Love you George, what a player!!!...........and I'm a Liverpool supporter!!
RIP mate. You were one of the best.
George, Was simply the Best. Greatest footballer then and if he was alive and playing would be now
I’ve of course heard & seen so much about Best but Rodney Marsh Damn! He’s really classy on the ball & fun to watch
Fantastic stuff. I was at this game and still have the programme. I can't believe it was so long ago. Later that season I went into the bar on Plymouth station while waiting for the train back up to London. I couldn't believe my eyes when I realised that George Best, Rodney Marsh, Bobby Moore etc were all in there. I managed to get George Best's and Bobby Moore's autographs and still have them. Two legends of the game and both great heroes of mine.
Amazing!!!
Great.
Remember viewing this game on the Big Match at the time it was televised. The most memorable point, ironically, wasn't the goals, but Bestie refusing to pass the ball to Marsh, a truly priceless English footballing moment! Today's bunch of pampered, self-obsessed wannabees couldn't even dream of getting anywhere close to these two footballing geniuses!
My problem with Marsh (a decent player on his day)is that when he was signed along with George by Fulham. He seemed to imagine that he somehow had equal billing with George. Whereas in fact he wasn't fit to lace his boots !
Same, never forget it 👏🏻
What a Joy to watch again Bestie and Marsh show i will never forget these 2 great players & George thank you for those wonderful years its the football that was the winner in you RIP Irish wizard from a avid Fulham Fan ...
I had forgotten just how good Rodney Marsh was. You never forget just how good George Best was
Mark Gardner ....GREAT Footballer....he could beat any defender.....pity he couldn't beat the booze......sad..
Gosh! Best and Marsh had some fun that day!
thank you, lovely to watch, dont think we will ever see the likes of best and marsh again, sheer quality
Great childhood memories. It was pure entertainment. Fulham was the perfect Club for them at that time. A warm crowd full of good, often self-deprecating humour and eccentric, loveable characters. Never going down but not going up either. Maybe a good Cup run (but never a trophy!). Lovely, picturesque old stadium by the River Thames. An old cockney music hall comedian as Chairman. Wonderful, romantic and loads of fun.
Crowd applause at the end …
I was at this match as an 8 year old kid. Back then I thought that supporting Fulham was always going to be like this.
😀
Marsh and Best unreal talent between them - and having fun
You can't tell these internet kids these days how good George Best was. It's all Ronaldo this, Messi that.... but not only was there Best and Marsh, there was Stan Bowles, Alan Hudson, Duncan McKenzie, Peter Barnes, Colin Bell, Alan Currie, Eddie Gray, Charlie George, Lou Macari, Malcolm McDonald, Gerry Francis, Steve Coppell, Mick Channon... and too many other to name .Magicians each and every one and for each one of those, there was a Norman Hunter, a Chopper Harris, Willie Young or a Tommy Smith all there to cut them down or a Banks, Bonetti, Shilton, Clemence, Parkes, Corrigan, Jennings or McFaul. But you can't tell the kids that nowadays...
Shane Wright Amen to that..👍
Tony Currie! Yes, I agree with you. Amazing players all.
5 ballon d'ors is all i'm saying
Shane Wright There's a reason internet kids ( as you call them) go on & on about Messi & Ronaldo. Because they're brilliant & have blown the landscape of European football apart that in my opinion barring Di Stefano 1950s domination of five European Cup wins, no other players have done in Europe.
Ronaldo-FIVE Champions League wins. Five Ballon d'Or's win's. Over 700 goals scored. The highest Champions League goalscorer in its history to date. A Euro win with Portugal. . Not to mention multiple domestic title wins. All done at a high level since 2008
Messi-Four Champions League win's. SIX Ballon d'Or's wins. Over 600 goals scored. Multiple domestic title wins. All done at a high level since 2009.
None of the players you listed, get anywhere near all of that.
The reason internet kids go on and on about whatever enwest shiny object there is is because they, in the internet, they have an echo chamber that offers them cheap affirmation, they lack critical perspective and can do the intellectually lazy thing of X is either the best or worst ever at any given thing. They mask their ignorance with conformity.
Damn, there was some football played that day.
+James George Back when footballs were actually white and boots were black.
I was there that Saturday Afternoon on 25th September. My greatest football experience ever.
thanks for sharing that with us
Really brought me back, brilliant, thanks for posting
Was a bit of a freak show. Marsh and Best didn't give a shit. They were taking the piss.
It all ended in tears for them soon after this game.
What a treat to watch! Thanks for posting.
16 year old Hereford Substitute: Kevin Sheedy of Everton fame...!
That's a worthwhile mention. I was surprised to see him play in that game.
Shame the other Hereford legend wasn't in goal that day. I refer to the one and only David Icke !!!! Obviously Best and Marsh are lizards as no humans can play like that ( David Icke's post match assessment!!)
Yes I noticed that yet he went to Liverpool and then Everton.
"i didn't beat nine players, I beat three of them three times" ... brilliant!
I still remember that game !! When I saw it on the tele I was amazed by the skills of those two guys!! At that time only one game of English football was televised in Greece at that time every Saturday (not live) and was a must see for me !!!
Glad you enjoyed and Happy New Year to Ya!! You are probably like me recalling the days of great entertaining footballers like Marsh, Best and Tony Currie!! My all time fav player when I was younger was Steve Coppell, great winger!
Will Hay. Steve Coppell was among my favorites back then, Him and Gordon Hill ,Lou Macari
When it comes to football you don't hear the word "Hereford" anymore.
But you will always hear the words "George Best'
classic display of talent from legends
proper footie stars
Marsh such a clever elegant player.
Best enjoying his football.
One of the greatest games ever
Two of the greatest ever players produced in Britain
Frankly and 30 and with the searing pace gone Best was really just another skillful player at the time but always lovely to see him. Thanks.
great German squad. Moore and Best together what a squad!
Loved George legend he was
George best is a legend. For this that he's most famous british player here in Brazil
He was Irish
Northern Ireland is part of United kingdom
@@humbertochaves3813 but it’s not in Britain. It’s on the island of Ireland.
@@corkboy4523 eh the last time I checked Northern Ireland is a part of the United Kingdom
Ok potato boy ?
@@09weenic but it’s not in Britain is it? OK dickhead?
nice video of the world,s greatest and BEST.
Marsh hell of a player.
My cousin was in the Fulham squad during this time. Not sure he ever made the first team, but we watched Best & Marsh training with him a few times..
Great stuff
Yes it is!! It is from a show in the 1980's. A 3 or 4 part show with George and Rodney talking about soccer in the 70's/ 80's
Glad you liked it!
This is legendary
Wow against my home town hereford
great clip, cheers.
The pace is amazing.
Alan slough first Fulham goalscorer no longer with us , great player .
Great Vid!
after this game too this day i was a Fulham fan
My HUFC and my idle Georgey boi xxx
Not being funny, but Hereford also had some silky skills on show... terrific stuff all over the pitch - this is simply one of the those games that everyone knows about, how wonderful
Brilliant!! First vid I've found of my dad on UA-cam!
Sam Evanson He was a.great player. Tenacious, hard working and not lacking in skill either. Always popular with the fans. One of my Fulham favourites in the 70’s.
I watched your Dad play at The Cottage as a 9 year old kid. Happy memories!
Used to see him play for Oxford in the early 70s Classy player.
Been going to Fulham since 1966 seen some players slagged off your dad wasn't one of them , , bet he dines off this 👍 clip lol
great video. would be good to see some more fulham clips if you have any
what a match, not the crap we are served up today.
tavy@ best and marsh show was viewed on bbc 1 in febuary 1988. It lasted about 4 weeks. Then dont know what happend then. But i have a good idea? lol!!!!
Mitro’s on fire your defence is terrified nananananana
3:12 The forward would be sent off for that challenge these days!
Also its nice to see players not rolling around on the floor when they are tackled.
Kevin Sheedy coming on as an unknown Hereford sub. Went on to be the greatest dead ball specialist the English top flight ever saw.
He fucking was
Gridball 1955 ....Yeah a legend at EVERTON FC....thanks Sheeds...💙
When football was played with a smile on the face
Allan Sedgwick ....only when your winning..
wow good team
1:20 minutes: This was Sept. 1976, a greatly enhanced and regenerated Fulham team for the time being.
2:26 minutes: This is a great goal.
If Social Media existed in the 70s Marshy would have gotten 100 caps for England.
Real football played with proper footballs. Pass back to keepers and an an off-side rule that allowed the of-side trap to be sprung. Now all we have is "bagatelle football played with balloons"
Best of British.
seen them both plus currie Hudson.Worthington Charlie George can you imagine what they'd be on weekly today tours 300 k( average) best 600 k worth it
Bowles also
Classic stuff........back in the day when players moved clubs because they wanted to, not because of the pay packet.
It's always been about the pay packet.
They didn’t move when they wanted to, the moved when the club wanted them to move, freedom of contract didn’t happen until after the “Bosman Ruling” in 1995 (ECJ).
Thanks for the feedback, Don't think I have any more Fulham clips sorry bout that.
Happy New Year to You!
Happy new year soon. As always nostalgia. Fotball have progressively changed I don't know if it's for the better or worse but VAR needs to be taken out lol
Sheedy coming on for his boyhood club. He'd go on to get two league titles and a cup winner's cup in Europe.
@thirlbeyrd ... I remember it was sometime in the early 90s
A little sideshow here to the main players in that Phil Burrows was an excellent left back. IIRC he came through Man Utd youth with George Best but their careers diverged. I watched him play for Plymouth in the 1970s. Yet here they are again and Burrows gets the better of Best a few times.
@dcanmore I see! thanks!
Wow, real football played back then, no diving and rolling around like they do today. Hard to watch football these days,to many stoppages from diving, at least in regards to men. The women still play and it’s enjoyable to watch
Thanks for the comment, keep an eye out for any more I manage to convert from my VHS collection.
Hi Will
I have been to your grave at Streatham Cemetary in South West London...
Is that Tony Wilson of Factory Records at the beginning? Weird.
MAgic
Kevin Sheedy the Irish and Everton legend comes on as sub
Although he played for Ireland, Sheedy was actually a Hereford lad. There were some good players in that Hereford team, as well as Sheedy there was Terry Paine, Dudley Tyler and lower division goal-machine legend Dixie McNeil.
good old days before money killed it
@supahdupahguy81
Yeah I might be a kid but the answer from the previous person "early 90s" was JUST enough for me
thanks for the unsought statement Mr elder
There are footballers and there’s George Best ......
For a team that had Bobby Moore,George Best and Rodney Marsh in Fulham struggled in this season.
And Swindon beat them 4-0 in the cup
@@pikusmaximus65395-0 after a replay.
Thanks for the comment
The two maestros together two of the ALL time greats I love them two players But Marsh not a regular England player? a Great talent wasted, we had our fair share of great players we are up there with the best of them,
Entertainment, no diving, that'll never catch on.
Best clearly on the decline, and even so a class act.
Kevin Sheedy on the bench for Hereford
Terry Paine was in his seventies by then. Couldn't catch me all afternoon.
george best ....you must be a ghost...
@@frankhornby6873 Keep it to yourself son.
@supahdupahguy81
Oh those were the exact questions i was about to put up on UA-cam, thanks for saving my time grandpa
From next time i would have some bit smarter ones for the elderly like you who, til the very moments they die, love to spit out their meager knowledge voluntarily for young lads!
Just look how much space they are alloowed to play in...play ground stuff
Is that Tony Wilson interviewing?
I think so.
Yes
There's only one Brian Moore
we ripped the piss out of hereford.lmao..FTID!!
Isn't is back pass to the keeper around 6:10? Or pls someone tell me when it became a foul
thirlbeyrd- I can´t remember exactly, but I think around 1990. Goalies had a difficult time adjusting to it initially, but it definitely improved the game. The back pass was responsible for an awful lot of cynical timewasting prior to the introduction of the rule, especially when a team was leading, with 10 minutes left to run down on the clock.
G M they brought the new back pass rule into the rules of the game in August ‘92 in line for the start of the Premier League.
AKA MORCHILADZE brought me here
I’m a wolves fan, and went to a game at Molinaux, wolves v Fulham. Playing for Fulham were George, Rodney and Bobby Moore. What a privilege to see these great players together. Even the wolves crowed were applauding them. Bobby Moore one of England’s greatest players, George Best one of the worlds greatest players, and Rodney Marsh one of the most underrated players england have produced.
Real football...real men...coolpost!
Kevin sheedy came on
Rooney could learn so much watching these two.
Although Rooney will never have the talent.
He's a million miles better than Marsh. Are you mental? The man was a failure at City. The only club he played for that challenged for a top division title. He actually lost them the league. Best a true great.
Hahaha
toure I meant
Best was was what it said on the can..............
Chris Evans ....of Guinness?...
And nowadays people get crazy because Richarlison juggled a bit, or Antony made a useless trick. Come on, folks. It's a game, it's about having fun.
This is fucking delicious.
This was a circus with Marsh and Best at the end of their careers. They were not committed enough and used these games as a kick about just for a laugh. They were not bothered about Fulham and it all went tits up soon after this farcical match.
Mr sheedy
Marsh rather eclipsed Best in this game, I thought.
