It raises an interesting point about traffic. Cities and municipalities create bike lanes to make things "more safe," but in doing so they also create the impression that "bikers always need to be in the bike lane."

This is just incredibly bad urban planning. The car lobby ensured that cars ruled NY and that's how the streets took shape. In the Netherlands the bikes rule the cities and enjoy incredibly safe separate bike lanes and enormous privileges over cars.
God I wish we had those kind of lanes in the UK, rather than constantly riding on the pavements illegally, or in the lead wth people passing you inside of a meter away -.-

XxTigerxXRainxX It's not okay to hit people's cars or property with your bike. But, at the same time, it's not fair getting a ticket for not going in the bike line when it's imposibble because of all the things that are in it. If they want their property to be respected and not damaged, they have to respect the space and things of everybody else. That includes respecting the bike line , which is the space for bikes Plus it doesn't look like all of that stuff in the bike like are there by accident. Or are you going to tell me that 1:55 those boxes could not be placed anywhere else?

It's 2022 and this video is still relevant. Bike infractions continues to be a problem in NYC.
This is still one of my favourite videos on UA-cam.
I hope these 25M views compensated for the 50 dollars lost
his a millionaire now.
@Aidan Bavinton it is kind obvious, but if he is not he is pretty well about money
@Aidan Bavinton look up CASEY NEISTAT and have a look into what hes done during life and the motivational talks this man has given, you may learn a thing or two other than him being a millionaire
This got copyright claimed so he obviously didn't make anything from this video
@Aidan Bavinton google my friend, its a very cool new tool that almost anyone has access to
Doesn't cycle in bike lane
*Gets $50 fine*
deliberately crashes into cop car to prove a point
*receives no fine*
ahh he didn't deliberately drive into the cop car he just went on the bike lane and not outside it like the cop said
@Methamphetameme hawt
that's a 2 star in gta
Our car we the people
@Methamphetameme Actually the cop was parked illegally by being in the bike lane...Take a picture and send it to your local PD. I've done that and my complaint was followed up on. If that doesn't work contact the mayor or someone who oversees the police department. Granted it may not work but always worth a try.
He literally made this video again a few days ago. I'm glad Casey still talking about this.
Everytime this video shows up in my recommended I stop and watch it. So well done
This is just incredibly bad urban planning. The car lobby ensured that cars ruled NY and that's how the streets took shape. In the Netherlands the bikes rule the cities and enjoy incredibly safe separate bike lanes and enormous privileges over cars.
God I wish we had those kind of lanes in the UK, rather than constantly riding on the pavements illegally, or in the lead wth people passing you inside of a meter away -.-
Lavinmore Fun trivia: Dutch cars used to have more privileges over bikes (always right of way). But then the Dutch figured out that was a law left over from when the Germans occupied the country so they got rid of that.
+Lavinmore I live in York and there are bike lanes everywhere, accidently walking in to one gets you a lot of stink eye from cyclists they take it real serious here
+harharluke: York, England?
+LanLost that's the one!
Who’s here after watching Casey’s new video on New York ticketing cars the block that bicycle lane (at last!!)
He's so committed to prove a point that he crashed into a police car, thats determination
ikr
@@rsh650 what a downer
@@rsh650 well it paid of, he makes a ton of money today and its his job now :)
@@rsh650 what's more exciting than righteous indignation and crashing into cars
I do get his point, but the thing is, roads also have barricades and cars that are broken down, you just go around.
Every couple of months I get this video recommended. And it's always fun.
I just keep coming back to this video and can't help but think this is a masterpiece.
The cop car at the end was the BEST part! haha someone should be ticketing those public servants.
I love how Casey looks like he's smiling right before he crashes into the NYPD car. Going like "This is *quality* content"
this was my first ever Casey Neistat video. I watched it in film study class in high school, my junior year, which was 2012.
here we are 9 years later and im rewatching every video again back up to the point where he came back to NYC. so glad to have you back!
What were you trying to observe as part of your study
@@melonie_peppers we were studying cinematography and different styles of shooting videos. cant remember the literal reasons why this video was shown as it was 10 years ago though.
Who’s here from the Casey 2022 bike lane vid ? 11 years and don’t look like much has changed Casey is still falling off!😂😂
Thid guy went out of his way and humilated himself to humiliate the po po

Haha, this video was hilarious. You earned my subscription.
11 years later and still a masterpiece
This is the best protesting video i have ever seen xD
Hitting people's cars with your bikes is damaging property even if they aren't supposed to be there, especially doing it intentionally
That includes respecting the bike line , which is the space for bikes
Plus it doesn't look like all of that stuff in the bike like are there by accident. Or are you going to tell me that 1:55 those boxes could not be placed anywhere else?
XxTigerxXRainxX Maybe it was something extremist hit everything with his bike, but if one person only accepts all that is wrong, without complaining , then the society will never get better.
PS: Sorry for my bad english. I don't use to speak o write in this lenguage very often.
Apparently being polite and protesting calmly while being fined for something that is not illegal doesn' work.
+BIANCOBITS to start I agree with you, BUT I know here in Ottawa if the truck operator had placed those boxes on the sidewalk he would have been fined, where as on the road it's somehow okay.
I didn’t think he would hit the police car but he did 😂👌🏻
😁😁😂😂
The cop car he hit extra hard haha compare to the taxi scene
Cops did tell him to stay in the lane
911 like...hahahahahhahaah destiny
I have watched this video several times after 11 yrs since it was posted MAN! IT IS COLD!
Its 2023 and still this is one off the most legendary Casey Neistat video’s i love it ❤
Bro this is funny, he went into one of the squad cars!
ikr
i died
hahahaha muhammed bulut... bulut...
+bestsnowboarderuknow I know this, but of course he wants us to think that hes hitting one of them which is why I put the comment in this form, if i put it in another form it would of sounded smart and people wouldnt have liked it.
Nah he didnt hit it, they set up something before it not to damage the car, because THAT would give him a fine.
Holy shit i've known this video for ages but I never realized this was Casey :o
Same!!!!
me too! it just popped up in my recommended videos and I was like "guy with the bike lane, yawn, seen this a million times, featured everywhere, wait, this is Casey???"
I just said that myself after watching one of his VLOGs from 2015.
uufd rs it says bike lanes by Casey neistat
You're taking it too literal bro.
This was the morning LoL I needed, thanks for the great start to my day! 😅
Who came here after Casey's new bike bounty video?
