What a wonderful interview, Laraine and Pam! Pam, you and I have so many things in common it is uncanny. I had my Open RNY in 2001 (at Alvarado in San Diego) starting at 360. Lost 210, then regained within 5 years or so, eating around the pouch, too. Weight regain. Insurance wouldn't pay for a revision. I started with Trulicity in July 2022 at 405 lbs., then moved to Mounjaro in Sept. 2023. Today I weigh 145... with a LOT of dragging, sagging skin. My arm skin hangs 4 inches down... I tell people I earned it! My draping and folded skin is morbidly fascinating; I doubt I will ever get any taken off because I was told I would need reconstructive surgery, not just plastic surgery and it would be between $100,000 and $200,000 to get my whole body done. I'll just hide it all in clothes (even though I do wear tank tops when I walk... sometimes I just don't care). I am also a Super-Duper Responder, but do not believe it has anything to do with my RNY because my pouch and stomas are completely stretched out. I've subscribed to your channel and will be watching you! It would be great to chat sometime. So very wonderful to listen to your story. You're awesome! Another great interview, Laraine!! Thanks!
Our journeys started at the exact same time, dose by dose and I've maintained on 10mg. It keeps working so I just stay on this dose for both my diabetes and my weightloss. Great job you look great!!
I know exactly what she means about going up and down stairs. The inflammation in my knees has decreased so much since starting Zepbound I can now go up and down the stairs with less pain!
@ heather I think he is one of the doctors I’m looking into too and he is working with @poprecoverysystems too I’ll need them to help me finance the surgery. Dr Rednam in Houston is another surgeon that I’m considering. Those are the 2 that I’ve checking out so far I’d like eye lid surgery at some point, the arm lift. I’ll probably want a thigh or 360 but I’m not mentally ready for that since it’s a longer and more involved. I am so in line to get my abdominal hernia repaired but the specialist my Dr recommend is backed up for consults until March he is at UCLA hoping they get a cancelation
Retired teacher from Georgia and my state insurance covers my mounjaro also. I do have to have a monthly nurse call to receive my mounjaro for 0 copay.
I’m so happy to hear that you are able to get it covered also. I am so so blessed and thankful. I would not have been able to afford it after all the extra expenses that we needed and were able to help with every month for my grandson and his extra care
I have lipedema. It is hereditary from my mother. It is a progressive genetic disease. I am currently looking into plastic surgery- medically necessary liposuction. It will not only help my mental health as I have lost 105 lbs (10 more lbs until goal!) and can’t wear shorts or sleeveless shirts due to how ugly my legs and arms are, but also to help with the physical symptoms- pain, bruising, swelling, extra weight on my joints that I can’t lose with diet and exercise.
Two lovely ladies, I'm thankful for such a caring community.❤
What an inspiring story! Pam’s amazing, and Laraine is too for bringing this community together.
Youths k you so much ❤
😍thanks!

I’m so happy to hear others know what I mean and experience this too I didn’t realize how many had the same issue with pain going up and down stairs
@MounjarojourneywithPam same here! I was happy to hear that you experience what I felt as well. Glad I'm not the only one.

Has anyone done the Pop Recovery System's Transformation Academy?
Yes, I joined the transformation academy 3 weeks ago and I’m so happy I did. Are you in the academy too ? @poprecoverysystem
Hi good for You Pam. We’re close in age.
