    I set up DR/Expo on my UMX Turbo Timber according to the manual. I was extremely dissatisfied with the way plane flew. When I got home I Inhibited the DR/Expo and the next time I flew that plane it flew like the wonderful plane I'd heard about and watched several on UA-cam fly. I won't be so bold as to say I'll never use it again because I can see where it might help on some planes.

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  4 роки тому

      That plane does not need it. My UMX Timber I flew straight out of the box. Just bound and went.

    Thanks for the bind vid and this, I keep hearing these terms and had no idea l was completely lost.
    Flew it once with RTF controller so twitch 😁, ega to setup expo and throw along win flaparons when l bind 1220 ranger to DX6e. P.S crashed wing tip stall low altatude messed up landing gear she'll fly again. Bad pilot... bad😅

    What is the purpose of mixing ailerons and elevator? I'm still having trouble making smooth, tighter turns. Thanks for help.

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  4 роки тому +1

      the purpose is to assit with those turns. however i rarely use mixes because i would rather FEEL the turn through the sticks by using elevator, rudder, and ailerons to keep the plane level in the turn. it takes practice but keep at it. i will try to get a video out on how to do flat turns.

    • @royd7984
      @royd7984 4 роки тому

      Not necessarily a flat turn, just a normal turn with one down wing but not losing altitude and nose dive. Thanks for your reply.

    I ordered the umx mig 15 bnf, which will be my 3rd plane. The transmitter i have is a basic dxe. I cant go into it to set my own rates and expo. My question is, when i bind the plane to my transmitter how will the rates be set from factory? By the way, you explain the rates and expo great. Thank you very much.

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  4 роки тому

      No they will have no rates or expo set, However with SAFE on that little jet you will be fine. The factory settings will keep yoo loving her. Just keep her close, she is small and hard to see to far away. also the nose gear is a bit fragile so you may want to just belly land her.

    • @cG-es8mb
      @cG-es8mb 4 роки тому

      @@FatGuyFliesRC yeah, i will be flying over grass so I will belly land it. Watching videos it looks easier to belly land. Would it fly easier if i did have a programmable transmitter? How fast do you think it can go? It will come in next week. Ready to fly it.

    @Fat Guy Flies RC I'm brand new to hobbie 1220 ranger RTF first plane want bind to spectrum DX6e no good do I need a spectrum 6 channel receiver thinking AR620?

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  2 роки тому +1

      A ar620 will work since you need a 5th channel for the REFLEX system to plug into.

    What kind of elevator throw do you have on your Air Tractor? I just built one and it has almost zero throw either way.

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  4 роки тому

      Thanks for watching! I set the travel in the transmitter to 100% now what that equates to in mm or inches I have no idea. But its the full movement of the control surface with 30% expo mixed in to tame it.

  • @tomanderson9979
    @tomanderson9979 2 роки тому

    You did an excellent job explaining thoes terms.but I do have a question. Can all control surfaces rates be put on one switch, or do I need flaps on one, elevator on another and rudder on a Third? Provided they would all be the same high and low dates.

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  2 роки тому +1

      Absolutely! In fact that is what I do. I use my G channel which is a 3 position switch and assign high, mid and low to each position, I normally run high rates as 100% over 30% expo then mid rates as 80% over 30%expo then 70% over 30% expo for low rates. and that's on all control surfaces.
