Put your seatbelts on and travel with Sam on the bumpy ride back into the precarious final years of the 20th Century in this Lifetime project .

If I made such a video you could see at which point my soul was consumed by my ex-wife.
Oh my god. Someone give this guy a hug.
Thank you for your sacrifices, for learning the hard way so we younger men of today don't have to.
I'm sorry to hear that mate.
I feel your pain, my brotha
same
This threw me into some mild existential crisis.
It fixed mine.
i feel ya i'm 23 and i'm panicking about growing older now D=
Live long enough to live forever. I'll never give up on the hope of life extension, even if that possibility is slim..
Immortality will come about around 2050, but it will most likely be a living hell inside a machine. Emotion should be stripped away and the passage of time will gradually be forgotten.
2045 often seems to be the magic year I've heard. But futurology is weird. Of course it's based on statistical extensions, like moore's law is. So it is likely I suppose as technology is exponential. I don't think life extension will be one thing. Am guessing you're talking about the the upload one. Uploading yourself onto a neurological computer. Living hell? okey, I don't know why you think that. Emotions *should* be stripped? So you're in favor of that living hell.
No, there will be more ways. The most obvious one is just the extensions of our own biological bodies. Diseases at old age will start to be curable, cancer, alzheimer's, parkinson's etc. That means living longer, and if you live long enough you might live into other breakthroughs. Telomere extensions, the removal of cellular waste, lab grown organs, cybernetics, nanorobotics, regenerative medicine, personal medicine, etc. Until you live at a time in where life extension technology is expanding faster than you are aging. This one could also count as a slow version of becoming one with the machine as biological and robotical technologies merge.
A third one would be the cryonics or biostasis. Placing an organism into a long stasis of "sleep" until revived many years into the future.
5:39 "This is the first entry of a new project of mine. An annual..."
**momentary brain fart because the word 'vlog' hasn't been invented yet**
"...personal status report."
That's going to be a hell of a funeral video
*birth video
@@DavZeugme *consummation video
Seriously dude smh
Clicked on this thinking it was just going to be a timelapse showing how his looks changed as he aged. This format was a 1000 times better
So cool, it's like you knew UA-cam was going to be invented.
he thought he'd be famous by now.
ur..ur..ur a fucking idiot
I'm pretty sure the Fine Bros. invented this project.
Pretty sure yeah. They also invented copyright and the original printing press
And the word react of course.
The world's first vlogger. I'd love to watch his vlogs. He seems to have a lot of personality.
*electronic music blares in the background*
"1993 was actually a very strange year, and a very disturbing one too"
Describes my birth year perfectly
That was the year I graduated high school. 🤯
This guy was WAY ahead of his time he was doing video blogs before the advent of the internet.. He was like the original UA-cam doing videos in the late 70's it was rare for the avg. person to own a video camera as well. Great vid I think more people should start doing stuff like this.
Sup? Have you still been doing this?
Your ability to sound interesting even though you're not actually saying anything, I want that. I never had that because I grew up under the false pretense that what you say is what's important, when in fact you just have to sound interesting saying it.
I'm 25.
You're very interesting.
Holy shit, you are right
It probably is that newsanchory type of speech. He's very good at it.
Absolutely correct
For him, it was maybe a once a year video take, so sure it was special and he radiates this energy
Well I'm sure what you are saying does matter to people with brains and ears. But it's rare to find that lol ... but you have a point majority people don't pay attention to what you say just how you say it. That's why globally we have leadership issues
"And by the way, Mr. Klemke, try to stop living in the past!", haha, love it.
Damn, this guy looked like he was in his 40s when he was around 25. Crazy. I'm almost 30 and I look younger than this guy did at the age of 20.
Facial hair will do that. Now that everyone has beards there are 20 year olds walking around that look 40
Look at a high school yearbook from the 70s
I think people looked older back then, must be all the estrogen in the water nowadays.
A lot more cigarette smoke, car fumes, and factory pollution back in his time. Exposure to that stuff ages you.
Part or the why peuple looked older is also because of the fashion of that Era.
Since we've seen mostly old people rocking those styles
I love that he know cat videos would be a thing back in 1982.
I feel like this guy has a type of personality that you only see in people who came of age in the 70s. And I mean that in a good way.
This was AMAZING. This made me reflect so hard on my own life and the way i'm living it for some reason.
Hey Ray, keep up those good edits.
Nice.
why did 20 year olds look like they were 30 back then and now they all look like they're 12?
i was thinking the exact same thing lol, he looked older than me at 19 and in 25
vaginas
They didn't have soap or shampoos back then, so people bathed themselves using animal lard. That ages the skin.
It's the clothes and haircut. You think he looks old because you associate them as being from years ago and it ages your perception of the individual.
wow you gauge that off of like two people?
Idk who this is, but he looks like the coolest dude I ever saw honestly.
Damn its creepy if you go from the beginning, fast forward to 6:19, then rewind to the beginning again, then back to 6:19. It's surreal to see someone's life pass by in a blip of time. I can just can't contemplate it, our life comparing to the billions of years of the universe.
1998-1999 was a huge change
Between 1997 and 1998 he really changes. 1997 he suddenly seems so different than 1998-2011
beard.
Love this so much! Also at 00:33 "2002" music is La Femme D'argent by Air
Absolute banger. Added a nice nostalgic feel
Well, let's just say he already looked older for his age, so now, he's by now, probably looks his real age. Fascinating and depressing, at the same time because it makes us reflect on our own lives.
I feel invested enough to want to watch all of this gentleman's retrospectives. Where are they!?!
they're coming, finally! On this channel and 2 more - "Ultimessence" & "Draw4you"
Stay tuned!
3:30 oh damn the feels
the feels of turning 30 and looking like 45 ^^
RIP.
2:22 I can't explain the vibe I'm having
this is really cool man. it scares me how fast ppl can get old
He looks 40 in his 30s.
Although, he seems to get happier the older he gets.
I hope i get happier, otherwise i will have a problem
This is super cool and now I feel kinda inspired to do something similar, love it.
Same here !
Alexia Aretos Same! Buying a laptop next month deff gonna try it
1986: I need to get in shape if I want to live to the 2000s
The 1990s: 1:44
acid trance... definitely right music to be listening to in 1993!
I just turned 19. This video was uploaded on my birthday. ... I must take where you left off and continue this into 2046. It is my destiny.
The nostalgia this must be bringing to you .. congrats on your project dude !
Truly amazing. You've had every body type.
This was absolutely fascinating, thank you for sharing!
This video is amazing! It really is I love how committed you were to actually keep up with every year! I love this! Definitely one of my favorite videos in UA-cam and all time, great job Sam!
Well done Mr Klempe. Fascinating retrospective. Thanks for the magical ride in your time machine.
What dedication, hats off to you sir, absolutely brilliant.
Thanks for sharing this amazing piece of work. It's surreal going back through time, everything felt almost simpler. I never knew what life was like for Peter Jackson.
This must be one of the best videos on UA-cam I've seen in a long, long time. Thanks for sharing.
How could anyone dislike this? This is genius!
G,day Sam! You know what, I watched this about two years ago and I can't believe I didn't realise it was you. I wish I had the dedication to do something like this. It was nice chatting with you today and have a blast in Sundace.
I think it's fair to say you eventually grew into your look.
This comment is so underrated. So true.
well said
This was amazing, inspiring, to think you were one of the first vloggers, you have been doing something for years, which nowadays is just a common hobby, you are such an inspiration to me. Thank you for this video, and spending you time doing this for 35 years!
This is the most amazing chronicle video I've ever seen. Simply amazing. Incredible persistence.
Such a wonderfully ambitious project. I hope you live into yours 80s+ and you continue to do this for the next 30 years. I wouldnt mind an extended version where you reflected upon that year, for 20-25 seconds. At least in highlights of the worthier parts
1993 was a strange year
2020: hold my beer
I think this is actually the best piece of video I have ever watched.
Enjoyed this video, thumbs up. Cheers from sunny Sint Maarten in the Caribbean.
His youthful hope and optimism: returning.
you are my absolute favourite and such a wonderful man! this is such an incredible idea. you were definitely thinking ahead of your time :) I hope you are doing well!
why dont you eat his cackk!!!
Rachel Chesney ur hot
Wow. That video actually brought tears to my eyes. Brilliant idea.
This is FANTASTIC. Thanks for sharing!
The big thing I noticed was the change of quality of the video
he's always had beautiful hair
this video really makes you realize how fast time flies by, and how much things change. Don't waste a minute of your life...Thanks for the inspiring video!
lol came to say someone on Reddit posted your video too. I also have to say it was fantastic! Not that they reposted ,but your video was great. I really made me think of my own progression and what it would look like. Thanks for your memories and a glance into the past.
"I'm getting old, I'm 33 and a half!"
Shut up, man from the past
5:10 he becomes Dave Grohl
Loved it. Thanks for sharing!
2002 has some AIR!
Universal Traveler is my #1 jam
the father of Vlog
Damn... One of the best ideas ever!!! Best wishes for the next 35!!! Keep us posted :)
I felt so depressed after watching this video . It makes you think about your life . I'm still young but one day i will get old and i will find myself looking at my photos when i was young and thought " Wow , time went by so fast . " If only i have the power to stop time and just live forever with my family and friends .
In the 1980s he looks like Steve Zaragoza.
2002 he was bumping some "Air", and I'm cool with that.
Took a lot of vision and dedication to do this. Excellent!
I wouldn't have watched if it weren't for reddit
Who cares? Shut the fuck up
That Juan does
Wouldn't know you even exist if it weren't for this dude's video.
He turns into Dave Grohl at 5:09
What happened in 1980 that caused you to gain weight?
probably just his metabolism. he was in his 20s, so not too unusual
yeah, im sure it was nothing to do with food
Sedentary TDEE for a 5'10" 200lb male:
20 years old - 2,308 cal
30 years old - 2,248 cal
40 years old - 2,188 cal
and for a 5'10" 350lb male at 40 years - 3,005 cal
No one who is obese has a low metabolism. They just eat too much.
Not food, alcohol. Alcohol will make you fat. Even if its zero sugar in it, your liver converts the alcohol back into sugar.
This is has to be my favourite video on UA-cam, so amazing.
loved this. amazing video this is priceless. this man can say he's the only one with a video like this so far. thanks for sharing
Anyone else think he looked like Russell Brand 35 years ago?
You remind me of myself. I started journaling my life via voice recordings in 2015. I have thousands of these recordings now. I'm hopeful that they will help me remember everything when I'm old. BTW, that was a great impression of Jimmy Durante at @ 0:35. Or was it someone else? This video was awesome. I hope you're still around. :)
Great work Klemke!! The forethought!! you were a man ahead of your time! Heeeerrrreesssss Johnny!!
Thank u for sharing this, you are amazing !
I kind of want to hear his full account of all of the years.
Amazing how George Harrison have changed in 35 years.
What a wonderful thing youve done! Thank you!
Hey man good job... and is good thing you kept doing this every year... most of the people quit... big shour for you... showing some love from Colombia...
What happened between 1998 and 1997?
I was born, that's what happened.
The world never did recover
The Americas went from imitation wood paneling to drywall. It was everywhere back then we had wood arm couches with brownish colored cushions brown paneling everywhere and yellow shag carpet. It was almost as if we wanted to be one with its woody grain. Joining the planks and infusing ourselves with the fibers of their very composition. Existing in spacial super-position and resonating at the same vibratory frequencies. Luckily, we found out how much nicer drywall looks.
I think it's just that he let his hair grow, and grew a full beard which happened to be mostly gray. He was mostly clean shaven in the late 90's except for the stache. He looks older again in the early 90's. Beards make everyone look older than they are, especially if they're gray.
Beard
"Melissa - Me" stole your content, report their asses
So awesome, thank you man!
Absolutely fantastic!
We need an update, it's been 10 years :)
i'm working on it....
@@MisterEsoteric amazing!
Everything about this guy says West Coast developer, and I love it!
Anyone know what his profession is?
He's got money that's for sure.
He does caricature according to one of his comments earlier.
wow this is a blast from the past man going throw my old videos that i fav on youtube and came across this gem again hope your still doing well man
this is crazy, i actually started doing this exact thing 2 years ago.. even the monologue you gave at the end is almost exactly the reason why I started..
You looked like you were 35 when you were 19. I looked like a kid when I was 19.
I know right? When he turned 30 he looked like 45! Fuck!
Probably has something to do with his maturity. You were probably acting like a 5 yr old at 19.
Anyone know the song that's playing @ 0:30 (2002)???
Air - La Femme d'Argent
Air "La femme d'argent"
Thanks a lot guys ;)!!
THIS IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST FASCINATING VIDEOS I HAVE EVER SEEN :)
PRICELESS. AMAZING . totaly freakin bad ass !!! WOW! lost for words . Thank you !!
I stopped at 1994, somehow he was still getting fatter.
Dude definetely didn't win the genetic lottery. Looked like he was 40 since he was 20 years old
4:32 cocaine.
"Cocaine is a hell of a drug." - xP
No doubt.
As someone born in 1985, and am very much fond of both past and future times, I very much enjoyed this video. Thanks for the upload.
[Yes Reddit sent me here]
i love coming back to this video and watching it i hope you are still doing well man
Apparently this man has been copying Casey Neistat since 1991
This... is... amazing (mind blown)
Thanks for sharing
Incredible. This really has put my own life into perspective. Time is something we might never have a hold on, but documenting the world as time develops has always been a possibility, and an important one at that. I am now a product of my own generation, and eerily feel the same angst you portrayed in your early 20's. As a piece of this planet, three decades behind, I thank you for this.
Why does this video conjure up such sadness in me?
Thank you man. You made me wonder about my time on earth.
