honestly i hate the fact rare / popular villagers are more expensive to trade for ,, they are posted once every second but the more unpopular villagers are impossible to find 😭
My sister works at target and she gave me some inside info. The cards will always say out of stock online but some stores still have the cards in stock. You just go up to the tech counter and ask if they have any. My sister got her pack just yesterday almost a month after they dropped.
I think they did that to make it so people can't just buy the cards and trade the characters to friends. Because they also come with items, it would make it even more complicated too. I t would have to transfer not just the character but their items over with them and would essentially make it so people could get the content from trading the villagers for free.
Problem with in-store only offers is you’ll get mobs of 100+ people shoving and trampling each other for the the cards, only for some jerk to shoplift all of them (or steal them out of peoples bags on their way out).
I got mine from Amazon, they are smaller than normal amiibo cards but they work just as good, were a reasonable price and they are glittery with a texture. They were in the low end of the double digits if anyone was wondering
i'm so glad that i found out about the sanrio amiibo cards back when they were only compatible with animal crossing new leaf. i got those little amiibo coins for all of them off etsy in like 2019 and i have cherished them ever since. i never thought i'd get to see the day where i'd be able to use them again but i'm so glad.
hello kitty/sanrio is the second richest media franchise after pokemon. they seriously don’t need to worry about making more money. just make the villagers tradable jeez
Oh wow, that's insane! Pompompurin has always been my favorite Sanrio character so even though I knew the villagers weren't even in New Horizons at that point, I still purchased Marty's and Etoile's custom amiibo cards from a seller on Etsy (exclusively for collecting purposes). Once Nintendo announced their availability in-game recently, I tried my custom amiibo (Marty's) and it WORKED xD He's been chilling around my plaza ever since. Gotta love the little bear
I'm so scared for the fan girls to put him in maid suits and do... *flashbacks to Raymond and shivers* ...bad things to him and make him they're senpai
Wanna hear my Sanrio story? Oh you don’t? I’m still going to tell it anyway. So, I woke up bright and early to try and get them for drive up. But I must have been a little too late wich was IMPOSSIBLE because I was 20 minutes early! But anyways, I tried for like 30 minutes but it kept not letting me buy it. It said it was sold out. But then I went in person, and when I hopped out of my car, I saw a girl who was in collage wearing a pastel purple top, a pastel mint green skirt and a heart purse. Yes, she was in collage. And yes I was in my pajamas. But then we go in and she starts RUNNING towards the tech section. So I start running too. And then the guy who was just “handing them out” handed 2 to me, and some to that girl. Anyways, that’s my story. Little bit hectic, but SOOOO worth it for the cards!!!!!
I bought a set of coins immediately off Etsy as soon as I found out that was a thing, had them within three days and didn’t even cost that much more, plus I got the satisfaction of knowing I supported a smaller person. All about cost versus value and it all added up for me!
I, like you, was up early to buy mine on the day they were released. I added them to my cart, but it wouldn’t let me complete the checkout. All hope was lost. 😢 Last week, I was trying to decide if I wanted to make my own or buy some from Etsy. On Friday, April 16, my son and I went to the nearest Target to shop for other items and I decided to ask the employee back in the electronics section if they had any Sanrio amiibo cards in stock. He said they had 3 a few days ago, but were currently sold out. He said they get random quantities of them sometimes. He also checked other “nearby” stores and told me another store had 28 in stock. On Saturday, April 17, we drove to that store. I asked an employee there, who told me they had none. I explained that the employee at the other store said this store DOES have 28 in stock. They asked another employee over the walkie talkie and they told him to go look in the back in their Nintendo area. He came back a few minutes later with a handful of them! We bought one! 😊

@@KomaedasOneTrueHope I don’t know if your serious, but... You actually CAN invite villagers you’ve already kicked off your island back to your island they just won’t remember you. Nintendo also should release the packs worldwide and not only in the US and Japan. Almost all other countries have almost no chance of getting the official cards and have to buy fake ones. My tip would be to just make them yourself. There are a bunch of tutorials online and it is a very cheap and easy method.
this was going to happen no matter what. this is why you make your own amiibo, because the thing with amiibo is you either pay scalper pricing or you pay 12$ for like 50 tags, install an app, get the bin file for the amiibo you want, and make your own
I got my cards from eBay not long after they announced the characters return to the game, cause I knew I probably wouldn’t get them from Target for the soul fact I’d have to go out of state to get them!
Here's the thing, the *idea* was, it was advertised to us as, you could only order 2 packs per customer, and you *had* to pick the cards up from the store. You couldn't just have them delivered to your house or whatever; it was just not an option on the website. Based on those two things, it's obvious *somebody* knew the bots and scalpers were going to be a problem. Whether individual Targets would follow up on those two policies is where things started to fall apart. The Sanrio cards were the first major AC:NH thing I was truly excited about in months, so I had to try. I was constantly refreshing Target's site from about 8:45 onward, just to be safe. Nothing actually started happening until 9. Within the time it took me to make sure I had all the payment information entered correctly, the site did not tell me the cards were "sold out," on the product page, but it did tell me the items in my cart were no longer available. For the next half hour, I was bouncing between the product page and checkout. I kept trying at all because I started to notice every 3-5 minutes, two extra discounts would be added to my cart...Target had done a "rolling waves" release with a certain NH Pre-order bundle (albeit spread out over days instead of minutes), so I got suspicious that was the case here and why those two discounts only appeared every few minutes. They'd put up a limited stock, sell out, and then reload a few minutes later. It seems I was right, because around 9:35 the discounts appeared again and my order *finally* went through. Confirmation email and everything. So then began the tense wait for an email saying the order was ready for pickup...provided it wasn't canceled first. I think they finally sold out for real around 10. Fortunately for me, that's also when the ready-for-pickup email arrived. I couldn't go right then, but later that day a family member went out and offered to pick them up for me. They returned home with the cards in-hand, much to my immense relief. About a week later I went into my local store with a friend and noted they had well over a dozen packs of the cards hanging in the video game section...It was bittersweet, but at least I could take solace in knowing I already had my pack secured at home.
a lot of raymonds, doms, sherbs and judys exist tho bc people are more likely to take them if they find them / go nook mile ticket hunting for them bc they're popular
Problem is, this makes it so us exclusive and it’s hard to get ahold of them in other places such as the uk (where I live). Just sucks how exclusive these cards are.
If they do them in store only they need to have more than 1 pack per person limit. My best friend is wheelchair bound and can’t easily get to the store in their rural town. I couldn’t get mine online same as them so I went to the store and bought mine and bought theirs too so I could send it to them. Making it in store only isn’t very disability accessible.
so i work for target and was working the morning they came out. we technically cannot purchase anything until it has been on the floor (while the store is open) for at least fifteen minutes, so you bet at 8:15am i was at the electronics boat buying my amiibo cards. we ended up not selling out until like noon though because the online/pickup orders came in late, and there was a rush of people coming to buy trading cards (we restock on friday mornings and have people who literally line up for an hour before store open for them), which was a big distraction for everyone. none of us knew they were online only, not even my leads, so it was all a mess and a huge miscommunication.
I originally bought the sanrio cards for New Leaf because of the unique items you could get. Nintendo sold them via their store and it was one pack per household.
I managed to get the Sanrio cards from the Nintendo Uk store but their communication around the release in the Uk could have been better. A lot of people here were expecting them to release on the same date as the American release since they advertised the release as “end of March”. It was impossible to find out what day they would be releasing as they wouldn’t give any info when asked so when they did release them at around 2.15pm on the 31st a lot of people weren’t aware they even released here as the only way you would’ve known they’d gone online is by either stalking the Nintendo uk website, receiving a wish list email like I did (a few people who were on the wish list said they didn’t even get the email) or seeing their Twitter post which was a reply to a previous tweet (I don’t use Twitter but some were saying because it’s a reply you don’t get Twitter notifications). Not to mention there was an accidental drop on the website before the 31st where people were able to order before the listing was taken down. The good thing about the release was that they restricted orders to one per household.
The Target near me did this... couple years back I got sick of running into this issue over and over so I bought an N2 Elite, was able to get the stuff but I would have liked the cards for collectable purposes. I haven't been able to get a decent set of amiibo since BotW/Splatoon 2 amiibos came out.
They also we're supposed to have a limit of two packs for customer but there were stories of people who were in the store and saw people taking entire shelves worth.
I'm a source of chaotic good who keeps surprising people on my etsy. Whenever they buy hamtaro earrings off me and have a villager as their profile photo (or otherwise seem into ACNH), I make a set of sanrio amiibo using my NFC tag stash and include them with the order. I've had so many excited messages for doing it lmao. I just wish more of the official card were actualy available - I really wanted a set :c
The Sanrio Collab was a failure in Germany, there was a german trailer about the collab and the restock of the cards, and 2 days before the release the news came out that there will be no restock of the cards.... like what the heck!?! I'm mad at Nintendo, really really mad...
Target should’ve done a pre-order for these. My local shop (Eb Games) had pre-orders and I was able to get a pack without having a breakdown on the day of release
I bought Etsy cards right when new horizons came out for $15 bc I thought you could add them in through the campsite. I was wrong, so they just collected dust for months until now
I got the amiibo cards from the UK Nintendo store. They had a pre-order system where you could only buy them via their website, and only one per person. Was pretty good.
I managed to get two packs, one for me and one for a friend. When the site was bricking from the overwhelming number of people she was never able to grab two packs. (One would have been for her and one for another friend.) But I had to FIGHT for those cards. Reloading the shopping cart over and over and over and over, losing hope at one point and leaving, then coming back later and trying 30 more times until FIANLLY I got them! As much as I hate the fact that Target did not take the percussions to handle this event (Which I had a feeling they wouldn't take it seriously), and people were stressed and unable to get cards, it was a thrill to keep trying and eventually succeeding in buying them, watching everything unravel on twitter in the early hours of the morning, and then finally going to pick the cards up. Weirdly just fun to be part of such a crazy event.
That’s why I’m SO glad I got mine on Aliexpress four years ago, because people act SO ignorant at target. The first day they came out someone bought them ALL and started reselling them for outrageous prices...
I sat on my phone for over an hour clicking the same checkout button over and over, getting the same error message, until I could check out. They kept going in and out of stock and I started trying to get them at exactly 8 AM when they released. I ended up calling the target and they said they were having problems with the stock and online orders not lining up or something but to keep trying, so I did. I ended up getting a pack and I feel so grateful, but I definitely recommend to other people to get the homemade Amiibo cards from Etsy or to make them yourself.
To be honest, it’s not even just the scalpers who are reselling. It’s also normal people who were able to get two packs too and wanna make money, everyone is just money hungry.
I ordered homemade amibo cards on Amazon for 15 bucks. They are supposed to come next week, one of my friends got them tested them and sent me the link they work so I ordered them. It was made by a brand called zenitsu with a 4.5 star rating on Amazon comes with all 6 but they are tiny and not the size of the normal ones sold at target.
I have an idea for your theory. They could very well make the villagers tradeable one at a time so they dont fill up the market completely. Though, a more explainable / efficient method would be to wait it out and see if there’s any bugs in the game with the sanrio (tradeable) villagers, and then update it on the game and nookazon. Yuh?
I managed to get them, but I had to ask a friend from Florida to get it for me since I live in Puerto Rico and we don't have Targets. That's another thing they really didn't give any chances to people outside the USA unless you're from Canada and I think Australia? Where you could order them from bestbuy or amazon directly. Maybe if they sold them in other places besides Target it wouldn't have been the mess that it was.
I honestly wish if Nintendo restocked the Sanrio amiibos they make them available in other countries such as the uk,Europe,Australia places like that not just the United States
Raymond is still harder to get then the sanrio villigers bc you can make amiibo yourself. Which is what I did bc my country does not have target. The target price I found online: $6, the price I found online from a store that sells them in my country: €30. They don't go out of stock bc nobody is willing to pay 6x the price ( $1 = €0,83)
So I called around 9am on the day that the cards were released because when I went to place the order online, it said it was in stock but I couldn’t place the order. So then once I called to see if they were really sold out, they told me that they were having some issue with the target app not letting people place orders for the Sanrio cards but that they did have them in store in the gaming section. So I went up there, and only bought myself a pack but the person in front of me had bought what seemed like 5-7 packs which made me think he was definitely a scalper and target said that they were only going to allow customers to purchase a max of two packs. So yeah, it was a total mess but I still got lucky and got my cards!
I had the AC Sanrio on my nintendo wish list (UK) on their website and they e mailed me to ask if I wanted one (strict limit) when they had a few available. I followed the link and bought a pack for £5.99. As far as I could see these never got stocked on line but they contacted those with wish lists. So I’m lucky I got the official ones for the normal price. Especially as there’s no where else to buy the genuine ones in the UK apart from over inflated prices on eBay.
Did you get the Sanrio cards?
nopee, my parents didn’t buy em 😭

honestly i hate the fact rare / popular villagers are more expensive to trade for ,, they are posted once every second but the more unpopular villagers are impossible to find 😭
This sounds a bit too familiar.... *glances at squishmallows*
I feel so lucky to have Marty.
you-
you have marty?
*sad haven’t played animal crossing in a long time noises*
Me too
Same I'm glad I have all sanrio villagers
Same. I was so lucky enough to get the amiibo cards on the release!
Same, i have all 6 sanrio villagers luckily
My sister works at target and she gave me some inside info.
The cards will always say out of stock online but some stores still have the cards in stock. You just go up to the tech counter and ask if they have any. My sister got her pack just yesterday almost a month after they dropped.
Ya know all Sanrio characters are non-tradable. Nintendo did this to make them rare and more valuable!
I think they did that to make it so people can't just buy the cards and trade the characters to friends. Because they also come with items, it would make it even more complicated too. I t would have to transfer not just the character but their items over with them and would essentially make it so people could get the content from trading the villagers for free.
hey did u try buying them now? i just bought the whole set on amazon and it was only 11 bucks
im lowkey upset they didnt make a chococat
cat yk.
Same :(
Or a Tuxedosam Penguin :(
they have shirts and fans on pocket camp🥲 along with a few kuromi items
I wish they made some new characters too! Chococat, Pocchoco, and Kuromi would’ve been so cute!
Problem with in-store only offers is you’ll get mobs of 100+ people shoving and trampling each other for the the cards, only for some jerk to shoplift all of them (or steal them out of peoples bags on their way out).
That's why I went before it opened. Ran ahead of everyone and kept my pack close💅🏾
I got mine from Amazon, they are smaller than normal amiibo cards but they work just as good, were a reasonable price and they are glittery with a texture. They were in the low end of the double digits if anyone was wondering
LOVE THE INTRO! SO INCLUSIVE 😄
RIGHT- I HEARD IT AND WAS LIKE :OO
i'm so glad that i found out about the sanrio amiibo cards back when they were only compatible with animal crossing new leaf. i got those little amiibo coins for all of them off etsy in like 2019 and i have cherished them ever since. i never thought i'd get to see the day where i'd be able to use them again but i'm so glad.
Literally just got my morally ambiguous “cards” in the mail because scalpers are the reason why we can’t have nice things ❤️
*COUGH COUGH COUGH* WAS I, A NON-BINARY PERSON, JUST INVOLVED IN AN INTRO-?
LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOO-
And yes, I know they were rereleased after 5 years
hello kitty/sanrio is the second richest media franchise after pokemon. they seriously don’t need to worry about making more money. just make the villagers tradable jeez
I do wonder if there were people who actually bought Marty for 17k 🤔
Oh wow, that's insane! Pompompurin has always been my favorite Sanrio character so even though I knew the villagers weren't even in New Horizons at that point, I still purchased Marty's and Etoile's custom amiibo cards from a seller on Etsy (exclusively for collecting purposes). Once Nintendo announced their availability in-game recently, I tried my custom amiibo (Marty's) and it WORKED xD He's been chilling around my plaza ever since. Gotta love the little bear
“For some reason you can trade the furniture though”

*looks at my Marty that I got illegally*
I guess I have one of the most rare villagers now?
I bought a set of coins immediately off Etsy as soon as I found out that was a thing, had them within three days and didn’t even cost that much more, plus I got the satisfaction of knowing I supported a smaller person. All about cost versus value and it all added up for me!
I, like you, was up early to buy mine on the day they were released. I added them to my cart, but it wouldn’t let me complete the checkout. All hope was lost. 😢
Last week, I was trying to decide if I wanted to make my own or buy some from Etsy. 😊
Me: considering kicking Marty off my island
UA-cam algorithm: *DID YOU KNOW MARTY IS RARE?*
Me: *reconsidering*
Edit: I ended up kicking TuTu instead, I'll admit *I got too attached to Marty's Pompompurin character* 💗 & he fits in with my bear/cub themed island (PandaLanda)
Edit: *Sheeesh* relax *I can always re-invite Marty to my island* I have his amiibo card. (BTW, You CAN re-invite the same villager back on your island
Marty's cute-
Why the heck would you kick the SANRIO VILLAGERS OFF YOUR ISLAND!? ALL 6 ARE RARE. AND ONCE YOU KICK THEM OFF THE ISLAND YOU CAN'T HAVE THEM AGAIN BECAUSE THE GAME IS PROGRAMMED TO NOT LET YOU HAVE THE SAME VILLAGERS TWICE
@@KomaedasOneTrueHope I don’t know if your serious, but... You actually CAN invite villagers you’ve already kicked off your island back to your island they just won’t remember you. That’s one of the ways people make a lot of money off of characters like Marshall, Raymond, and Marina, they traded the villager with someone else and then got that villager AGAIN so they could trade it
@@tgest3608 Thank you for explaining that to them, hopefully they understand that they're able to re-obtain villagers that they've had previously
Nintendo also should release the packs worldwide and not only in the US and Japan. Almost all other countries have almost no chance of getting the official cards and have to buy fake ones. My tip would be to just make them yourself. There are a bunch of tutorials online and it is a very cheap and easy method.
Marty is happily living on my island, he's best friends with Biskit & Filbert, they're always together
this was going to happen no matter what. this is why you make your own amiibo, because the thing with amiibo is you either pay scalper pricing or you pay 12$ for like 50 tags, install an app, get the bin file for the amiibo you want, and make your own
I got my cards from eBay not long after they announced the characters return to the game, cause I knew I probably wouldn’t get them from Target for the soul fact I’d have to go out of state to get them!
About a week later I went into my local store with a friend and noted they had well over a dozen packs of the cards hanging in the video game section...It was bittersweet, but at least I could take solace in knowing I already had my pack secured at home.
laughs in animal crossing pocket camp with having him!!
Raymond, Reneigh, Cyd, Megan, Dom, Sherb and Judy are still the rarest since they're the only villagers with no amiibo cards at all
a lot of raymonds, doms, sherbs and judys exist tho bc people are more likely to take them if they find them / go nook mile ticket hunting for them bc they're popular
I hope this becomes the new villager people obsess over
I agree
i love his eyebrows
I like marty
I laughed so hard every time he said
“Buhhole”
Me who had the cards by chance on a normal trip to the mall 👁👄👁
"I don't know jack diddly shit about hello kitty" got me so hard man XD
Problem is, this makes it so us exclusive and it’s hard to get ahold of them in other places such as the uk (where I live). Just sucks how exclusive these cards are.
I got them from the nintendo uk website, when they went on pre-order.
I’m also from the U.K.,instead I just bought them off a small Etsy seller, they work fine are cheap and they are adorable! It’s just way easier :)
totally agree, they didnt even re-released them in germany even though the trailor said released at the end of march!
**laughs in getting amiibo cards from Amazon for like $20**
I found all of then for 11.99
so i work for target and was working the morning they came out. we technically cannot purchase anything until it has been on the floor (while the store is open) for at least fifteen minutes, so you bet at 8:15am i was at the electronics boat buying my amiibo cards. we ended up not selling out until like noon though because the online/pickup orders came in late, and there was a rush of people coming to buy trading cards (we restock on friday mornings and have people who literally line up for an hour before store open for them), which was a big distraction for everyone. none of us knew they were online only, not even my leads, so it was all a mess and a huge miscommunication.
WOW DAN THAT NONBINARY FRIENDS BIT MADE ME SMILE SO HARD AAAAAA TY
Pocket camp: I am 4 parallel universes ahead of you.
I got some buttons off Etsy and i couldn't be happier

I love how inclusive the intro is! Love your content Dann!
2:09 it’s good to know that I am not the only one who parks like that
*me bringing my whole family to get cards.*
The Target near me did this... couple years back I got sick of running into this issue over and over so I bought an N2 Elite, was able to get the stuff but I would have liked the cards for collectable purposes. I haven't been able to get a decent set of amiibo since BotW/Splatoon 2 amiibos came out.
So what makes Marty more rare than the other Sanrio villagers exactly?
3:34 at my target they were selling it in the store & there was a 2 per customer limit
I had to click that like instantly for that nonbinary friends line it made me so happy
They also we're supposed to have a limit of two packs for customer but there were stories of people who were in the store and saw people taking entire shelves worth.
Me who got them off Amazon for £23 and they’re real: 😳😳😳
I learned the Forbidden Art because the stoners who ran the electronics department at my target let someone walk out with all 70 lmao
I got Marty and I love him so so much
I'm a source of chaotic good who keeps surprising people on my etsy.
Ok not related to the video but in the intro when he said “ ladies gentlemen and *non-binary friends* “ I went “ omg Im a non-binary friend “
I’m so glad they made the amiibos for the older games still compatible, if not I probably wouldn’t have Marty on my island!
In my eyes Raymond is the rarest
He’s amazing.
*laughs in has the whole sanrio amiibos*
*when you don’t have target but you have Tesco that don’t sell AmIiBo CaRdS*
The cards were only available at one store in my entire state. I threw a bit of a fit and then ordered the coins off Etsy.
I honestly wish if Nintendo restocked the Sanrio amiibos they make them available in other countries such as the uk,Europe,Australia places like that not just the United States
I actually hate employees when they can't read.
