🚨This video contains details about Houthi attacks on shipping, so UA-cam decided to demonetize it. However, this is an important topic, so here it is, unedited. 🚨
Thanks for the information!
UA-cam is getting worse. I've had a number of comments deleted recently and they was no reason. 😐
What's the problem, the facts don't fit their narrative?
some things are more important than monetization.
thanks for doing the right thing.
This is how UA-cam becomes as controlling as mainstream media.
UA-cam may not value this content, but I do.

YT took half that money it values that.
Thank you so much!

Sal you are consistently factually covering news that main stream media ignores, which has an impact on everyone. Thank you.
MSM is all too frequently about an agenda or narrative
Not "ignores". More like "Obstructs".
UA-cam decisions to demonitize some reporting is making me reconsider its' value to me. Keep up the excellent work.
that, with the attacks on adblockers, makes me consider a reconsideration as well
Look at it logically. Are you pro-Hxxxx/pro-terrxxxxx or are you pro-Ixxxxx/pro-genxxxxx? Think about it for a minute. Who wants more videos talking about the Houthis attacking commercial shipping? Who wants to sweep all this under the rug and pretend it isn't happening?
GoogleTube - getting more and more PC all the time.
Eventually it is just going to be "The Kitten Channel."
Google has been sensoring since 2018. Nothing new. A transgender teen is selling home made hormones. No issue. :) If it fits their narrative you are good!!
Unfortunately, it seems the alternatives are not up to the task either. I think one thing we can do is to pay special attention to demonetized videos ( ones that are good / demonetized for no good reason) and try to make them popular / highly viewed despite their suppression.
Sal singularly keeps 'Tommy Bahama' in business w/ those beautiful shirts!!❤👍✨
Sal consistently stands out at the tiki lounge near you. or me.
Thanks, Sal, for increasing my knowledge of merchant shipping issues to something greater than zero!
You bet!
The rocket assist takeoff of the Houthi Drone is called either a "RATO" Rocket Assisted Take Off, or a "JATO" Jet Assisted Take Off, take your pick. The purpose of this "assist" is to give the drone a little bit of altitude but more importantly to get it up to its maximum speed as soon as possible and that is why you hear its propeller whining so loudly because the little onboard engine is revved up to max throttle for takeoff.
I love your description.
"Armed Merchantmen Ship" may be making a comeback....
Or it never really went away......
Unless they are armed with CIWS or better there's little a merchant ship could do against missiles or drone strikes.
How do you shoot drones?
Really! And they're going to provide security where naval battleships failed?
@@joelv4495 Prop drones are light and slow enough that two automated GPMGs would be enough. But that tech is still pretty early days atm.
Things have been quiet in the news so I'm grateful for your continued focus and updates. Thank you.

Thanks! Let us know when a video is demonetized.
Thanks! Keep up the great information, Captain Sal !
What is wrong with the american media? Why is Yemen, Houthis and The Red Sea completely off limits to the American MSM viewers?? Absolutely zero coverage. Amazing!
Thanks Sal. Very informative update
Sal sounds so adorable when trying to translate Arabic. 🥰
Handy Size Bulk Carrier Master here, currently commanding a ship similar to the "Cyclades". The name of the vessel is better pronanced as "Ki - kla - des". That space behind the bridge is usually the battery room for GMDSS batteries, the bridge toilet, or the aft bulkhead for the staircase leading to the bridge. So there is a chance that the officer of the watch might survive this....
Thanks Capt! Please be safe out there and I appreciate the information.
@@wgowshippingI'm English & I go with _Si-kla-deez._ It's a Greek word so I'm probably getting it wrong too.
Little "fun" fact: the shaed drone, at least the older versions, have a German designed engine manufactured by china or Iran itself. Some of the motors were illegally exported from Germany to Iran. The motor manufacturer Limbach Flugmotoren GmbH is now a Chinese run company.
Good information. We Germans are good engineers and irresponsibly focused on business.
@@achimsteffens5357 For what it’s worth, you’re not late to the party. Not very late to it, at least. Europe now seems fully awake to the threats from China and Russia.
The Germans and the Chinese have always been natural allies. Just look up 'Sino-German Cooperation'
that motorcycle engine is an old designed that can be made by worker in Pakistan with their safety sandals
@achimsteffens5357 Germans ARE good engineers. The Germans aren't the problem. Humans have been taking technology and using it for unintended purposes as long as we have been on the planet.

Great reporting Sal...thank you.

Thanks Sal for giving us the updates with what is going on in the world of shipping !

What happened to the consortium that was supposed to be thwarting the Houthis ? The land based attacks on the Houthis obviously did nothing.

Thank you Sal
Good report.
Utube needs to get its act together if they don't agree but this current news but trucking channels are getting warnings too it's farcical your doing a great service
This whole situation is stupid.
Iran's funding and support of its terrorist proxies are causing all sort of problems. The Shah was a mean dictator but a least he didn't cause all these global problems.
The whole situation is more accurately called trying to stop a genocide in progress, at least from the 'Houthi' perspective. Continuing to send commercial ships into an active war zone is stupid and reckless.
The Houthis literally said when the genocide stops against the Palestinians they will stop.

Would love to hear you talk about the process which the Russians are using to transfer oil mid-ocean to the smaller tankers of the dark fleet...like where they are doing this, the ships equipment involved etc. Thanks for all your work.
This is not Sal replying. Ship to Ship transfer of oil cargo is common in most places where the sea does not get rough. So it is done offshore of many Countries. Very common and sometimes a shady practice in shipping. Sometimes it is done legally and sometimes done illegally. It is usually done off port limits and around Malta is one of the common areas.
Cyprus in the Med, North Korea in the Pacific, also anywhere near India.
I would like to know who is getting the money from the oilfields in Syria that American soldiers have been illegally occupying since 2014. As an American citizen I'd like to know why we are keeping troops in Syria, illegally occupying their oilfields and who is getting the money and oil. I dont really care what Russians are doing. They arent affecting me but that crap in the Middle East and on our southern border IS affecting me.

The Houthis have really impacted the ability of Egypt to gain revenue from the Suez Canal. So why doesn't Egypt do something. They're a stones throw away and have a large military. 😐
Ww3 much?
Maybe their military is designed to suppress their own people not project power? Or they're hoping the Saudis and other closer red sea states will do it for them?
At this point i have to think they are getting some kind of kick back from joining BRICS.
Saudi Arabia tried military action for many years and had to back off with a peace deal. So Egypt is not gonna due squat. I have literally been speaking of Houthi for sixteen years. Now they are in our laps. Peace all.

Can you keep us up to date on the Gaza aid mission pier & ships? Love your show.
Ukraine has been suppressing this class of drone with the equivalent of an armed trainer aircraft vectored in by radar. Although not effective against ballistic missiles, perhaps a lower cost would be effective against drones in this area.

Still, no one is mentioning Saudia Arabia, you the country were fighting a war with the Houthi and Yemen, which has a shoreline on both the Red Sea and the Persian Sea. The kingdom's combat aircraft are newly acquired Typhoons and upgraded Tornado IDS, F-15 Eagle and F-15E Strike Eagle fighter planes. Saudi Arabia has a further 80+ F-15 Eagles on order and an option to buy another 72 Typhoons. The navy's inventory includes 11 principal surface combatants, 65 patrol and coastal combatants, 7 mine warfare vessels, 8 amphibious craft, and 7 support and miscellaneous craft. Naval aviation forces have 19 helicopters (armed) serving in naval support. Let's not forget The system equipment comprises 17 General Electric AN/FPS-117 long-range 3D radars, 6 Northrop Grumman AN/TPS-43 tactical radars, and Raytheon Improved HAWK air defense missile systems.

btw, what percentage of the Russian and Chinese vessels have been diverted to South Africa instead of going thru Suez and Bab-al-Madab??
Since they fly the Seychelle's flag, maybe their navy will guard their flagged ships! If we escorted all American flagged ships, it would encourage ships to pay their fair share for naval support and flag with America.

*Thanks!* When 'One' is part of Corruption, why would they put effort into Stopping Attacks?
Multipolarity is here.
Not really. This is just yet another proxy war - or more an attempt at taunting the US into one...
It really looks like that drone was targeting the radars on the top of the ship. Various jamming and spoofing techniques were developed from the earliest days of radar. When the USN ships left the area, another navy channel was going on about how the Navy can make a drone or anti-ship missile go somewhere without a ship in it, so that it can't find anything when it turns on its final homing mechanisms. You'd think that the drones could just be flown manually from land, but the link is easily disrupted and the transmitter is easily triangulated (spoofing drone command signals to make it look like the transmitter is somewhere else generally doesn't work because of signal integrity and timing issues), so these drones are likely automated like the mystery attack that occurred a few years before this fight.
They have been consistently hitting the wrong targets since day 1. It is very likely that they are being directed to the area of other countries' ships, instead of to a safe area where they'd fail to acquire a target. The technology to disrupt these drones is WWII tech, the tech to protect all of the ships is all over the place, but 'someone' is attacking these ships with redirected hootie drones for their own purposes. Therefore, while the Hooties are taking the blame for these attacks... Which they very likely initiated (with tech that they would not naturally have without a state sponsor). Their source of weapons is the appropriate target.
Whomever is redirecting them onto ships that weren't part of the conflict to bring other countries into the fray is committing an inexcusable act. It's very transparently a deliberate attack on various nations' shipping by whomever is controlling these drones from the intended targets to others, when it's so much easier and less expensive to just crash the drone into the water. At least the Hooties called fair warning on their campaign. This other group doesn't have the honor, nor decency of even a terrorist. Liberty V2.0
if an air defence ship depletes its AA missiles in the VLS in that region, how long would it take to reload and redeploy?
"Filling in for the US Carriers not being available" Was one of the justifications for the UK CVF, unfortunately our wonderfully far sighted Conservative government in 2010 decided that we would only need one fleet support ship to acomany them, which is of course down for mainteance.
(Sals piece on the US Military Sealift command is a thousand times worse for the Royal Fleet Auxillary).
I wonder if there is someone who can recognize if there are patterns of which videos from youtubers are being demonetized (not including copyright claims)?
That'd be an interesting video to learn from.
Could modular close in weapons systems (CWIS) be deployed on ships entering the Red Sea and then taken off upon exit? If so, would it protect the commercial ships?
I know. It is funny that they can have armed guards but not small diameter close in weapons.
You could probably add a few TEU/FEU containers on the deck with an weapon or Israel laser blaster and power supply.

Biden withdrawing forces looking for Islamic votes, he don't care about shipping, Israel or victims from Theran sponsored attacks.
The US doesn't have a plan and nobody is scared anymore.
Are they? or? are they a dog! running with a rope around their neks tied to the tree? While we wait for the "world" to beg US for help?
The US make the same error since Vietnam, their politics believe that if the use their air power for a while will led the enemy to give up their aggression. Not even against small terrorist groups the air power solve the issue.
listen to yourself. your own sentence contradicts itself.
Yes, yes YES!!! Any idea who was Dali's captain and chief engineer?
Hay Sal, why can’t the US Navy supply ship equipped with phalanx, other weapons that can be placed on qualified ships before hostile area and removal leaving area. Is this a possibility or a good idea for private venture?
Why is Egypt silent, they are losing millions of dollars.

Politics. Plus they can’t afford a loss, which would be likely.
Egypt realised that they don't have any chance of success if US Navy is also helpless

America is not the only capable Navy in the area.
would it be possible to fit ships with something like a net launcher, to try to foul the drone and bring it done or off course, or even mount anti-drone drones that could be launched to hit an incoming drone like this?
Russian Refineries have been adding nets to disrupt drone attacks. Dyneema/Kevlar nets are very strong.

Private vessels apparently need electronic countermeasures given the portability and relative low cost of drones. A half megawatt of noise should be sufficient to scramble the circuits of the offending objects and negate control functions.
That's way overkill. GPS jamming and interfering with the control link is all it takes for most drones
How much are Liberia , Panama and Greece contributing to the safety of their flagged shipping?
It’s not called Flags of Convenience for nothing.
Greece deployed 3 frigates which if you consider they are a medium size military that’s a lot of commitment
See this whole thing would be so much safer if they used UAS that had remote ID broadcast modules. And we're registered and the pilots took an online TRUST certificate questionnaire. That's all it would take to stop the whole situation. -FAA
So why not have a drop off and pick up point for Phalanx / CWIS which can be plugged in to the ships power supply apart from that they seem fairly self contained. I am sure any ships engineer can weld in mounts and supply enough power to run them and that way at least through rental prices money can be obtained from various flagged vessels to cover ammunition if used crew to maintain said items and it would be cheaper than paying for ships to be running a floating protection racket. Just my 2 cents worth, but not as bright as Sal's shirts 😄

If it's just for launch, I wonder why they use a rocket instead of a sling launch. Rockets are expensive. I thought the rocket kicks back in during approach.
what you are suggesting is fixed launching pad which isn't ideal in military settings
Clarify this please, attack on Cyclades reported 3 ASBMs. But we see the Houthi video of the attack using a rocket-assisted UAV?
Seems a shame to lose ships to these guided paper darts. Do the folk who make the Phalanx ship protection system do a modular version that could be popped onto these bulkers for their trip along the Red Sea then off again once safely passed?
Even a modular version would take months to assemble then disassemble, plus it would violate a metric ton atreides and rules about commercial ships being armed based on where those ships port
most ports dont want armed ships entering.
that said, there are anti-drone measures that could be employed that dont use dangerous projectiles that could be used as attack weapons.
They make a land based system that is mounted on a military style tractor trailer. Used during the Afghanistan withdrawal, it's part of the C-RAM system and is called the Centurion LPWS (land phalanx weapons system). Not much larger (length and width) than a commercial container used for shipping and trucking, it may be possible to lift the entire trailer onto a ship using a dockside heavy lift crane. No idea how many were made but sounds like the design and technology already exists.
@@dependablepaul Backporting the trailer-borne version of CIWS may seem easier, but it might still be impossible (trailer weighs like 50k lbs iirc), and would be ineffective regardless. You couldn't drop it on top of the superstructure, so it would have blind spots that the Houthi would exploit. The correct solution would be to automate a smaller gun like a GPMG but those are still in prototype or limited production tmk.
The Phalanx is modular and self contained. So yes.
That cruise ship, could it have been a repositioning transit rather than a transit with passengers on board?
