"I wanna be a human being, not a human doing" That line has stayed with me for 25 years.

For a stutterer, he's very eloquent. He owned his problem, and made it his tool. Rest well Johnny boy.

This guy is amazing. Instead of feeling sorry for himself he turned his weakness into his best asset. When life give you lemons, make lemonade.

I bet Scatman thought that nobody would be talking about him after his death, but here we are nearly 20 years later and look at the thousands of people who support him still. Rest well mate.

This is the first time I cried over a celebrity death when I first heard the fact that he died.

This is one of the few times I'll ever thank UA-cam for recommending me a video I actually enjoyed watching

Wow, he was dealt bad cards but managed to get a royal flush with them.

His flame was brief, but man did it burn as bright as a thousand suns. RIP Scatman

Wow, if it wasn't for this video I would still be thinking he was using some sort of sound effect machine to make his voice sing or gibberishing that fast, it was always his own natural skill that make it sound that fast, RIP Scatman John.

I feel like his songs are seen as jokes now but they have amazing messages in them, it’s just great song writing

His bullies became losers in life and achieved nothing, but Scatman, he lived, and boy did he live, he shined so much, God had to take him away from us because he blinded everything with good.

I was 15 when John was at the height of his fame. I had a severe stammer at the time and when he said, you can do whatever you want, don't let your speech hold you back, well that was a revelation to me. Fast forward and I own a company with 36 staff, am married and my speech is as fine as I need it to be. Who cares what others think. Thank you John and RIP my friend.

I had a stuttering problem when I was a child and through my teenage years. The bullying was unbearable. Even a high school teacher took part in making fun of my stuttering. It was crushing. I was lucky enough, the school district, at the request of my parents, got me into speech therapy classes. It took a couple of years but the stuttering issue got SO much better. Once in a while, I still stutter, but it is not often and it is somewhat minimal.

I seriously can't listen to Scatman without tearing up a little. In a world of manufactured music and manufactured people, he truly was a real human being, and a real hero. May he scat on in Scatman's World forever more.
