    It's nice to see an era where 80% commercials weren't for prescription pharmaceuticals.

    1. Married...With Children Commercial Bumper- The way they make the word "Glade" fly out from behind the Bundys' couch is a nice, interesting touch. It makes you wonder what the Bundys keep behind their couch.
    Future Floor Polish- I like the exaggerated sound effects that occur whenever a spill or something else happens to make the floor dirty. Someone was certainly having fun with the sound effects in the editing room.

    I'm seeing so many commercials for movies, half of them I've never heard of, and a few very very popular ones.
    A great example of how timing of movie releases matter.

    Love all the movie commercials in this volume. I remember seeing The Dream Team in the theater, but don't remember much about it. I do remember my best friend and I really wanted to see Major League, and tried to convince our parents to take us to it, but they wouldn't, since it was rated-R. Dead Calm is a great thriller, and very underrated. Say Anything, 80s classic with the iconic "boombox" image. She's Out of Control..A movie so bad, it supposedly made Gene Siskel consider retiring from being a film critic when he watched it. Ebert also despised it, giving it a rare Zero-Star review. I saw it once out of morbid curiosity, and found it very dumb, but hardly the worst thing ever.

    13:49 - Kind of strange to think there was a time when black and white films were played on channels like Fox, and not just on specialty channels like TCM and such.

    13:48 Dunno who thought to pair "The Boys of Summer" with a 1942 baseball movie but... damn, y'know what, it works.

    15:02 it's weird hearing the song "Cry little sister" from "The Lost Boys" in another film's trailer.

    Levi's 505 Jeans-kind of a atmospheric ad
    Sing-loved the theme song by Mickey Thomas(Starship) and the end credits song"One More Time" by Michael Bolton
    Dead Calm-one movie that never should be re-made
    The Dream Team-R.I.P Peter Boyle and Stephen Furst
    It's Garry Shandling's Show-can't un-see that 😆
    Major League-ending gets me every time..

    "Just Say No ... to a dream sequence' okay I laughed at that, haha. maybe I should've watched that one, IDK. Not sure we'd see 'the dream team' or 'major league' today (at least not without a change of MLB teams in the latter) but I do remember seeing both.

    Ah, 1989 before the summer hits. Fox before "The Simpsons." January and April use to be a dumping ground for smaller films. Back then, I might have seen one commercial for a movie or a clip on MTV and gotten interested in seeing it that weekend, looked at the listing in the newspaper and picked a time to see it. The movie could be forgettable or it could become a longtime favorite that I felt like no one else saw. I went to see "She's Out of Control."

    1989 sure had a LOT of movies I was unaware of! But what was up with that Watt Hancock ad!

    "Sing" (Not to be confused with the Illumination CGI Animated Musical) is another formulaic dance drama that still hasn't receive a DVD, Blu-ray, 4K and not even streaming. But it is on UA-cam somewhere.
    "Dead Calm" is a very intense sea thriller with Nicole Kidman. Also features Sam Neil from "Jurassic Park" and Billy Zane from "Back to the Future Trilogy", "Sniper" and "The Phantom". From director, Phillip Noyce (who did two "Jack Ryan" films with Harrison Ford, "Patriot Games" and "Clear and Present Danger")
    "She's Out of Control" is a very lame and embarrassing teen comedy and simply, Tony Danza's worst! Aside from Matthew Perry, the late Dustin Diamond from "Saved By The Bell" and Michael Ray Bower from "Salute Your Shorts" made their appearances. At least Ami Dolenz is wildly attractive.
    "Say Anything..." is a classic 80s teen drama with John Cusack, Ione Skye, Lilli Taylor and the late, great John Mahoney from "Frasier" Plus, is a much better film than "She's Out of Control".
    "The Dream Team"; saw it on HBO a long time ago and it was good. Surprisingly this came out just two months before Michael Keaton became the dark knight, you know what I mean...
    "Major League" is a hilarious Baseball comedy classic with Tom Berenger, Charlie Sheen (reunite after "Platoon"), Corbin Bernsen from "L.A. Law", Wesley Snipes, Rene Russo and Bob Uecker.
    "Winter People" is a forgettable melodrama with Kurt Russell and Kelly McGillis.
    "Disorganized Crime"; I have it on DVD as a pack of other Disney/Touchstone/Hollywood titles from Mill Creek. It was alright.
    and
    "The Pride Of The Yankees" is a sad and touching Baseball drama with Gary Cooper as Lou Gehrig. A excellent Baseball player who soon was diagnosed with ALS.

    hold on isn't that Cry Little Sister in the Winter People Trailer?? i thought it was exclusively made for The Lost Boys just like Dokken's Dream Warriors was to Elm Street 3 and Ramone'sPet Sematary was for the aforementioned Stephen King movie

      It isn’t like it was used without permission. Warner Bros owns the song and Columbia paid them to use it for this trailer.

    Wait. Someone did a jingle that's a knock off of Donny and Marie? After their show was off the air??

    • @Misfit_Kitten
      @Misfit_Kitten 2 роки тому +1

      That song is even older than the talk show.

    • @baylinkdashyt
      @baylinkdashyt 2 роки тому +1

      @@Misfit_Kitten Yes, not the talk show.
      That's a remix of "Little Bit Country/Little Bit Rock and Roll", which was the anchor song of their 1976-79 variety show, "The Donny and Marie Show".
      I don't believe the song was ever released commercially; I can't even find a full length version of it on the net.
      So I was surprised it would knocked off for advertising, especially after the show went off the air.

    • @80sCommercialVault
      @80sCommercialVault  2 роки тому +1

      It's a popular song. It really doesn't matter if their show was off the air, if enough people remember a song it will probably be used in a jingle at some point.
