I would recommend using a transformer with less amps and more voltage. Like a neon light transformer or a HV tesla coil transformer.. a microwave oven transformer is very dangourus and also could start fires. So look for something that's high voltage and low amps... Anything above 5 or 6 kv should do just remember the higher the voltage the higher the risk is for files and burns... GL
Yes or you can use a starter condenser instead of a toggle on switch, that is what is normally used in these kinds of lamps where you will see the bulb kinda flicker as it comes on thats the starter condenser kick starting the lamp....

So I have to “jump” the light every time I turn the zapper on?
