    I've had patella tendonitis in my right knee for over 10 years. I play drums (the cause of the problem) and have been at that for 28 years. I did this massage on myself and my pain is completely gone in one intense 4-5 minute session working deep through the pain. Thank you guys for putting this video up, I can't believe all the PTs I've been to never said anything about this technique. Subscribed!

    Everyone suffering from chronic pain below the Patella and cant find a solution needs to read the following:
    I suffered from patella pain for the past 10 years and went to many many docs who couldnt find out whats wrong until I finally got to the right one.
    The cause of my pain was not from the patella tendon itself (although i was sure it was) but from the fat pad lying underneath. It is called Corpus adiposum infrapatellare. If it is inflamed you will most likely have the same symptoms you have with patella tendinitis.
    What made the fat pad irritated over all those years in my case was a high riding patella (patella alta) which squeezed the fat pad when i bend my knees.
    In most cases patella alta develops if you grow up fast in short time. There is especially one diagnosis that seems to correlate with patella alta and it is called Morbus Osgood Schlatter. It is a growing disease that opens the bone of your tibia (where the patella tendon attaches) which seems to lead to patella alta as a long term consequence.
    I did have a surgery to bring my patella back in place last week. It is called Tibial Tubercle Osteotomy. Cannot say anything about the outcome yet.
    Please check out the following if you are witnessing unsolved patella pain:
    Did you grow up fast in short time?
    Did you have Morbus Schlatter before the patella pain thing?
    Are your knee caps very „visual“ when you sit normal?
    Check your X-Ray photos and compare them with patella alta X-Rays
    I'm writing this here because in my case exercises made the condition worse and i want ppl to be sure they are targetting the right thing. :)

    I can't believe how effective this was for me. It was also a reflection of how ignorant I've been in regards to my rehabilitation, but I've had inflammation in my right patellar tendon for the last 4 years. I've tried sonic shock therapy, massage rollers, endless ice and rest. The pain never left.
    I followed your advice and after 1 week of intense deep tissue massage as per your instructions, the swelling has reduced dramatically. I literally feel blood flowing to that area.
    It hurt like hell when I found the clump of scar tissue there and started rubbing it into oblivion. The pain was intense. I iced afterwards for an hour and did it everyday for 20 minutes. Honest to god, in 4 years my knee has never felt better.
    You guys are doing god's work. Thank you so much for helping me and everyone else.

    Thanks. Your video, presentation and demeanor are wonderful. I've found on my own that putting pressure in points helped, which feels related. I find that keeping my quads massaged and stretched helps too. I'm hoping this may be a missing link for me. I can't get the burning to calm down unless I restrict my walking to just going to the bathroom and icing throughout the day. It's debilitating. I can't walk around at all, not even cooking, without increasing the inflamation. It takes 2-6 weeks of not a single lapse to get the burning to settle. Once I get slightly pain free I have so far in almost a year always back tracked to square one with the slightest increase in mobility. Should I be using crutches or a wheel chair? It feels crazy to be so immobile for tendonitis. (I'm sure that's what it is, as are 3 different PTs and an orthpedic doctor)

    Hi, great video. For individuals with chronic tendinitis, is the chronic swelling that accompanies the injury for several months later (not the acute inflammation) a result of scar tissue and/or misaligned fibers? If either or, would deep tissue massage, such as the one provided in the video, be of any benefit for chronic inflammation of the patellar tendon? Thank you!

    Thank you for the video! As a kid I had pretty bad Osgood Schlatter Disease and the bone at the tibial tuberosity is large on my left knee. I was doing running and got very mild tendonitis and the pain went away. After that I joined gymnastics, and I felt good enough to do a box jump, big mistake! I felt the pain and dropped to the floor holding my knee. It took a month for the pain to subside enough for me to stop limping. However, its been about 2 months since then and my Knee started acting up after playing an hour of tennis. I was wondering what I need to do to get better and get back into playing Tennis. I went to see my doctor and some physio therapists, but they didn't give me any exercises, and honestly didn't seem like they knew what they were talking about. I was wondering if someone would be able to help me out? My knee gets injured quicker than most people by a long shot so I am confused on what I can and can't do. Please reply :(

      @kevins5166 9 років тому

      ***** Oh ok, why exactly are they good to do? Should you feel slight pain in your patellar tendon when performing eccentric squats? I was under the impression that eccentric squats would break up scar tissue and remodel the tendon.

    Hi guys. Was curious while undergoing with treatment what kind of activity modifications do you suggest? I would think any heavy squating of lunging should be avoided. What about cardio?

    hey guys im a little confused, is this treatment more to stop/prevent pain? or to actually cure the injury and the tendons? for instance if i do this for a few weeks and my knee feels okay and i start to work out again am i likely to re injure the knee and make it worse?

    In your video, you mentioned osgood schlatter. I have it and right under the lump is where I have moderately torn my patellar tendon (literally on your model where it has snapped). I would really prefer not to have surgery. I am a D1 athlete who pole vaults and hurdles. Is there another solution to heal my knee other than surgery? Thank you

    Hello! I suffer from Patellar tendonitis on my both of my knees for about 2 years now. How long should I be doing these exercises before I start seeing improvements on my knees? Thanks

    • @jvaleable

      About 2 years ago, my right knee started feeling stiff when I played soccer. Not long after that, my left knee started hurting as well. I had an mri on my right knee and it said it was patellar tendonitis. I didn't bother to had an mri on my left knee since it was pretty much the same pain. Last year, I tried physical therapy for three months and didn't help. I had 10 prp injections on my right knee this year. I also took gelatin powder, since my doctor said it'd help but they still hurt. I'm starting to get worried that nothing so far has worked for me. I also want to avoid surgery for now.... Any suggestions? Thanks for replying to my question.

      Hi, not at all. My knee pain has worsened ever since. I tried these exercises (and a LOT bunch others I found on UA-cam) at home for a while but they were just causing me more pain. I guess some tendonitis treatments might work for some, but not for everybody. Or perhaps I might not have patellar tendonitis but something else. Who knows! The only thing I have not tried yet is knee surgery and am starting to give it some thought! :/

    After playing volleyball I felt a sharp pain that went from the inner side to the bottom of my knee. I've had it for a week and it gets better when I rest and ice it, but hurts a lot when I walk fast/climb stairs. I haven't seen a doctor yet and im not completely sure if i have patellar tendonitis, do you think I should rest and see if the pain will gradually stop or should I see a doctor right now? What do you reccomend for the pain to stop and for my knee to get better? Thanks.

    I was told that it technically isn't tendonitis because inflammation only occurs for 48 hours following initial "injury". I was told that after that period it is tendonosis. Is this true?

    • @crispycruiser4654
      @crispycruiser4654 Рік тому

      Tendonosis doesn't form in 48 hours. More like 6-8 weeks. After 12, it's tendonosis. Tendons take a long time to heal due to lack of blood flow.
