Here, here...we loved Rod in his city days...we even went to some Fulham games when he came back from the states..oh rodney rodney, rodney rodney rodney rodney rodney Marsh...
Sir Alf Ramsey : "OK Marsh this is your last chance. If you don't try in the first 45 minutes I am going to pull you off at half time" Rodney Marsh " Wow we only get an orange and a cup of tea at Man City"
Thanks for that, Took this from a VHS Tape of shows hosted by Mancurian Tony Wilson where he chatted to Best and Marsh. They discussed their playing days, their days at Fulham and then the show discussed goalkeepers (Pat Jennings and Banks) and then finished up discussing the great Leeds team of the 70's and Liverpools 7-1 demolition of Spurs
Sure did, that little jink (if that is the right word), takes a special player to do that and Rodney Marsh was one of those players. Check out my clip of Rodney playing with Best for Fulham! Thanks for the comment
When there was a look back over Moore's career, he said he could hardly bear to hear his bellowing commentary! We were very lucky to have two magicians in the no 10 shirt. The likes of Byrne, Wegerle and Stainrod only occasionally touched the heights of Marsh and Bowles.
@Genius don`t wanna be a killjoy Rodney Marsh and Stan Bowles in the same team good to watch but how many did QPR concede?maybe that`s why they never got over the finishing line(Leeds)
What a player! If Ronaldo is worth £70m, what would the likes of Marsh, Best, Moore, Currie, Marinello, Cooke, Bell, Greaves, Bowles, Franny Lee, Osgood, etc., be worth today? Any of them would stroll in to any of the top 6 teams in England, Italy or Spain! Ahh, the 70's. Come back, all is forgiven! (Even the flares!)
The 70s 80s and maybe parts of the 90s were the end of great british football...too many big contracts started being given to prima donnas at the expense of great TEAM play..then the fucking premiership...the END...its 100% all about money now..its disgusting..you have one of the greats..liverpool saying 'we dont need fans anymore' as they make a fortune from tv rights...plus the 'champions league'..it was once 1 team from every league in europe..the 'chamoions' of theyre own country...now its a league...and any team can find a way in and win it...even if they arent champions of theyre respective country...a sick money making joke....i dont even watch anymore...i simply can not bear it...the money players are payed is FUCKING OBSCENE....managers spending 100s of millions...vile....look at the F.A cup...once the flagship of british football...n event we ALL watched for the whole day..no matter what teams played...it was a world event and a huge family event all over england....now its forgotten...shankly..kendall..clough..paisley..busby...they must be spinning in theyre graves..never mind turning....these bygone days...were indeed..TRUE football days..P.S...very sorry for my swearing..but it angers me so much...that the game i ADORED as a child..into a boy..then a man...has been taken from me and all working class people...and is owned by billionaires....disGUSTING
Hi Pete totally agree with all you say, those days in late 70s/ 80s were great times and being a United fan with the great Liverpool teams getting to the FA Cup was a big event remember the 1977 game, both Greenhoff brothers, Steve Coppell, Stewart Houston etc and getting one over Liverpool that time was HUGE. Remember in 1979 when United brought it back to 2-2 and everyone thought they would win it in extra time until Alan Sunderland popped up at the far post to win it for Arsenal. Great FA final days nowadays it is seen a a blooding event to give squad and younger players a run out. Money is sickening sure in news recently an senior Arsenal player happy to see out his 350,000 a week contract or a United player who went out on loan and United paid bulk of his wages. Real fans are turning away from the Premiership and supporting local smaller clubs. Money has destroyed it ... even lower leagues players are being hurt, short term contracts etc
@@lyndonjones2218 it just annoys the life out of me how its not a working class game anymore...you have liverpool manager klopp slagging every other manager a few years back about spending so much money...an hes spent MORE than anyone now...terrible..👍
@@lyndonjones2218 forgot to add lyndon, who will ever forget that final..?..united bring it back level..only for sunderland to nip in and score the winner...spurs and coventry in 87..the f.a cup was something else..now its nothing...crazy...i stopped going to watch everton in 1987..theyd just clinched the title...and the prices rose to £12 or something...and that was it...i just never went again...this is 2ish years after being able to go to..say highbury to watch everton v arsenal...we had a coach firm local...and the coach + ticket was £7.!!!...to go to united was £4..!!...it was about the fans then...now...they mean NOTHING...sickening...take care buddy 👊
A talented player and a wonderful entertainer.....QPR in those days was fun ....with Marsh,Allen & Lazarus
Nobody else but Rodney would be cheeky enough to do that trick!! Glad you enjoyed!!
utter class, what more to be said
Here, here...we loved Rod in his city days...we even went to some Fulham games when he came back from the states..oh rodney rodney, rodney rodney rodney rodney rodney Marsh...
That third goal. He was taking the wee out of those defenders. A good goal !
Dynamite player for the Rowdies of Tampa Bay! These goals are in typical Rodney Marsh fashion. The Rodney Marsh goals were always the best goals.
simply the greatest...oh Rodney Rodney...
I agree Tony Currie was very under rated, he could bend a ball!!
We don't get players like that now. Back then the flair players didn't earn much but they enjoyed themselves and entertained us.

The best hat trick of all time.
Played with a smile of his face or should I say a cheeky grin, glad you enjoyed the clip!!
Wow never knew Shankly tried to sign him what a strikeforce that would have been Marsh,Keegan, and Toshack
fantastic!
QPR should’ve signed him for 10 years contract.
What season was this game, anyone ? My guess is 70-71 ? Awesome skill from Rodney.
Brian Moore's commentary wasn't exactly understated either ! lol
Not a hat-trick a perfect hat-trick. left foot, right foot and head. The first apparently captured on British TV
fantastic player. sadly he came a little late when creative football started to be sacrificed for quantity football.
He did naturally those days what players these days are taught to do unless they are Ronaldinio Ronaldo.or Messi
Birmingham goalkeeper was ex R's Mike Kelly.

Did you bring your bucket and spade to Loftus road for half time sand castle competition???? ;-)
Then he buggered up Man City's title bid. Hero!
The final score was 5-2. Rangers' other scorers were Andy McCullough and Terry Venables!
The White Pele
Pele was the Black Rodney Marsh!
Coach Trip!..
Was Trevor Francis on Birmingham city at this time?
ROD -NEEEEEEE
proud of him...lol
Good player but George Best the best player ever!!
@Genius don`t wanna be a killjoy Rodney Marsh and Stan Bowles in the same team good to watch but how many did QPR concede?maybe that`s why they never got over the finishing line(Leeds)
They never played in the same team!
