      When you were a girl, you were a lesbian. Now that you're a guy, I bet you're gay the other way, attracted to guys instead. What does that say about you? Like... did you ever even think about why that is, or is that just something beyond your comprehension? You seem intelligent enough, but it's almost like you've blinded yourself to some facts about it here.
      The truth is, it's because when you were a girl, you didn't see yourself as one. You wanted that feminity but not for yourself, so you found it appealing in others and became attracted to it. As for the masculinity, you thought you were pretty much a guy anyway yourself, so you didn't find it appealing at all...
      ...but now that you've gone through the transition and you see yourself as a guy, you realise that what you thought being a man was, wasn't even the half of it. Now that you're a man, you realise the full extent of masculinity that even when you strive for, you can never fully reach. It is something you want, but it is out of your reach forevermore.
      Nor, by the way, do you even feel any strong particular drive towards it anymore, now that you're a man...
      ... but the fact that it's still something that makss one a "man" and yet is out of reach for yourself, now causes you to become attracted to it. That's what's happened

    • @marioluigi9599
      @marioluigi9599 2 роки тому

      So overall, you've grown in your understanding of masculinity, which caused a change in your orientation (because unlike what Lady Gaga said, you're not even born with an orientation and it's not even set in stone). However... the other truth is, now in fact you'll always be attracted to masculinity, because there's no way you can even become that and I know this is something you're starting to realise within yourself.
      You see, you lack the male instinct that men have, which you don't. So now unfortunately you're stuck in between, somewhere in limbo, and so you start hating on people like JK Rowling who isn't even transphobic at all, but who just says that male insticts are different from female insticts. Both can change, both can warp, but neither can fully become the other, no matter how much HRT you inject.
      So you're left now with something inadequate (the idea that you're wanting to become a father as you're growing older, but having no drive or comprehension of what that is meant to be and how you're even meant to go about achieving it), and of course a constant, nagging gay attraction...

    As a Gen-X transwoman, I'm excited for how overall great the new generation has it.
    It was fast, too. I had a mental breakdown dealing with all the bs while transitioning. Even having to validate and explain myself to healthcare providers. I partially detransitioned and turned into a hermit for five years. When I came out of that, it was a whole new world. 90% of the stressors I had before that...are just gone.
    Being angry at that makes no sense. The whole "I had it rough so you have to have it rough" mentality (regarding basically anything) is toxic. We work to make a better next generation, that us how it works.
    I did a lot of work to change minds and educate. It broke me; but I am so happy to see this largely better future. I wish I had this when I was younger. It is such a joy transitioning now.

I'm not mad at that dynamic at all. I don't want to be scared to exist and be seen, but I'm willing to be if I can make it out the other side and have paved the way for others later.

    Say it with me folks, generational conflict serves no one but those holding us down! If you're millenial and feel bitter towards the younger generation for "having it easy" realise that just isn't true. If anything it's more volatile now than is has for the past 10 years. We gotta stay together on this 🤝

      I'm a millennial and I'm jealous of and happy for younger generations, not bitter. They absolutely have it easier, meaning they face less and/or smaller barriers and that's how it should be. Less/smaller barriers doesn't mean their experience isn't difficult. I faced the barrier of not knowing my gender existed until my mid 30s. I didn't face the barrier of inaccessible gender affirmation surgery. It's still flipping difficult to access and yet easier than past generations whos options were do it yourself or someone under the table who may actually want you not alive.
      Yes, we have to stay together. It seems that Ty is encouraging division instead of togetherness.

    • @morrisnakes
      @morrisnakes 2 роки тому +3

      It's more volatile because there is so much attention on us right now, and that is part of why some people my age get so angry about what younger generations are doing, because once upon a time we could live in peace with anyone but intimate partners blissfully unaware of our existence. Unlike being in the closet gay, being transgender stealth is generally a pleasant experience for my generation because it means we pass. It would calm down a lot if there wasn't quite so much trans exposure, or in a few decades when people really start getting used to it. You wouldn't believe how many of these anti-trans people legitimately think transgender people didn't even exist until 10 years ago because they didn't happen to hear about it before then. I'm not saying my generation's feelings are the "correct ones" or anything, and I understand why some trans people want exposure, but try to understand why some of us don't too.

    • @allison257
      @allison257 Рік тому +5

      Exactly! I was a kid in the 90s but I vaguely remember how society treated gay people for the most part and I feel like I am reliving it as an adult but with the trans community, they’re just trying to exist and be comfortable in their own skin and the amount of hatred to the point of violence towards them is so disturbing. I can’t say that I know what it’s like for them because I am a cis pansexual woman, but it did take me a long time to come to terms with my sexuality because of the environment I grew up in.

    I tell my family that gender dysphoria as a gender fluid person is confusing and frustrating for me too. I'm learning about myself and my gender fluidity, this means I don't have all the answers. They think my gender fluidity comes from my media exposure and new friend. In reality I have terms to express something I have felt for a long time. I am in a very explorative stage. Exploring does not mean that my feelings and experiences are just a phase or invalid. I have terms for what I feel and now I'm exploring how they apply for me. I guess being pansexual does not help with my family's confusion. They think in terms of straight or queer. Thank you for making these. It helps me get over my bitterness. We are each learning. Opening up to new possibilities is not the easiest thing for most people. When we challenge ourselves fear can make people nady and bring up dysfunction. It can be so tricky to navigate setting boundaries. Thank you for bringing us together with your videos.

I know I cannot point this at the younger people, seeing them come out and be themselves earlier and earlier is amazing, but It can still hurt to see what you missed. I get that it hurts. I sure feel hurt and frustrated sometimes. But I would never think to project my pain onto people who never caused it, who are actually dealing with similar shit, if maybe in a different way. I am 40 now and even though I have been a part of the community for almost 20 years, I never stumbled upon the markers I identify with (aromantic/asexual) until about 3 years ago. I just identified as generally "queer" for the longest time, because I had no word to express my experience. Sure, it hurts to think about how that affected me over the years, but damn, the only thing I wish for is that other people will not have to live through that. Do I feel envious sometimes? Honestly, yes. But I don't begrudge people finding/exploring their identities more easily, especially in the face of what it is still like to be a young queer person in this world.

      I get the pain and borderline jealousy. I feel like I've lost so many years trying to force myself into a set of gender rules that never fit, only ever playing a character. That being said when I fight for representation and equality I want it to be easier for the next generation I don't want to have to see others suffer the way I have. I want it to be easier in every facet that I struggle with, mental health, disability, sexuality and gender. If my pain and hard lessons can insure that less or no kids (god I wish) had to go through my journey my trauma would feel almost worth it. Sometimes it's hard to take a step back and see the bigger picture tho just because they don't struggle in the same way I had to doesn't mean there still isn't hurdles. There is so much hurt happening to all trans people to suggest that this is the easy version is simply misleading. Maybe easier is someways but coming out and being open is a double edged sword

    4:04 Slight inaccuracy, but the calculator tells you 1,7m is 5.5ft, not 5ft 5in. So average male height actually is between 5ft 6in and 5ft 7in. That number doesn't mean much though, as it doesn't specify what place's average it is, while it should because that changes country to country

    Damn Im a boomer transwoman. And I dont get the mentality of my generation and millenials that we had had it harder than the current generation its a complete crock of crap. From what I am seeing of its way harder to be in transition now that it was in the 80/90s (especially in UK aka TERF island at moment). I didnt have a 2 year or more waiting list just to get seen be specialist for a start. Of course we had some different issues to deal with and yes it was hard at times, but the crap I see the newer generations having to deal with is way worse that I dealt with.

    3:28 okay so something like that but more uhm... wholesome ig? happened to me, I was trying to find something on the bathroom shelves and couldn't so I asked my mom where it was and when she said it was there I looked again and didn't find, so I went to talk and lo and behold she found it super fast - AND IT WAS ON THE DAMNED SHELVES!!!! so then she ends the interaction with "it's cause your brain is male" and I was confused about the odd validation 😭 (for reference my mom is super accepting, ig she's just a bit too old school but nothing harmful)

    I feel like someone should inform Buck Angel that reconstructive breast implants are available to women who have had mastectomies as the result of breast cancer.
    I don't see why it wouldn't be possible for someone detransitioning to get their breasts back to their former size outside of the cost, though the number of people who would require it as the result of gender confirmation procedures would be vanishingly small, especially taking into account those who transition young and have access to puberty blockers and hormone treatment who may not develop those breasts in the first place, as well as the fact that femininity is not correlated with the size and functionality of someone's breasts.

    The easier/ harder conversation is often counterproductive. Nothing would make me happier if the trans* kids in gen alpha were spared hardships of previous generations. I hope some future generation gets to look at being trans/ enby without having to view it through a lens of hardship, discrimination, and inequity. As an older millennial, there are certain things that generally improved for gen z from when I was a kid, but also there are things that seem to be much harder in general. In the end, however, we experience it all individually (despite the existence of community), not 'in general', and no one's hardships diminish because someone else's were hypothetically worse.

After realising a lot about myself (I'm bi, thought a bit about it and decided I was still a dude however), I stopped talking to them. I'm gradually getting better at correctly gendering people, but sometimes it still messes with my head a bit. Maybe one day I'll finally fully deprogram myself from all the awful shit I thought growing up. Have a nice day, lad.
