I am so jealous of the men that got to ride these Harleys NEW back in 1912 -1919! I was born too late!
As a dedicated British bike guy, This is my favorite channel on this American Icon!
Same for me mate
Just subscribed, been watching for couple months, very very cool!!!
Yea, but it would be cool if they got a Brough Superior and did a video on it, anything that Lawrence of Arabia rode around on is ok with me.
What a great addition to the collection! That bike is a credit to it's previous owners to be in such amazing condition!!
That was really cool!! If that was mine I'd be riding that everywhere and be too afraid to leave it anywhere.🤔
That's a piece of history right there.
Who says you can't go back in time. What a beauty!
This is what turned on my dad at seven years of age. In Milwaukee.
America and Harley Davidson had it all over the Europeans at this time. A friend had rebuilt, not restored, a J model and chair and the silly bugger gave me the honour of being the only person he trusted to take him for a ride in the chair. It was my first experience on a foot clutch/ hand shift up to the Faraday Springs where we collected some of the gently fizzy water. You can always tell how you did on the return journey when you're riding someone else's pride and joy. I rode back as proud as punch and I've wanted but never owned a UL ever since. To quote our most famous bushranger, "Such is life".
It's like you opened the coffin an pulled grandma out, then after you threw on some make up and a spritz of perfume the ole lady opened her eyes and sang... Such a beautiful woman... Bravo!
I waited 70 years to hear that 'one-of-us' ..... "Grey-Ghost" certainly fits your comment! Bravo!
@@carwashvnvmc and such a beautiful voice!
Thanks Mark!
Awesome addition to the museum. Can't wait to see in person.
Yup. Those grandmas were tough old birds. Solid American.
What ?!
I love watching y’all bring the old bikes back to life! Hopefully y’all will be able to open in the spring! Can’t wait!
Absolutely love this place. Only museum where the exhibits get used!! I’d say it’s about time for another visit.
Outstanding. Good to see old bikes live.
The lettering& striping is so simple but so beautiful!
i would be riding that to work and home every single day
This is YT genius, plain and simple! Brilliant content. Excellent camera work and sound, it feels like you're there, but not to jumpy.
...what A work of Art.❤💯
simply amazing ,..yet again,.... seeing these true icons of art and history wrapped up into one come to life....is just amazing..!!!
Too Cool... Super Rare and Ridable as well. Thanks for Sharing
Let's get 100,000 subs in memory of Dale.
Absolutely LOVED watching you work on it and then have it come to life!
Great to see the old girl run.👍🍺
There were a LOT of 61 inch HD in the W Va panhandle ex police models and that displacement was used in
export bikes like Belgium police models. Seems like engine numbers starting with EL were liter bikes, at least
for knuckleheads and panheads. We used to use 80 cuin flathead flywheels on 1937 thru 1953 models but the
1954 change to tapered roller bearings on the crank drive end couldn't use flathead cranks. We had some EL bikes
up to about 1962 when outside top end oil lines were introduced and never saw an EL past 1962. WE have been to your
museum and really enjoyed it.
Wow, what a piece of history right there, and what a wonderful sound!
This thing's in better shape than my 2000 evo!
Just to think some one a hundred years ago heard this machine roar the same way I did today. Thank you gentlemen, it was awesome!
Fantastic condition! I can’t wait to ride down from NY and check out the whole museum!
just unloading it off the trailer had to be a better rush than you could possibly get from any drug
think i would be shaking just touching it .so glad you guys are keeping those gorgeous ole bikes alive. thank you for sharing them.
Thank you for all that your channel provides. its quickly becoming my favorite channel on UA-cam

After watching a few of your videos i am now going toˇwatch and like every single one of them.
Stunning bike. Wow! Thanks guys!
You guys got the best museum for motorcycles around I don't care what anybody says I've been there a couple times like to come back again several more times what I think's need about it is you can start and ride almost anything in there pretty much
Thank you. I love this channel.
To think that was made the same year the Titanic sank....
As another devoted follower from across the pond 👍🏻.
I suppose the exhaust had operation baffle was originally to stop scaring the horses and people who had never seen a motorcycle?
Great bike, great show.
Hey Matt thanks man.Your always so informative. You always have something different to say and keep these vids interesting.
Very cool! Keep them videos coming!

She's a runner!
Matt living the dream. Very cool guy
Good program guys 🤓
It does not look out of date compared to many modern motorcycles, very lithe and stylish, you should take it on a long tour of backroads
Very cool
Love that bike 👍🔥
nice, good info
lash cap`s super high performance parts great valve tip protection with big cam`s and springs and roller rocker`s used all the time in racing and performance a very advanced component ! easy to replace than a worn valve ! just saying about your statement @ 4.12 is WRONG !
Great video
Too cool for school!
very cool
Epic
I am still up on 2 just don't have a motor. Bayside
You better be wearing hearing protection with as much sound as that thing creates and vibration
Man that headlight something? Haa
Wheels thru time. Good afternoon did the gentlemen get ahold of you that I referred to you with the early Indian twin engine and the Harley Davidson engines that were earlier including a 1903 single cylinder model f I think love the videos. Something I'm passionate about that no one else is as knowledgeable as you obviously are. Virgil
👍
Yeap my grandfather owned exact one. Wish I know what happened to it ?? Hmm probably worth some $$$. Today

Thanks for the video!
Surprised no marvel mystery oil in cylinders before start
Since the valve lash on the intake and exhaust valves was off quite a bit, does that indicate that the seats have been pounded down?
No, that would actually tighten everything up, think about it, if the valve sunk deeper it would raise up the end of the rocker that pushes on the valve stem and rotate the other end of the rocker down, tightening it up at the tappet.
What kind of oil do these take
Show ¡¡¡!!!!!!!!
You may have mentioned it but which fuel do you generally use in most of the machines?
I think he said 100octane low lead. Basically aviation fuel.
Hundred octane is way too much for them old girl he's probably burning something closer to 60 octane
@@vector6977 couldn't do low lead it needs the lead for lubrication of the upper cylinder head
Sounds like a 100miles on the odometer
It's a smoker, but that´s ok do too its age !! ;-))
Love the museum and what an honor to see this old bike fire up and run like that! I live just over in Mars hill NC, And have hoped to bring my daughter in to your museum ASAP. Hopefully we can get that done soon! I visited as a kid and I still remember that day as one of my faves of all time! Keep up the good work fellers!

The only downside of living in New Zealand is not being able to find any classic or old Harleys and small block V8s - I know they are still around in USA, barn-finds... totally jealous....
How do you buy parts like plugs or other consumables for something like this?
I think Matt's dad has spent a lifetime going to auctions.
Plugs are still available today most of them take the same plug that was in the old Model T
I do not know much about the engine`s but the adjustment for valve lash was excessive on this one .I would wonder about the cam wear and cam bushings . Top all that off with excessive oil burning that old bike was beat up bad. The import cars had the same lash caps into the 70`s .
with total loss oiling you want to see a bit of smoke as that is how the top end get lubricated on this era bike
👍🏼🏍🖖🏼😀😀😀
Is it possible to give us what the price of some of these old bikes were when they were new as in purchased
Donald Washington priceless
And yes, its leaking oil.
Not leaking oil that is a total loss oil system which means oil never returned back to the tank it is dumped out on the ground. Not only that old Harley don't leak they only mark their spots
@@brenttate9299 I'm fairly sure the total loss oil system was really only used by then on racing bikes, considering there doesent appear to be a oil pump lever anywheee
@@wildman510 you may be fairly sure but you are incorrect total loss system with even used on the transmission models besides the pedal start matter of fact I have a 1923 here and it is still an oil total loss system please do research before you open your Yap
@@wildman510 it was 1936 the knucklehead before they had a recirculating oil system
A Harley V Twin with pedals....
No Dale?
Ill give you 5 hundred for it
สวัสดี ครับ 😘😘😘
Hope these aren't worth much, I just cut one up and made a go-cart with the motor and scrapped the rest of it, looked exactly the same but the tires were black and both were flat. I thought someone built it as a joke. Got it from a house clean-out, it was in the garage with a tarp over it and boxes stacked on top of it. I did keep the headlight for my fishing boat but it fell in the water the other night while fishing when I got a hit on my line.
PS: couldn't figure out how to start the motor so that got scrapped as well, I was super mad after all the work I did so I beat it with a sledge hammer. Sure wish I saw this video a year ago... oh well
Why don't you get these things out on the main road and really open up
That would make too much sense duh.
@@wildman510 Hwy 19 all the way to Cherokee then Bryson city
NC . We have cabin in area take granddad's old Indian and Harley Davidson s 1930s - 1950s out on 10 - 150 + mile trips they are low mile original bikes but a long exercise keeps them going .. many.
Nice hills .. US 441 is best to Pigeon Forge why have them afraid to enjoy ...
Are therr any reproduction motors that dont cost an arm and a leg to get? Because i wanna get one to tinker with
