Three suggestions, 1. Run the timber through a table saw to taper the edges, this would allow the mould to come out clean, a 5 deg angle would be fine. 2. Run a bead of silicon round the tops of your mould to form a rounded finish on the concrete. 3. Oil the mould before use. Good video, thanks.
Just a suggestion: Put a couple of handles on the top of it (maybe 4 of them), so it will ve much more easy to lift that wooden frame. Anyway, thanks for the video, it is a very good idea to share.

True I hate these "modern" UA-camrs who think they have to feature their headshots and blare loud obnoxious music just to be famous while talking about bullshit ideas and stupid videos. Well done sir.
You will get better results if you let the concrete setup a bit longer, and use a curb tool on the edges prior to removing the form. Another helpful tip for the DIYer's, rinse the forms and spray the insides with cheap cooking spray, this will allow the form to slide off easier.
Just brilliant! You can custom make a template to your liking and your particular project area. Fantastic! And adding sand to the cement to make it more pliable is even better. Now, you can propably spray vegetable oil to your template to make it easier to remove.
To make the frame easier to pull free, you could use an enamel/glossy paint on the wood and give it a quick spray with water after each section so nothing sticks.
As you go with it, you'll be better. Another idea is after an hour (depending on how fast the concrete you use dries) or so, wash the concrete gently with a hose, it will give you a grain finish. You do great!
I'm very proud to be brasilian, when I saw someone in the other side of the world using a "Votorantin" cimento, made in Brazil, and dooing a awensome job like this!
Hello Robert my friend. I like how u did this man. Its brilliant to see ppl beginning ti di it themselves again.. Too many people pay others ti do these j9bs and they are very expensive too bro. Big up to you from IRELAND 🇮🇪 man. RESPECT!!!
Awesome stuff that will last for years and years. I'm doing this with my driveways so I'll be using 2x4s for framing. Thank you for sharing your project
Great it's exactly what I was thinking of making for my front garden. Thank you for sharing. I also wondered about the mix ratio for the best, now I know. Well done! It will probably take me a lot longer to do(I'm 72) but I will have a go anyway. I do have a cement mixer - a little treat for myself.. ;) so that should help a lot.
Congrats to you! Makes me want to try too! Post a picture when your done...:-) All I need is a cement mixer and my strong son to lift the bags, then help dumping it....;-)
I have never done this but just from watching the results, what I would suggest is to make your form square, then you can change the orientation 4 times and vary the pattern more as the repeating pattern is a bit obvious in places, other than that, it looks amazing :D
A very "hands on" video, shows every thing you need to know. Thanx for that one, it inspires me for a pathway in my garden i was looking for a solution for a lomg time (because of various different issues). A good one, more of that., please. Good luck with your channel and best regards from Berlin, Germany
Slow and steady wins the race. Enjoy your summer and in the fall, enjoy your beautiful new patio. Great video. Keep the moisture at a minimum and pack the crap out of it. Now enjoy all the money you saved on buying pavers which is stupid expensive. More cement is better in harsh climates and the thicker the better only if you can afford it. If you can do it yourself, go for it and save yourself a small fortune. It's only your time, and the packing can be a bit physical. In the end your left with the pride of your own creation. It's Covid time. Time to Create!
This is an excellent idea. If I were you, I would use at least two or three models of the design to keep the cement dry a little bit before taking the wood out. I would put oil on the sides of the wood for an easy out. I would lay plastic on the ground before cement pouring. Also, I would use some pieces of steel to make it stronger. Thanks for sharing.
Fantástica idea!! Mi esposo y yo estábamos a un minuto de ordenar en Amazon unos moldes de plástico que la verdad no nos convencían. Su idea nos llegó de maravilla. Gracias
Nice work man, I was looking to buy that plastic paver from Amazon, but this idea man, it’s perfect bigger and better, I am definitely making same model for my backyard. Thank you.
Great idea, one suggestion would be: The commercial pavers, has actually 2 layer, one is more rough full of coarse broken pebbles can be calcite or even quartz what give them a lot of strength, but this layer does not look so great, so they have a finish layer that is very thin like just 1/4 inch at most, made if fine sand and maybe stamped with a fake stone texture, you should try to add this second layer made with finer aggregates and different cement, maybe a pre mix stucco would be a good beginning.
This looks great. Consider putting a couple handles at the top of your form to make removal easier as you would be able to lift it straight up and out.great work
I bought a plastic form like that one that uses one 80 lb. bag of concrete mix for a 3’x3’ block that looks like the one you made. I got it at the lumber yard.
I am going to try this out it’s a great idea but I think adding a couple of handles to help wiggle the framework out will help and I’ll add some fibres to the mix to strengthen it to compensate for the slabs not being vibrated. Maybe you mentioned this but I watched with no sound.
What if your using a mold like that, but don't ever want grass growing through spaces in pattern, could I just put a thin layer of cement on the ground first?
Hi, I like what you have done. Having watched a few of the video's like yours. For what it's worth. I would suggest making a frame that is larger than your pattern. Then I would pour the concrete in the frame first and use your pattern as an imprint into the concrete. 2 fold result is that it has more meat on the bottom to hold all the pavers together and the added benefit of less work in finishing it. Just a suggestion. Like your results as well. Thumbs up !

I love how real this is. No douchebag music, not highly produced...it's slow and not too much talking! Just when he needs to. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! 🙂
That's only your opinion you sound very -
No douchebag music 😂😂 I totally agree.

YES! It’s enough with the douchebag “music” in these videos. This guy knows what’s what!

Thanks for the tips! 👍
To add onto this comment you could use some rounded metal handles on all 4 sides of the mould to help you lift it out, good video.
Just a suggestion: Put a couple of handles on the top of it (maybe 4 of them), so it will ve much more easy to lift that wooden frame. Anyway, thanks for the video, it is a very good idea to share.

If you spray the form with used motor oil before you pour the concrete it helps the form release and not pull the concrete up.

Thank you for your wonderful video! Is this strong enough to drive on? Also, will you be filling in the grooves left by the wood?

If you put plastic sheet underneath it stops weeds and helps stop cracking.
And use a small brush for edges dipping in a cement mix...
