    In (20) seasons, where he defended shortstop in (2,674) games, which represents the 2nd most in history and therefore the most innings at the position. (-253) Defensive Racing cost him in (20) seasons as a whole, the worst mark in history. In the historical list in the statistics that I mentioned above they follow: ➡️Gary Sheffield = (-195) ➡️Adam Dunn = (-167) ➡️Michael Young = (-152) ➡️Matt Kemp = (-141) All, recognized as bad defenders. Every single short stop in the history of the game who's played in the league for a period of time is going to have several highlight real plays. I watched a lot of Philly games and would witness Rollins make an epic play on a regular basis, whereas Rollins is an amazing short stop hence it was a regular occurrence. You can shape a statistic and bend data to justify any argument you want to make. It still doesn't guarantee that the argument reflects reality. I watched Derek Jeter from rookie to retirement. You don't have to be a fan boy to know he was skilled at his position. Derek's a better person than I am, because I wasted my time responding to this ridiculousness from a player on a team who felt they needed to cheat to win a World Series, even though they already had the talent to win it clean. _The foolishness..._

    • @SirTylerGolf
      @SirTylerGolf 11 місяців тому

      A couple things make him look like a good defender.
      1. He's a Yankee, his highlights will be more seen than other's
      2. His bad defence is mostly due to poor range. Poor range cannot be as easily seen as a poor glove, his career fielding percentage is nearly identical to Ozzie smith, who's probably the best defensive shortstop ever, why? Because Jeter had a good glove i.e. he could make the plays that he could get to, but he could not get to many plays relative to most shortstops.
      3. He was needlessly flashy, no one else does the jump throws because it doesn't help, people just see Jeter doing something that no one else does and they attribute that as something good

      Baseball is probably the most translatable sport to numbers there is, unlike basketball. Anyways even with the eye test jeter severely lacked lateral quickness to make any type of rangy plays and his above average arm turned those plays that most would make look routine into the “highlight reel”moments that they showed on sportscenter. Jeter would’ve been a fine 3rd baseman and should’ve let Arod who was 1000x better as a shortstop take that position. Jeter mayve even been a positive defender at that position but instead his ego cost him.
