still aren't doing so hot. I remember when the Big 3 B's, Blizzard, Bethesda, and Bioware, were great once. Now they are awful greedy shadows of what they used to be. To be fair, Bethesda stuff was always a buggy mess, lol. Sorry for the novel. Just this all hit so hard, right on point. I just hope everything happening right now is opening a lot of people's eyes and the message gets across to these greedy corporations that their consumers have had enough. Before things get even worse. I've wondered for a long time now that how long it was going to take for gamers to finally get fed up with all these shitty business models and lash out.
Yes, my thought exactly! Especially how well thought and reasonable the commentary is. No hyperbole, no distracting with toddler "high-energy vibes", no padding. Just chill and thoughtful content from someone who clearly loves gaming.
Only two videos and both are massive W's. Congrats! Hope the algorithm spreads your channel far and wide, this message needs to be echoed across the industry.
Hell yeah dude. I'm here for it. The corporate model doesn't mix well with making a great game. Not because of pressure, but because of corporate minded folks. You cant be a classic HR model of a human and make great games.
The fact that you have nearly as many subscribers as views with only two videos speaks volumes. You are speaking from your heart. Glad you decided to ask asmongold to react.
Came here from Asmongold, i love the bald man but didnt want to watch a 45min version of a 15min video (part 1) but thank you Asmongold for playing this guys vid. Great takes, great editing. Youre crushing it and im subbing for more vids and support! Goodluck!
Last comment, I promise: Metal Gear Solid is an example of a game series deeply entwined with political themes done right. In fact, the deep political themes are one of it's special ingredients, because it doesn't force those views on the player, it tackles politics in a non-preachy way, and Focuses on geopolitics. When we players say we don't like politics in games, for the most part, that's not what ewe mean. We mean we don't want dumb culture war themes in our games. Culture war is to politics what olives are to pizza: insignificant waste that most don't care about, but somehow never goes away.
Spec Ops: The Line is a Single Player shooter narrative masterpiece. Gameplay is OK, the story and "that moment" are top-notch 👌 A must for those that love the old COD campaigns!
I'd love to stop supporting all those publishers who force their studios to puke out games riddled with the array of issues you mentioned in your video, and I'm doing it - for the most part. There are still occasional AA or AAA studios that somehow manage to pull through against all odds, surprisingly belonging to the likes of ATVI, EA or even Ubisoft. While I've almost entirely given up on Ubisoft by now, I'll be still supporting the German studio Blue Byte with their Anno games, which so far have been consinstently phenomenal. I think these city building games are mostly unscathed, because the main target audience are dedicated PC players rather than the broad casual crowd targeted by Assassin's Creed, CoD, sports games etc. And yes, guys, please actively look for Indie games and support their developers! There has definitely been a surge of absolutely fantastic releases over the past couple of years.
More and more indie games reach the scale on which they just outclass AAA titiles in almost all aspects. And the aspect they miss is marketing because the AAA scene puts so much money into that depsite knowing they are selling garbage
I haven't bought a game from EA, Ubisoft, or Blizzard in over 7 years, I haven't regretted that decision once, I know I'm at least doing my part. I did a lot of research on loot boxes, and microtransactions and the more I learned the more disgusted I became, this is hurting the everyone not just me, and if we don't stick together & protect our hobby no one will.
amazing video! (and again, like I said about half an hour ago on the other one. This is an absurdly strong start for a YT channel) PS: you like Indie games, huh? I put a lot of time into "Hollow Knight" and "Death's Door", I can only recommend these two ^^
So on point! This is what many of us gamers are feeling. I get it, from a large company point of, bottom line is all that matters. Where as indies primary goal is to producing a good game
Thing is, the large companies have forgotten that the success of their bottom line mostly depends on gamers buying their product. A lot of them are relearning that fact the hard way, now.
Knocked it out of the park. Again! You tackled some pretty complex topics in a succinct manner dude, made it easy to digest. You’ve clearly given this a lot of thought and it shows! ✨ Great job man!
To be fair to AAA devs on the buggy messes they release, they do lack qualified devs. Dice for example lost key people, after Battlefield V they apperantly had no one that understood the Frost engine properly left on staff (leading to the mess of the next game) and this is not isolated to Dice/EA. Ubisoft is appearntly in a similar situation, they have driven out the old school talent and are now having to outsource critical parts of their games to get them made. These companies are hollowed husks of what they used to be. Blizzard, Dice, Ubisoft and more are already walking corpses attempting to create products that appeal to the culture that they created internally and lacking the talent and vision to innovate or appeal to the mass market.
Nice work, I believe the way you decided to start your first video was critical on the promising and potencial success you can achieve. You made us, the viewers, feel related. We can all agree that making the public feel represented is crucial when it comes to reach more and more people with your product, whether it's a youtube video or a videogame. And it's kind of funny, or paradoxical if you like, that this is one of the many problems AAA games are having, but nevertheless, a big one. We can't feel empathy for games that are pushing political agendas down our throats, and much less feel sorry for the people responsible for such crappy games. We can, however, feel empathy for a guy who has a full time job, a family, and tries to squeeze his loving hobby into his life. Cheers and good luck, please continue to make content that gives voice to what many of us feel, we will be here to support you. We got you.
Fantastic debut videos I think you're a very well spoken and smart person, and I'm thankful that you enjoyed putting this together and will continue to do it, I will absolutely continue to watch it because I certainly enjoyed it too
I am really fond of your content and I especially appreciate your point of view for cutting precisely into those major topics/issues I am thinking about for some years now (when it comes to the gaming industry). Keep up the great work because you are like a fresh breath of air and therefore nothing short of fanstastic! I feel honored for being able to stay with you on this ride! :) Btw. one of the problems I sometimes see with smaller studios which are becoming successful is the fact that sooner or later one/some of those big (evil) companies will knock at their door and make them a financial offer some of them just cant resist/refuse >.
The only Ubisoft game I’ve played this year was Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Now that their price stocks are down, I honestly hope they go bankrupt.
If only all gamers would stop playing games for a week :) then they would listen to us to what we want and will deliver. Btw great job i hope all gaming community see these videos cause you guys say what we wanted to say for years, our voice that needs to be heard. I got the first vid from Asmon, but the 2nd here. I hope this goes viral or get proper traction and is seen by the studios as a video made by a casual gamer that cares, because you made a great video with excellent points without being a dick or disrespectful. Thank you.
Saw Asmond's reaction to part 1, in response to your comment about releasing the IP to companies that will do it justice, I'd really love for Ark's IP (and devs- Wildcard) get out from their ownership by publisher 'Snail', the game (Survival Ascended) still has a vibrant community and active mod scene and I could see it getting back to what made the original (Survival Evolved) great. Sadly I don't see that ever happening as Snail are so dependant on it. Great vid and will look forward to seeing more from you :)
I am a gamer since the late 80s, prefer games that challenge more my mind then simply my reactions (this does not stop me to also play a lot of shooter types over the years ;) ). The "trend" where games changed started somewhen around 2010 and since then the future of gaming looked more and more grim to me from my experience. Somewhen around 2015, fallout 4s year, i even started to feel insulted by games as they made feel me dumb, dumb for playing this more and more flat sh1t. The past 9 years i ended up only playing either old games or good remakes/remasters (system shock 1 for example) and rarely some indie developer stuff (there are some really good indie studios out there). The industry tries to flatten a loaf of bread (their game) for to feed so many customer types that much that nothing more is left then a pizza crust - flat and nobody gets filled with it anymore. It makes me sad where all this ended up. Graphical great games but with zero essence anymore. And the good content we had in earlier gaming years now gets extracted from the games before release and then put into the ingame shops.
Man, you are really on point, in all three topics covered in this video. And the jokes were all well-timed and funny. I'm so glad to see one more talented creator like you join the scene. Welcome, Padda!

As a gamer since almost 30 years ago, your points are very valid. It's sad to see how things have gone from back then till current day, but also very thankful for the smaller and indie dev studios throwing out amazing gems due to passion.
I think there's two really great statements made in this video:
(Stardew Valley's ConcernedApe, Palworld/Creativerse's Pocket Pair, HumanitZ's YoDubzz Studios)
I think Game Companies have a shelf life and most of the AAA companies now have reached theirs.
I hope this gets the traction it deserves! You really detail the plight of modern gaming well!
Yes, my thought exactly!
Especially how well thought and reasonable the commentary is.
No hyperbole, no distracting with toddler "high-energy vibes", no padding. Just chill and thoughtful content from someone who clearly loves gaming.
Great video. Good luck on your youtube career mate!
holy smokes you channel is skyrocketing, I love this style of vids looking forward to your future projects.
Only two videos and both are massive W's. Congrats! Hope the algorithm spreads your channel far and wide, this message needs to be echoed across the industry.
You've reached 200 subscribers! Good job!
YASSSS!!!🎉🎉🎉 thank you!
@@PaddaPlaysshameless self promo
Well, funny story
@@Skaaap the asmongold bump
And a day later after a asmongold video, 5K subs haha.
Goodluck!
Part 1 was good. I can see this becoming a career for you. The videos are really well done.
Last comment, I promise:
Metal Gear Solid is an example of a game series deeply entwined with political themes done right.
Gameplay is OK, the story and "that moment" are top-notch 👌
A must for those that love the old COD campaigns!
Cool video, keep up the work! You hitting on some points about the cash grab
Came here from Asmonds video that reacted to your 1st vid.
Protec Padda, he is the new chosen one
I haven't bought a game from EA, Ubisoft, or Blizzard in over 7 years, I haven't regretted that decision once, I know I'm at least doing my part. I did a lot of research on loot boxes, and microtransactions and the more I learned the more disgusted I became, this is hurting the everyone not just me, and if we don't stick together & protect our hobby no one will.
It sure is nice to watch this without it getting paused every 15 seconds. Glad I came to your channel on my own ❤
amazing video! (and again, like I said about half an hour ago on the other one. This is an absurdly strong start for a YT channel)
PS: you like Indie games, huh?
I put a lot of time into "Hollow Knight" and "Death's Door", I can only recommend these two ^^
I have a mate who is a Hollow Knight mega fan... I am buying it right now and I will look into Death's Door. Thanks a ton bro!
@@PaddaPlaystry Ender Lilies too
So on point!
Great videos man! So much research and you went so detailed.
Another great video bro and I completely agree with you. I subbed!
Your videos are amazing and your thoughts and opinions are so on point! keep up the good work!
We got you.
Saw you on Amongold. Great video!😊
Awesome! Thank you!
You deserve the recognition you're getting! Love the content & can't wait to be here while your channel grows brother!🙏
I see these videos all over UA-cam now, and they never get old. It warms my heart to know so many others feel the same way.
Keep the good work man
Two great videos! Glad Asmonbald watched them on his twitch stream. Subbed!
Amazing video!
Fantastic debut videos I think you're a very well spoken and smart person, and I'm thankful that you enjoyed putting this together and will continue to do it, I will absolutely continue to watch it because I certainly enjoyed it too
Nice I was looking forward to your second video, you made my lunch break better :D very good work!
You’re a legend bro! Made my day with this comment
Btw. one of the problems I sometimes see with smaller studios which are becoming successful is the fact that sooner or later one/some of those big (evil) companies will knock at their door and make them a financial offer some of them just cant resist/refuse >.
Thank you and best of luck bro, be yourself and keep doing this.
Good stuff.
Sensible and well measured.
Welcome as a creator on yt hehe.
God knows every person making content like this is needed
Congrats on your channel's growth spurt! I know you probably feel an immense pressure to crank out a bunch of content right now - it's not necessary. Just keep up the quality and only put out videos when it feels natural and you have something you want to say.
Thank you bro! Gonna take my time and still prioritise family and pre commitments. I can only truly represent a demographic if I am the demographic. No point in trying to be someone I am not. Thanks for the comment!
Keep up the work. We need more people doing exactly this. Bringing this issue to everyone’s attention.
Hey man! Love your content so proud to see a fellow ZA Content Creator start popping off! I'm a small local solo indie dev and Vtuber and would love to connect some time, so cool to see a passionate and talented local ZA content creator popping off and making awesome meaningful content.
WE WANT MORE!!!!
Good vids bro keep it up you got asmond to watch it your gonna do good if you keep at it bro
I like the way you put things into words.. I really feel the same way and I assume most players too.
Great video.. I like it a lot keep pushing forward.
Another great video. You are spot on in your analysis and you convey your thoughts in a very understandable and structured manner. Keep up the good work. I hope many more people find and take the time to watch these two episodes.
Know you because of Asmon - after i watched your Part 2 i subbed
Preach Bro - great work, and congrats to your Subcount :D
Hope you grow further - you deserve it 100%
great video don't change a thing you'll be big
I was watching your video on Asmon's channel and I thought, this guy has managed to approach and explain the issues from the right perspectives.
Congratulations (I'm looking forward to more).
For your first uploads this was an excellent 2 part series. Easiest sub of my life!
Great video, thanks!
GG's my man, well done!
Yep. I feel ya bro. I never buy games at launch anymore. I learned that the hard way. I just cannot trust any of them anymore.
random commentary to support you for the algorithm. You're doing a great job, I hope you'll continue. Greeting from Switzerland ;D
Thank you!!
Thank you for using your voice to help gamers. It's sad seeing the state of everythng.
Saw your first vid, loved it. Subbed. Nice one and gz on almost 3k subs.
Baldy said you are good. I have to agree, from this video alone.
Another great vid bro! Hope you keep this up and stay clear and unbiased throughout your YT journey.
Watched all three of your videos now and I can't but agree with what you're saying, really good videos!
Looking forward to what you'll put out next :)
Man, you are really on point, in all three topics covered in this video. And the jokes were all well-timed and funny. I'm so glad to see one more talented creator like you join the scene. Welcome, Padda!
Great video bro, keep it up! people are liking your fresh content.
