NOTICE TO ALL CHANNEL VIEWERS: Unfortunately, I noticed more upset comments based on pure misunderstanding than any other video I've published. So, I want to explain exactly what I think of social media and this video. First, this isn't a political video.I don't think talking about changing DNS records is exactly political. And, let's say that a particular social media service leans a direction you don't. If that's reason to unsubscribe from my channel, to me that really indicates a short fuse in the 'give-the-benefit-of-the-doubt' dept to an education channel like mine. Second, I use and have active accounts with UA-cam, X, Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Truth Social, Reddit, Tumblr, and so forth. If Bozo the Clown made an app and a social media service, I'd use it also. If there'a a free service that allows me to use as a worldwide content delivery network to drive traffic back to my channel, why the hell wouldn't I use it and help get the word out about the videos I make? Anyone not in a coma would do the same thing. And I actually talked about this in a video a while back when I mentioned that I need to better promote the pal2tech channel. I can't just rely on the generous support of BACKSTAGE. With a limited budget and working 7 days a week on providing viewers free camera tutorials --- OF COURSE I'll jump at the chance to create an account on any social media service that informs more viewers/students/photographers about the content here on this channel. Third, just because I published a how-to tutorial on settings of a specific social media service, that doesn't mean I promote their ideology. In fact, I rarely, if ever, post my photos to social media. And that's mostly because of 1) their draconian service agreements, and 2.) their lack of concern for young children using their services. I just don't want to give them my own content, that's all. UA-cam (except for their dumb Shorts) is the sole exception, as they are more like a TV network than anything else. But nevertheless, thanks to Section 230, these companies can do pretty much anything they want with your content. I've always taken the position that they are not platforms, but content publishers. Long-time subscribers of this channel will know that I don't ever even refer to them as 'platforms'. They get free content from their users in exchange for providing a service that republishes that content. If a company does that, they are a content publisher. You build Linux, you've created a platform. I took this position when Prodigy and CompuServe spun up in the late 1990's and I take this position today. Fourth, some services I don't even use at all which is why I don't post there. But that has zero, and I mean ZERO, to do with politics. Take TikTok for example. I will never post my content on TikTok nor do I ever spend my time on the app. I'd rather be locked in a moldy, wet, dark hole for six months with Fran Drescher and Gilbert Gottfried screaming in my ear at high volume 24 hours a day. TikTok is form of digital fentanyl as far as I'm concerned. Am I being clear enough now ladies and gentlemen? Fifth, and finally, I have never, not once, EVER, discussed politics on this channel. And I don't plan on doing so with a tutorial on DNS changes for Bluesky usernames. Pro Tip from your Uncle Pal2tech: There are two things people should not talk about much, if ever, with friends or viewers: Religion and Politics. Because a.) You will never change anyone's mind, and b.) you will upset 50% of them. Many photographers vote blue. Many photographers vote red. They all want better autofocus. And no, I'm not switching the channel over to tech. This video was posted as part of the Tech Monday series. It's called Tech MONDAY. That means there are 6 other days open for Fujifilim. So tech is currently 1/7th of this channel's focus. So, speaking of which, I need to go now and get back to the difference between 24 fps and 23.98 fps which is the next Fujifilm video I'm currently working on. And yes, I'd even rather be locked in that hole I mentioned earlier than trying to explain codecs, framerates, and the necessity to prevent interference between the color subcarrier and the audio signal in 23.98 fps. But I want to help new video shooters using Fuji cameras so it needs to be taught and made interesting. In all sincerity and seriously, thank you for your time reading this. It was important to me to clarify. Cheers and, lol, peace. You inspire me every single day. -- pal2tech

You don't need to justify yourself for this video. It is totally neutral. This manufactured hate on everything *perceived* as anti-Musk is just ridiculous.
I'm sorry that you've had to write this, but I enjoyed reading it (albeit as a Brit only vaguely familiar with some of the terms). Of course this video was entirely apolitical, but there must be some people who connect any social media with the bad player(s). Please keep up your excellent work - apt lessons on important subjects in using cameras and software.
DNS used to be called the Yellow Pages, father of the Domain Name System, it was/is based on the physical yellow pages model. Easier to explain it this way.
Any content helping set this up is welcome and Chris did a wonderful job here. As deck.blue's developer and fellow subscriber, thank you so much for this video and don't let those people that don't really understand what Bluesky means get to you.
I’m not even a Fuji user anymore, and I still watch this channel routinely because of the awesome content that you post. Case in point, I just reviewed the series on flashes to sharpen my skills after struggling with the flash on Thanksgiving. Avoid the noise and keep doing what you’re doing, because you seem like one of the most genuine people on this platform. It’s a damn shame that you even felt the need to make that comment explaining the video. Ty for sharing your knowledge!
Gosh, its soo amazing how pathetic whiners some are. What is possible wrong with this? Its just a guide😅😅😅 that can be used on other platforms as well.
I don't have a current personal domain, Chris, but based on how much I have learned from you over the past few years, I have just opened a Bluesky account and clicked to follow you. I have a different handle there though. Thanks for this video.
Thanks very much for this Chris. Very well explained (as you always do) and I followed along and got mine changed before the video finished. Now, can you tell me without bringing Politics into it, how to get my first 7 gazillion followers - don't tell anyone else though. Nah, seriously, great video, thanks.
Would you be able to walk us through the “weather resistance” of Fuji cameras? I have an X-T5 and used it in light snow and was so nervous the whole time so I didn’t enjoy shooting :(
I always bring a precut 1 gallon freezer bag. Specifically holes on the corner for the lens front without the hood. Also I wear a weather proof coat and sling my camera inside. Zip up when it pours. Buy insurance, shoot with primes in rain or dust.
I've had my X-T4 out in light to moderate rain quite a few times and it was always fine, except for one time where I was doing a full-day hike on a partly forested mountain trail (Kumano Kodo in Wakayama, Japan). From about midday through to the end, I had persistent, fairly heavy rain and I didn't have any external protection for my camera, so except for the parts where I was under the tree canopy, it was basically constantly exposed. Towards the end of the hike, I started to have fog on my images which persisted even after changing the lens, which obviously got me quite anxious. Problem went away after the camera had a night to dry, but that was probably a close call. Moral of the story: X-T4 weather sealing generally seems to hold up quite well, the level of abuse described above pushing its limits. I assume this should be similar on the X-T5. Hope this helps.
Many photographers vote blue. Many photographers vote red. They all want better autofocus. This cracked me up more than the sensitive folk. For what it’s worth never heard of blue sky before this video. lol
Well this is super handy! But wait- what’s political about Bluesky? It’s a social media app. As creators we have to have a presence on every app. I don’t get the whining in this comments
Hello Chris, I was expecting a video regarding the latest firmware update to fix AF, which didn't. TBH I am someone upset, I did a photoshoot last week and many of my photos were out of focus, even though the green box was showing the subject in focus.
Yeah, pass…The only SM that I am active on is here, UA-cam and damn little of that. I was hoping for a preliminary review/thoughts of Fuji’s FW update.
Like all social media services, I only use Bluesky as a content delivery device to drive traffic back to my channel. I rarely, if ever, post any, except my most unimportant photos/images, to social media. It is not just bluesky. All social media service agreements are draconian and these tech companies will whore out your personal information, data, and website activity in pretty much any manner that they can. They have been able to get away with a lot of their shenanigans and nonsense thanks to Section 230, which hopefully will be addressed one day. Some, like TikTok (which is basically digital fentanyl), I don’t use whatsoever. Hope this clarifies!
