After replacing my carb I watched your video and had my saw back up and running in 15mins. Thank you so much for giving a plain down to earth way to adjust my carb. My 10+ year old poulan saw runs like a champ now. Excellent video!
Holy crap! I have two Poulans that I have been messing with for over a week now. I watched probably 10 different videos and still couldn't get them running effectively. I just watched yours, and 10 minutes after they are both running great! Thank you!!!
New subscriber here, thank you so much for showing me how to properly adjust the carburetor, and don't listen to the guy's saying that you spoke gibberish, I understood everything you said and it worked out well for me so thank you so much for helping me out, now I am able to cut these Mississippi trees 🌳.... cannot emphasize enough for your help, thanks again.
I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.
Excellent video man you talked about the things that need to be talked about and left out the useless stuff I will definitely come back looking for your videos keep up the awesome work I wish everybody on UA-cam did them the way you do
BS or not, following the instructions got my craftsman, same as poulan, working properly. It wouldn't idle after it was warm. Now it runs better than it did new. Thanks for the great information. BTW I enjoy the "BS" and such.
Thank u i pulled on a wood shark poulan for 6 hours yesterday trying to adjust it and redone all gas lines and got it adjusted just right on the first start today it runs better than ever now
Thanks for the video I just got two saws running from 4 years of storage all the gas evaporated out of the tanks needles to say I'm going to order a couple primer bulbs
Steve, Thank you for sharing your expertise. I am having a heckuva time getting mine to run right. What is the bottom adjustment for? On the cover, it has a letter T.
Hey Fred,my manual states that if the chain is moving while in idle, turn counterclockwise and if stalling, turn clockwise. T -idle speed. If chain is moving in idle, idle is too fast. If stalling, idle is too slow.
Hi Steve my name is Randy. So I've got several chain saws and have had many over the years. My first couple of saws were poulan and to be honest with you I never had a minutes problem with other than I use them so much that I completely wore them out and at the time I was young and dumb and felt like it was just easier to buy a new one. As I've gotten a whole lot older I don't think that way anymore. LOL I currently own my main chainsaw is a Stihl , but I also have 2 or 3 poulan saws and a pretty good size homelite saw. Well the last poulan saw that I bought was a pl3816 which I only bought because I was no where near home and found myself needing a chainsaw so I bought this poulan from wally world and right out of the box it was hard to start and even when I could get it running it wouldn't stay running at an idle. I should of returned it but figured I could tune it and get it right once I got back home. Well 3 yrs later in just now getting around to looking at it. I've watched your video and like on your saw the low idle was way off. So I followed your advice in this video and it helped but the problem is that no matter what I do the chain won't stop spinning unless you put the break on which then it cuts off. I'm not sure where the trigger adjustment is set and to the best of my recollection it didn't seem like you gave any instructions on that. Anyhow I was just wondering if you had any ideas of what may be causing this issue. I've checked the chain, sprockets etc... all looks well with the chain tension set right. The only other thing that I could guess is if the sprocket is controlled by a clutch mechanism and if so then maybe the clutch is messed up. What are your thoughts on that? Thanks for your video as it was very informative and helpful and I greatly appreciate your time. Sincerely, Randy
Thanks for the tips. On another note: bought a Poulan 2055LE for $20 and couldn't get it to run. The throttle trigger didn't feel right. Turned out the linkage wire between trigger to carb was bent (too much play) bent it a bit and it runs fine.
A good, straightforward approach to getting a chainsaw adjusted, I think you turned the low screw all the way to the right until the low setting was closed. Then you opened it up two turns to the left. Am I correct? Yhis is one of the best videos I have seen on chainsaw adjustments. Keep up the good work.
Thank-you for this you should have more subscribers I was so lost thinking I had a 200 dollar paperweight brand new never used and won't freaking run for more than two seconds
Great video, very informative. I have 3 P3314. 2 for trimming branches here and there on my property and one (just the engine) going in a RC helicopter I'm building. I needed your video to adjust them all. Thanks. BTW, since the very beginning of youtube or facebook, I never understood why some people freak out on safety issues in videos made by complete strangers to them, sometimes, in another country with different values as well as on videos dating back years and years ago. oh and by the way I think it's pronounced poo-lan :)
Hey recently, yesterday, changed out the fuel lines on my 3314. Now when I go to start it it will start after heavily priming the bulb, then 30 seconds max it shuts off. Now I'm not a small engine repair, and I'm easy to forget one line to one place and one to another. That said I'm wondering if maybe I've crossed the two fuel lines? I was able to prime the bulb it took some time but I chalked it to being fresh lines and first fill. Would I still be able to prime and start if I crossed them? Or is this a case of needing the tune up on the carb, when first removing the green pull cord plate I did inadvertently remove what turns out to be the T screw with the spring, wouldn't have realized that either had I not dropped a small hose clamp I tried to used to keep the old fuel line on the primer outlet, found new lines worked better. The clamp landed on the tank and my reacher magnet picked up the surprise Throttle screw. So she does start and run 30 seconds, mirical, what's your thoughts? I mean pertaining to the saw not staying on?
so using this method I can get it close however, it wont stay started... I have replaced the fuel lines, fuel filter, air filter and spark plug, The only thing I can think is replacing the carburator but I don't think that necessary
I replaced my Poulan chainsaw carb and she started immediately. Problem is she idles very high. Tried lowering idle screw and following your adjustments. Other ideas?
Very Good Video and I like your Comedian type personality I can tell you have been doing this for many years and not all on chainsaws You could probably tell some Nasa Scientist how to start there boosters ha
I might add if people would listen carefully they would understand totally how to adjust there carburetors The secret is turning the adjustment screws all the way in and then turning out 1 turn to start Why can't they listen So funny how they make rude comments and they are here to learn how to adjust there carburetors ha what a bunch of jerkoffs If they new anything they would know most carbs even on vehicles start with a turn and a half out to tweek them lol
What tools should I get to tune up this chainsaw. Recently purchased a used one and want to tune it correctly; i.e. adjust idle, use correct fuel filter, air filter, spark plug, etc. Cheers
Steve, good DYS instructions. My Pouuuuulan 3314 melted the plastic of frame around the clutch and top of oil pump: I replaced oil pump and chain brake, and cleaned the melted plastic out. Followed all of your video and she will only start at 1.5 turns left (cc), H and L and I can't adjust diddlely squat. I let it idle for a minute and it start smoking creating a smoke screen; army style. I suspect a got a bad clutch spring, as the spring appears loose, stretches easily. Got chatering while idling. I m about to can the b b baby and get something pro. FYI, I m a mechanical engineer 30 yrs experience that likes to do all at home. No roofing or Ac compressor stuff.
Throttle Linkage Screw??? What is this screw for? I thought it tightened the case, and turned it tight clockwise. Now what? I did your low and high adjustments just like you said, and my garage sale find started on the first pull!!!!! Thank you.
The "nonsense" was great. Lol! Time well spent! Just picked one of these saws up from Lowe's a while ago. The saw was shit out of the box. Did my research, and I believe this is my answer! Thanks for the entertainment and great info!
Sir - really great video - the only issue I have with it is I was unable to see which screw you were adjusting. It appeared that you never adjusted the High while it was running, is this correct? I think you backed out both the Low and High 1.5 turns then only adjusted the Low, again is this correct? V/R Mike
I have a pouland tree trimmer . purchased a new carburetor . got it running but when I attach the extension on the motor side and try to rev up the unit it dies. I need to adjust the load screw but not sure which is the load. How do you tell if not marked ?
you showed the high and low but many have a idle adjustment screw you did not cover that that's what i'm interested in on my polan FL3314 the high and low on mine are fine but for some reason its idling to high with brake on after awhile the clutch will start getting hot
I got that same saw, I made the mistake of running it all day because I was cleaning tops and stuff; I paid the price the next day. The poulan pro I have is bigger and heavier but the anti vibration in the handle saves you the next morning. I use that saw sparingly now but it's a shame because it starts and runs really well.
Bought a 2375 a few months ago for 40$. Primer bulb is busted, darn thing still cranks with 2-3 pulls and after tuning runs like a champ. Good video, anyone know how to mod the muffler? Or if it's even worthwhile?
Hey I was curious where you pick up that tool kit at because you said you were going to leave the link in the description and I don't see a link in the description that all

The auto subtitles for the deaf worked perfectly until the motor was running. Lol. I guess it could not hear you to keep translating. Oh well I will figure it out. Thanks.
A bunch of "Ritchies" in the comments who are triggered by Steve's helpful banter. Good grief! They guy took the time to explain and share helpful info, and Ritchie's are cramping up because they had to endure a few moments of FREE banter?? As if they were forced to watch... Probably the same people who clog up the airport terminal walkway lining up for Boarding Group D when Group A has yet to be announced...
Best video ever on the subject. I just watched this, then immediately tuned 2 chainsaws and my weed eater to perfection. Thank you.
After replacing my carb I watched your video and had my saw back up and running in 15mins. Thank you so much for giving a plain down to earth way to adjust my carb. My 10+ year old poulan saw runs like a champ now. Excellent video!

Just ordered the tool and fixed mine myself. Saved 100 bucks instead of getting it repaired thanks
Best carb adjustment video on the internet! Thanks so much Steve!

Thank u i pulled on a wood shark poulan for 6 hours yesterday trying to adjust it and redone all gas lines and got it adjusted just right on the first start today it runs better than ever now
Thank you for taking the time to make the video. What did the final setting turn out to be?
Thank you no one else shows the screw adjustments like you thank you again.
Thanks for the video I just got two saws running from 4 years of storage all the gas evaporated out of the tanks needles to say I'm going to order a couple primer bulbs
Your video was very helpful. The safety tips are awesome. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Piotr
Appreciate this video, and the amazing choices in protective, yet stylish equipment!
I’m glad I found this, my pouland is starting but not running for more then 10 seconds at most, don’t think I have one of those tools tho!😬
Steve, Thank you for sharing your expertise. I am having a heckuva time getting mine to run right.
What is the bottom adjustment for? On the cover, it has a letter T.
Well, tinkered with that POS chain saw until my blister hurt. Tossed it in the trash and grabbed a beer. 3 days on that thing is enough of my time.
Hey Fred,my manual states that if the chain is moving while in idle, turn counterclockwise and if stalling, turn clockwise.
T -idle speed.

Couldn’t get the damn saw to run with out the choke pulled followed everything in the video saw runs great
now THANKS
So what were your final adjustments out on the L and the H jets? How many turns out on each one was the sweet spot? Thanks!
It’ll be different for different locations
Great video for the DIY home owner. Thank you sir. Could you do a video on adjusting the throttle screw please?
Great lesson, super tips. Love the humour.
Thanks for the tips. On another note: bought a Poulan 2055LE for $20 and couldn't get it to run. The throttle trigger didn't feel right. Turned out the linkage wire between trigger to carb was bent (too much play) bent it a bit and it runs fine.

Thank-you for this you should have more subscribers I was so lost thinking I had a 200 dollar paperweight brand new never used and won't freaking run for more than two seconds
This guy is hilarious and extremely knowledgeable. If u don’t like his videos don’t watch assholes.

Thank you from Tucson. Tuned it, now cutting.
Too much gibberish just talked about the chain Saw dude
It's an 8 minute video. I think you'll live 🤦🏻♂️ don't like it find another video
Ahhhhhhhh don’t be a DICK he’s trying to help. Thank you for going over the mixture settings… Semper Fidelis
Then fix it yourself and make your own boring vanilla pc video
Its an 8 minute video dude
Great video, can't wait to try it out. However, the links are missing below, I'm interested in the pack of adjustment screwdrivers. Thanks again!

Been pulling on my poulan 30 min finally got it going
What did use to adjust the carburetor, it takes a special tool. You should mention it.
No links for the tool kit, or hat! Can you reply with both! Thank you sir for an awesome video!
Thanks this helped. I slotted my adjustment screws with a dremel.
Your to funny!!! You have a cool personality!!! Thanks for the video it helped me, I was laughing 😃
so using this method I can get it close however, it wont stay started... I have replaced the fuel lines, fuel filter, air filter and spark plug, The only thing I can think is replacing the carburator but I don't think that necessary

Super helpful! Thanks for making this video!
What is the tool kit you used couldn't find the link to purchase
Me either. 😢 lol
Sweet, easy, and simple, thank you!
Thanks. Just did my Poulan chainsaw and weed eater. Just ran both briefly. But, much better. See what happens when I use fully!!!
I like this guy,,& I like the hat even better !
Throttle Linkage Screw??? What is this screw for? I thought it tightened the case, and turned it tight clockwise. Now what? I did your low and high adjustments just like you said, and my garage sale find started on the first pull!!!!! Thank you.
That’s another way of saying idle screw
I did the same thing with that screw
Thank you for an awesome clear video...and funny too )))!!!
Steve, I believe you forgot to post the link for the Polan chainsaw tool kit. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
The "nonsense" was great. Lol! Time well spent! Just picked one of these saws up from Lowe's a while ago. The saw was shit out of the box. Did my research, and I believe this is my answer! Thanks for the entertainment and great info!
So, 1 & 1/2 turns out each then micro adjustment?

I think you backed out both the Low and High 1.5 turns then only adjusted the Low, again is this correct?

Mike
He adjusted the high towards the end of it running to bring the idle down low is how it runs and high is ur idle
No low is idled down to stop the chain! H is tweaked by ear at high speed for cutting!
My chainsaw looks to have a red and a blue plastic cap or cover over the set screws. Are they to be there or is it best to remove them ?
I have a pouland tree trimmer . purchased a new carburetor . got it running but when I attach the extension on the motor side and try to rev up the unit it dies. I need to adjust the load screw but not sure which is the load. How do you tell if not marked ?
Dude your great !! Thanks buddy
Great video. I got the info I wanted and a chuckle or two.
this dude made my day. effing Richiiiieee
Thank you!
where are the links... Great video and a good honest chuckle.
you showed the high and low but many have a idle adjustment screw you did not cover that that's what i'm interested in on my polan FL3314 the high and low on mine are fine but for some reason its idling to high with brake on after awhile the clutch will start getting hot
Quick question. Why does mine die out when I turn it in it’s side to cut? Is that an adjustment issue?
Thanks for the tip.
Steve, where should the "Idle" screw be to start with? I lost the setting it was at.
Bought a 2375 a few months ago for 40$. Primer bulb is busted, darn thing still cranks with 2-3 pulls and after tuning runs like a champ. Good video, anyone know how to mod the muffler? Or if it's even worthwhile?
Zak F search up buckin billy Ray, he is the hot rod saw daddy
Thank you. Your great
Wow ! 8:52 I'll never get back ! If you were looking for your 15 minutes of fame, you still have 6:08 to embarrass yourself again, BRILLIANT !
Hi
Oil chain regulation screw on Poulan 2800, if I turn it clockwise, does goes more or less oil for lubricating the chain?
Down here in Tennessee it's pronounced pole ann ........it just depends on where you live
Awesome 👌
Lol must be a great neighbor..funny guy
Chain stopping while cutting.... What is the problem
When trying to start mine, it revs up really high and then shuts off. What could be happening here?
Hey I was curious where you pick up that tool kit at because you said you were going to leave the link in the description and I don't see a link in the description that all
this is what I got
www.amazon.com/TOPEMAI-Carburetor-Adjustment-Screwdriver-Carburator/dp/B07GKXXRLC/ref=asc_df_B07GKXXRLC/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309813767497&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3855521395977483383&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9009671&hvtargid=pla-570688589215&psc=1
I got a similar tool kit, it has 11 different styles.
Almost a waste of time . So whats the basic screw setting , I got the 1 1/2 turns out from full in , but what did ya end up with ?
Hi I didn't get the link for the hat.mine is a p3818.and doesn't run good either I still working on it ha
i see no link :(
it is called pull a lot
To much BS. Adjust the saw.. mercy
Very informative!! Thanks Brother!
What kind of adjustment does the Phillips screw below L H screws need
Idle screw?
I call them PULL-ON'S because you usually have to pull on them all day. Lol!
Where’s the links you promised Mr. Fixit?
I am sorry but couldn't upload links so tell me what you are looking for and I well upload in a reply. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I like your hat. Keep up the great work. I enjoy your sense of humor. 👍🏼👍🏼
Link for the tool kit?
It's pronounced "pull in" because you just keep a pulling and a pulling...lol
Where is the link for the tools?
Co co come the fuck on!!!jeese I had to watch this video three times due to me falling asleep in the middle of the first two.
Can you send the link for the Pollan p3314 tool kit?
The auto subtitles for the deaf worked perfectly until the motor was running. Lol. I guess it could not hear you to keep translating. Oh well I will figure it out. Thanks.
Thanks Richy
Thx so much for making this video, but id be more worried about carbon monoxide poisoning than ear protection
Yep got one and thats all you do with it is pull on it ( get it poulon )
