This will be a very quick video reviewing the new YLI hand quilting thread. (My first video was all complete when I realized the camera had not recorded it. Equipment problem? User error? I'm not sure but here is a quick re-shoot of the review.
Overall, I really like this thread and think that it may be an improvement for me over the Americana quilting thread but I am concerned about the price. A quick Google search is showing that YLI hand quilting thread retails at $8-8.50 per roll (500 yds). This is an increase from .99 per roll (150 yds).
I would recommend this thread if you're comfortable with the price. I will be trying it on a future project.
(The spool I received had no labeling so I was unaware of the quantity of thread on this spool until after the video was recorded. At 500 yards per spool, the thread is not as expensive as I initially believed.)
Below you will find some additional information on the thread provided by YLI:
    "New Hand Quilting Thread.
    1. It is a cotton thread. The smooth finish is glazed, which is used with most hand quilting threads. A glazed finish strengthens the thread, keeps it from tangling or knotting, and makes it glide smoothly through the fabric layers.
    2. The thread is made from extra-long staple Egyptian cotton. It is the same size (#40/3-ply) as our original hand quilting thread. We have received one or two comments asking us if it is thinner. Most likely, a thinner feel is due to the improved, high-grade processing on this thread.
    3. If the thread feels rigid as soon as it unwinds off the spool, allow it a minute or two to "relax" after unwinding.
    4. The yardage on the spool (500 yds.) is the same as our existing hand quilting thread on a wooden spool. The current wood spool is larger and has a larger inner diameter, so it appears to have more thread, but they have the same amount of thread. Wooden spools are no longer available to us.
    5. We have started production on the four most-requested colors: White, Natural, Ecru, and Black."
I received one spool of thread to try as a sample. YLI did not ask for a video review, only feedback on their website. This is not a sponsored video or a promotion.
