This was a TV programme meant to entertain the normal "Football Supporter", the guy who pays his hard earned money at the turnstile week in and week out. It featured three of the footballing "greats" and they were so entertaining. "Big Jack" was always a bit of a rebel, George Best was possibly one of the greatest players of that generation and Rodney Marsh had a fantastic personality, so there was bound to be some banter and "Mickey Taking". The players of today are like Computer Generated Clones. Give me these "Old Timers" any day of the week, at the very least they were honest.

Of course ur right, just a very different philosophy to others, but it was funny he was so patient with the Legend(and he def was)that is Paul McGrath, who there have been very few to equal him in Defence..But in general JC believed in pragmatism and that meant every man having a specific job to do,so he expected his Midfield players to pull their weight defensively.
..So I imagine he considered Matt le Tissieur somewhat of a unnecessary luxury..But what a character!

But as much as I appreciate JC about certain comments being taken out of context,I do believe football has way too many "Skeletons", as far as finances go..
Some very odd/unique practices...Fergie at UTD nearly got found out when he tried to challenge the old owners for the Breeding rights to the horse they gave him(Rock of Gibraltar)He sues his employers after they gave him a rather nice Gift?,but soon backs down when they started investigating his Son(who is a football agent)..And then u had the Harry Redknapp BS

Come from the same area as the Charltons. Shame he didn’t manage England. However, the honest answer about Matt Le Tissier would be you must play him and build the team around him. Matt was the best midfielder Britain ever produced - and not emotionally / intellectually ‘volatile’ like Gascogne / Best. Incidentally today, Matt has shown himself to be a great man - not just a great player.

Big Jack dropped Liam Brady because he didn't get the ball forward quick enough for the style he wanted to play so would he have wanted Le Tissier?Maybe,as Brady wasn't the same type but who knows?

Tavy@ i didnt know the best and marsh road shows were on camera. Its sad to see that george was mostly a few more drincks away from being drunck and is drincking on stage and this was 1994, by his appearance a would say this was his worse years on the drinck, when you see him in 1990 then just 4 years later its starting to change his appearance very quickly as it always does, i have been there myself and it ends up frying your brain once you get into your fortys it doesnt have the same effect. You can see here george seems disintirested and his hair looked unwashed or maybe its just unhealthy the way alcohol affects your system.

the weakness in Big Jack's account of the Bob Stokoe Don Revie incident is it might not have been the incident Stokoe was referring to. Revie might have been speaking to Stokoe earlier and was hoping for confirmation of that earlier conversation.
