My brothers taking me to Gremlins and Ghostbusters back in the summer of 84 when I had turned 7 is what started my love of movies. I even started 1st Grade that fall with a Gremlins lunchbox and backpack, and a Ghostbusters folder. I somehow wasn't aware of the 85 re-release of Gremlins, but I'm sure if it were on my radar, I would have been there.

My guess as to how Christopher Walken ended up at Madonna and Sean Penn's wedding is around that time, Walken and Penn appeared in a movie together called At Close Range, which featured a theme song by Madonna, "Live to Tell".

If somebody were to come out with a DVD set that came with nothing but a few hours' worth of commercials from the 80s and 90s, I would be more than pleased to stay home to watch them.

Kadeem Hardison was in the Trident commercial & Wesley Snipes was in the one for Levi's. Funny enough, they were both in "White Men Can't Jump".

What a great decade, as I always say, I miss these days and the nineties very much! Nothing for me will compare to that period of my life. Such care free times, maybe that’s how we got into the mess we all find ourselves in now?

I was born in the early 90's and I love watching commercials from both decades. I feel as if the feeling of being carefree carried into the earlier 2000's as well but for me personally, everything just changed around 2005-2006 (and not for the better) and that simplicity from earlier decades was just gone forever

@@ValSempai I graduated from high school in 2006, and that’s truly when everything started to go downhill. The mid 2010s was when everything really took a nosedive.

Thanks for the Stringbeans Ties commercial. I actually still have some of my old skinny ties from the 80s. The style deserves to make a comeback. As memory serves, it seemed to be, about 10 years ago. They were certainly a welcome relief from those fat, frumpy ties from the 70s.

Wow, RIP Robin Williams, George Micheal, and most Sears stores 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Before Wesley Snipes starred in Micheal Jackson’s Bad video in 1987, the rest is movie history!

The ending voice over for Friday Night Videos was legendary New York radio DJ Scott Muni who had a very long and memorable career of over 50 years on WMCA-AM, WABC-AM, WOR-FM, WNEW-FM and finally at WAXQ-FM. Plus that unmistakable voice! He died in 2004.

I bet the Wham concert was amazing. Thank you for this awesome set. I think 1985 was one of the best years of the 80s. So much joie de vivre.

It’s weird hearing the Colosseum called Oakland Stadium.

The Miller Lite commercial with the duel was inspired by Stanley Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon."
"Friday Night Videos" makes me realize I was lucky to have MTV when I did and did not have to wait all week just to see a few videos. The theme song is the needle are still a timely memory.
I remember watching "Helltown" and noting that it came on after "Highway to Heaven."

The cotton cuneiform reminded me of how many ads in the 80s and 90s were sponsored by lobbies and not specific brands: milk, eggs, beef, pork, orange juice, raisins, etc. And they were all in response to whatever health fad was hot at the time.

Hell Town-loved that show..theme song performed by Sammy Davis Jr
Doritos-had thought the guy w/ the guitar in the hallway was the one singing the jingle
Hunter-he should've had a sniper rifle himself instead of a shotgun
Saturday Night Live-- i'd bet that Eddie was ad-libbing through that whole skit
People Magazine-when Madonna wed Sean"Paparazzi-Punch" Penn

Good old Robert Blake giving it his best shot. I hear this shoot was murder on him. It was like being in prison!
