5:56 This is probably the best explanation ever! Thanks for the help, got my pp180 running smooth again. I like your tip with the foam can nozzles. I took one and superglued it to a long junk hex screwdriver that came from some long-lost Walmart furniture set. Now I have a tool I can use to adjust carbs anytime.
Bob, you saved the day! The "great stuff" tube pressed on perfectly. I used a marker to mark the "top" of the tube near the carburetor for reference. My Husqvarna 445 started fine, but when I pulled throttle lever it would bog down and begin to die unless I let go of the throttle. It wouldn't run at operating speed, only about 1/3 speed. Here's what fixed the problem. My Low took about 1/4 turn to the left (open) to be more responsive to throttle. The High took about 1/4 turn to the left (open) to remove the "stalling" issue and now it runs perfectly!! Back in action, thanks to you... You're the man today! Happy New Year!!
Thanks Bob; you’re a genius. I was able to adjust my carb with an electrical connector instead of buying a tool and waiting weeks for it to arrive in the mail. Idles like new now.
What he said! The Idle adjustment screw is clearly visible and there is an opening in the green cover to adjust it without removing anything. That is the adjustment used to set idle just below the speed that chain starts to move.
Whoever insisted manufactures use this style of tool is a tool themselve. They should be put in jail for 5 consecutive life sentencs for ripping off the consumer.
Came to UA-cam to find the bog solution and was able to fix three saws with blue electrical connectors and get back to work. Save my hide. You the man.
I have a Poulan Pro 42cc saw which is new, and I just got it to start, but it will only run for about 15 to 30 seconds on average before it quits. I figured that the adjustments for the carburetor was incorrect. I don't have the special wrenches needed to adjust the hi, and lo settings, and will look for some at the local saw shop tomorrow. I thank you for providing us with this information and I will see if my older Poulan saw is in need of adjustment also, but it have given me great service since 2000 when I got it new.
Shops will probably not sell you those as the epa doesn't want you to adjust them. You can order them on e Bay from China for less than 10 bucks or do what this guy did.
Simply brilliant. Thank you Bob; as I need to adjust a splined h screw today. Thank you for a job well done!! It is people like you that make you tube learning great.
I’m taking the time to tell you I appreciate the tip. My sh!t as* poulan wouldn’t idle didn’t have the tool and I used your tip and it worked thanks man !!
Yeah, I am going to take advice from this guy who cannot even see the idle speed screw in front of him. And has to write L and H, when it is embossed on the cover he took off.
Great video 👍👍! You just saved a chainsaws life. I was just about to pull out the 20lb sledg hammer to make the adjustment. No other tools was working.
Hint; I use to use icemaker tubing, just warm it up so it'll stretch, then slip it on and let it cool, better than the $15 tool that you can only get if you've got a license
Thanks! Great Idea. I think I have one of those Great Stuff cans. I was going to just order the stupid tool. But, that's what they want you to do. That is why they now make those things with special tools instead of just a flat-head or Phillips head. Plus, I need to do some cutting this week and my Poulan is idling too fast. I can't wait a week or two for tool to get here. Thanks again. I'll try this.
Your video was a little long Bob, but you gave a great tip on how to adjust the set screws. I didn't have either the tube or a butt splice, but I was able to use the insulated end of an alligator clip. Thanks for the idea.
Thanks for the video. I was trying to figure out something to use without searching for that special tool. Where I live there are few stores close. Like you I have a lot of stuff that I keep because I know it will be useful someday.
Great video. I tried this and it worked and got me through the day. Also, I ended up buying the spline tool on Amazon for $6 with free shipping for next time.
Those screws come in many different configurations besides splined,a whole set of drivers that will cover most 2 cycle carb high speed low speed adjustment screws, are available on amazon for a few bucks.Do your self a favor and buy them....
Hey Bob, got a poulon 14" wildthing. Won't stay running, rebuilt carb, changed filte,r, lines plug would run in choked idel set with choke itself open. Rebuilt again and thorough cleaned. Still couldn't get the damm thing to stay running except in the stepup choke setting no matter adjustment. High or low. So,,, ordered a brand new carb,,, same sad thing. What am I looking for? Thing looks just like mine cept it has purple plastic and green
Great hack thank you for this. I've been looking for the stupid tool at several locations... pain in the arse!! I'll use your trick tomorrow and get my saw back o the game!!! Thumbs up!!
Great video my friend. Since you do not charge either will I here is another secret, Shrink tubing , Heat and a screw on the other end (cut screw to fit. ) put tubing on suggest heating screw end first before on one end leave long . THEN put on the other end keep short as possible heat adjust remove if necessary. If possible I leave on....
I love how some people come up with the simplest solutions that i can never figure out. Thank you.

to arrive in the mail. Idles like new now.
thanks Gary, glad it helped you. bob
Thanks Bob for the awesome tip. My chain saw been sitting for 4 years, now its running perfectly. 👍👍👍
Idle speed screw is below those adj screws. There's a hole in the recoil housing for that.
What he said! The Idle adjustment screw is clearly visible and there is an opening in the green cover to adjust it without removing anything. That is the adjustment used to set idle just below the speed that chain starts to move.

YOU THE MAN!I sat for 2 days staring at needle nose pliers and a glue gun to figure a simple hack like this...thanks.
Came to UA-cam to find the bog solution and was able to fix three saws with blue electrical connectors and get back to work. Save my hide. You the man.
Brilliant idea Bob. Will remember this. You the man! 👍😊
Dude fricking smart...probly the best hint right when im tearing apart my life looking for that stupid tool...thanks
I made one out of the small end of a bic pen.
Best youtube video about this I used a plastic wire connector and flathead and fixed my bog issue.

i have videos on how to adjust a carburetor with things you have at home.
I have to check those videos out since I will be doing adjustments on all my saws, and trimmers at one time.
Shops will probably not sell you those as the epa doesn't want you to adjust them. You can order them on e Bay from China for less than 10 bucks or do what this guy did.
The idle adjustment is that hole in between your L-H FYI
Simply brilliant. Thank you Bob; as I need to adjust a splined h screw today. Thank you for a job well done!! It is people like you that make you tube learning great.
Thanks a bunch BOB.. you saved me a big headache with your video. Brilliant. Thanks.
I’m taking the time to tell you I appreciate the tip. My sh!t as* poulan wouldn’t idle didn’t have the tool and I used your tip and it worked thanks man !!

Sir you are a Genius. I thank you so much as I didn't have that carb tool. This worked Great. Thank you again !!!

thank you again
Thanks a lot, man! A red butt connector and a little finesse got me the 1/4 - 1/2 turn I needed on the high idle and I'm up and running.
The idle screw is under your high low adjustment on that model you can see it right by the choke
great thanks.
thanks
outdoorstech o
Yeah, I am going to take advice from this guy who cannot even see the idle speed screw in front of him. And has to write L and H, when it is embossed on the cover he took off.
I appreciate the ideas. It helped out and saved me $$$ THANK U!
Great video 👍👍! You just saved a chainsaws life. I was just about to pull out the 20lb sledg hammer to make the adjustment. No other tools was working.

Cool tip, thanks! I have a spent can of that foam, so I won't throw away the tube!
Hint; I use to use icemaker tubing, just warm it up so it'll stretch, then slip it on and let it cool, better than the $15 tool that you can only get if you've got a license
vary cool, thanks

i have another video on this, of other things you can use that works too. look it up. thanks for watching.
The EPA doesn't want the end user to adjust the carb,(air quality regulations).as well as putting limiters on as too....
Awesome thanks for the indepth gonna tune my saw this week
Your video was a little long Bob, but you gave a great tip on how to adjust the set screws. I didn't have either the tube or a butt splice, but I was able to use the insulated end of an alligator clip. Thanks for the idea.

Btw, your carburetor adjustment screw looks like it would be through that little hole that is between where you have it marked low and high
Great vid Bob. Genius idea.
Awesome man thank you so much for this but I think you need to tighten your chain a little bit it looks pretty loose
I've used the same plastic tube cut to 4"" and magic marked at the end for rotation referencing.
Those screws come in many different configurations besides splined,a whole set of drivers that will cover most 2 cycle carb high speed low speed adjustment screws, are available on amazon for a few bucks.Do your self a favor and buy them....
I'm always doing shit too.
Seems the cheaper, crappier things get made,, the longer that shit list gets
Hey, the idle speed screw is between and below the two mixture screws.
What an awesome solution!!! Thank you for the video, and for the advice on how to move the screws as well.
glad to help.
Your idle speed screw is the hole in the lower case just below the mixture screws. Thanks for you help
thank you.
This guy is the real deal lol love the comments!
thank you.
Not all hero’s wear capes
Bob's Lawn Service & Plowing
The idle screw is just below the H-L adjustment screws.
“I got a whole bunch of these cuz I’m always doing shit” 🤣
cool, works on a lot of 2 cycle stuff
I got a chainsaw like that it runs but when you let off of the throttle it bogs out what causes that
The idle speed screw is between the H/ L mixture screws. Honestly.... you didn't know that?
I like it. Thanks
Use a red butt connector crimp a piece of copper wire or small screw in it. Drop of super glue on the other end slide it on and you’re good to go.
if my poulan p3818av is having issues with not getting enough gas is it the low screw I have to hire? plus it has a T idle screw as well.
Hey Bob, got a poulon 14" wildthing. Won't stay running, rebuilt carb, changed filte,r, lines plug would run in choked idel set with choke itself open. Rebuilt again and thorough cleaned. Thing looks just like mine cept it has purple plastic and green
have you changed the gas filter in the tank? check the compression. check to see if the exhaust or muffler is clogged. new plug !!!!!!!!!!!!
After rebuilding carbureter on a poulan pro pp4218a it will start but won't stay running
A piece of 1/4 " copper tube works also.
Your idle screw is right in between the “L” and “H” letters.
the idle tool costs 5 bucks and you dont need to take the cover off
Well shit. Wish I saw this 2 weeks ago. Before waiting 2 weeks for my screwdriver to show up. Great video!!
Great idea! Thanks for posting.

ua-cam.com/video/HquG1U1_uLk/v-deo.html

75 dislikes are the special tool makers
or just buy the adjustment tools off of amazon or ebay for like 10 bucks.
Legit my ryobi idles but Boggs down but then I'll start it up and it idles high and starts running
It does have an idle. Its the hole between the L & H
you forgot to adjust the carb. also the idle screw is on the left side of the saw.
The idle screw would have to bite you I guess before you will find it! Look at the cover L low H high i idle
Yeah, I have the electric connectors, good idea!
awesome thanks for the tip
thankyou!!!
your idle screw is one of those 2 holes right by your other 2 screws
Dremel thin tiny cut wheel it just became a flat screw driver

Salut! nice video!bravooooo!!!.
Bob fire that puppy up and adjust it, hear it is a lot better.
good job
What's that screw for at the end of the hole between your "L" and "H"?
that is the idle screw, to turn the idle up and down.
That was cool as sh!t I will definitely use that trick 🤔 I think the idle screw is under the inside end of that blue lever on your saw.
thanks
You sound like Jesse Ventura!
a flat screw would be normal
Well I’ll be damned 🤠👍
Mines dies when I go cut a tree
Fuck a Poulan! Buy a Stihl or Echo!!!
