Why More Jesus Stuff?
I’ve been a believer my whole life, I’ve attended Christian schools my whole life, and I’ve heard the stories of Jesus countless times. I’ve also seen every Jesus movie and miniseries ever made, and there have been dozens. So why a new TV show about Jesus?
Because I have a passion for people to hear the “old, old story” again … for the very first time. When I see Jesus movies, it’s sometimes hard for me to feel moved or excited. I've heard the stories before, and many Jesus projects just take you from Bible story to Bible story, not spending as much time on the humanity and backstories of all these characters. And they sometimes feel stiff and formal.
So when we started to write a show that explores Jesus through the eyes of those around Him, we were repeatedly moved and excited. We explored the backstories of Simon Peter, Matthew, Mary Magdalene, Nicodemus, and a few of Jesus’ miracle recipients, and in turn, experienced Him in the way they did. We couldn’t help but identify with their recklessness, rough pasts, religious piety, and desperation for life change. And ultimately, their redemption.
One of our favorite responses from an early screening? "The story of Jesus that actually appealed to my teenagers!"
No matter where you’re at in your journey with Christ-whether you’re one of the many people in the gospels who encountered Jesus after a horrific past without Him, or you’re a Nicodemus who’s been a lifelong member of the God team-Jesus proved over and over that we have so much to learn and innumerable traits that need change.
We hope this show allows you to see Jesus as they did.

I started drinking when I was 16. I would drink at parties, but I also started drinking alone because I was unhappy, and I was in a lot of emotional pain all the time. My mom was very aggressive when I was younger, and my brother hated her and so did I. He started hanging out with shady people, he started failing all his classes, he was never home, and my parents fought all the time. I also ran away several times. I was always trying to figure out a reason as to why I was here or what the purpose of life was. So, I started looking at different philosophies, religions, and beliefs. When I was 18 after I was hungover, I got on my knees and I prayed for the first time. I asked if God was real that he would show me he was real because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was crying when I prayed for this. At that moment I felt a presence come over me like a wind. It was barely noticeable, but it was unlike anything in my life I had experienced up until that point. I was surprised when I felt it and I remember saying “what was that?” after that experience I pretty much forgot what happened and kept partying, until my senior year when I got arrested. After my arrest, my parents lost all their trust in me and I was expelled from high school. I was told never to come back. At that time, I felt afraid and hopeless. That’s when I started looking for God, and I prayed that he would reveal himself in my life and that he would give me signs. My prayers began getting answered so consistently that I couldn’t deny that God was doing something. It was mysterious and compelling. I ended up in Church and started reading the bible hours a day. I stopped hanging out with all my other friends because they were continually getting arrested. I was able to forgive my family and myself and to ask to be forgiven. I noticed how at Church people were judgmental and how they formed cliques but were afraid to be around anyone else different from them. It increased my faith because I realized Jesus was not like that and ever since I was young, I saw people as people regardless of who they were. After a while, it’s like I could see God's presence was in my life and then it felt like he wasn’t, and then he was, and then he wasn’t. One day I woke up and felt more depressed than I ever have in my entire life. I felt like I was dying on the inside. That night I prayed, and I said, God, I don’t see my life five years from now I'm going to die Jesus save me Lord, please save me. I was weeping when I said it and when I asked him to save me, I felt a presence inside of me like a heartbeat, and I felt it once like a pulse, and I said Lord please save me and I felt it again even stronger. It was like radiance. When I woke up the next morning, I had transformed everything felt brand new like I was a kid again. All my fears and all my racing thoughts everything was gone. I looked at my hands, and I said this can’t be real it’s impossible. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a different person. I started praying, and the holy spirit became entirely real to me it was washing over me and inside of me. It was total love and peace, and I heard a voice but not an audible one, it was an inner voice. It said I am with you; I love you, I will never leave you, it’s done it’s finished. That was May 3rd, 2009, and ever since then I’ve followed God, I have seen many things change and many things I know wouldn’t have changed without faith and belief. I know what it’s like to be lost to feel you have no hope. Don’t ever think you’re stuck, or life can’t change because it can. My mom is a Christian now, Its night and day. Some of the things that went away during that period were severe anxiety and my addiction to alcohol. I’ve seen and experienced so many things that are miraculous and seen how God has worked in my life. When we ask God to forgive us for what we’ve done and turn away from our sins and wrongdoings and we believe in Christ's sacrifice everything changes. His word says if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that he died and rose again we will have eternal life but not just life after death but abundant life in the present. Our sins are erased not only past, present, and future but our burdens and fears are lifted also. Our thoughts, our minds, our hearts, our souls are transformed and united with God and we know his spirit lives in us. If you seek, pray, and knock you will know JESUS IS KING!!! HE LIVES!
Watched first 4 episodes... Moved to tears when Jesus called out to Mary by her name and when He helped Simon at his most desperate. Reminded me of how the Lord called me out by name after hitting rock bottom and repenting. I thank the Lord for what He is working through this team and series. What a beautiful way of presenting the Gospel and the power to be reborn though Jesus. God bless you THE CHOSEN team and all those who hear of the Gospel through your work.
Already bought the next 3 episodes! There's such value in seeing these newspaper-esque Biblical stories through the complicated and emotive eyes of the people who experienced them. How easy it is to remove the complexity and just read the highlights of the story. These were people just like you and me... complicated... impacted by their history and their story... and Jesus came to them. So excited about this series!!!!!
You cannot watch the chosen without having tears, incredible series bringing life and you feel you're part of it, the best thing to happen in quarantine

Representing the non-religious/atheistic audience members of this incredible show, I must say to Christians, we love his story just as much as you do! Most of us live by his example, even though we do not believe in deities. Bless all of my brothers and sisters in this life! This production of the Biblical story of Jesus is what humanity needs; not to be separated by religions, but to be joined together by his actions as human being. We are Atheists, and we love you, too

Jesus always prayed to the god and asked help from him even the night before crucifixion, he asked god to save him from death and god helped him as the bible said. I watched the 4 episodes of the Chosen, and I must say... an absolute rare work of beautiful art- from the actors and the characters to the cinematography to the tangibility of the Gospel, everything is so raw and real- absolutely relatable. I have read the gospels before, but I have never seen it in such light and hope... the characters are SOOOOOOO REAL!! It was a pleasure watching this... I’m just now getting to watch this, and I’m blown away. I’ve cried, I’ve been mad, I’ve giggled a little, bc Jesus had a sense of humor and this movie made me want to hug Jesus and bow down to him. They fail to understand, that, people on the Autistic spectrum cannot deal with irrational noise. There is a bit too much vanity in the thing as far as I'm concerned.

I’ve watched many tv series but this one, maybe because it’s a Christian tv serie about Jesus , but i cried on each episode. I don’t what would be ogres reaction if they watch this tv serie , a non believer, atheist or a person from another religion. God I pray for everyone to know you, to know your love, to open their eyes, ears and heart for you to see you , to hear your voice and to open their heart to you . Amen ❤️🙏🏻

I'm watching this series for the fourth time through in two months. I don't normally tear up or cry when I watch movies or television, just a few I can think of that affect me. I find myself tearing up on pretty much every episode of this series. They've obviously done their homework on the historical-cultural context of the time of Jesus and it really helps one connect emotionally with the original text. Watching it has inspired me to dive deeper into the Jewish culture of the time and I've learned a lot just in the past few weeks about the relationship of the rabbi and his disciples, which has in turn been transformative in my work as an evangelist. I started watching it about the same time I went to full-time status as a preacher and it's been perfect to help keep me motivated for the kingdom.

Let me just say I watched both seasons so far. I absolutely love this show. It brings a fresh new perspective. It gives the gospels a human touch. Because no matter of the Bible is translated it always sounds like it's beyond us like we aren't even worthy to read it. But this brings it out into a whole new light. To show that Jesus while he is God. He was very much a man too. I also love how he stats that he is here start a Revolution not a Revolt. Which is true. Love the show very much I'm praying that this show will reach many to come to know the Messiah. Keep up the good work. May God Bless you all keep you safe from the attacks of the Real enemy.
Can't ever get enuf of watching this miraculous series. It always seems like I'm watching for the 1st time. I get choked up or I end up crying. Its very addicting. Jesus is really working in our hearts to come closer n closer to Him. These are the last days. He had to create 'The Chosen'. ❤

Passion of the christ is still the best and most accurate film.
Stop criticising and support the best you can. It might not be accurate but it still talks about Jesus and He's the one the world needs.
But it doesnt have jesus teaching and miracles or even the resurrection appearances

This truly looks amazing.
It is amazing! It honestly sheds a whole new light for me about the Gospels. And some of the scenes are just so impactful. I recommend watching this. It's different than any Bible movie/show I ever watched but in a good way! They still keep to the word but add things in a very realistic way. Thanks to Dallas Jenkins and his team, I have grown closer to God and this is coming from a teen.

Bless you for making this available for all of us who can't go to theatres , I am 74 lady and this is my uplifting way better than going to church as a Greek Orthodox never felt moved by the Holy Spirit ,until I was reborn in 1979 when I left and found the truth with the Church of Christ . Thank you for renewing my spirit and my heart with every episode .St.Catharines -Ontario -Canada . I can't wait to watch season four !!!

Definitely will! Ever since I saw the Shepherd I've been trying to spread the word. God is definitely in this. I saw the first episode now as well and it was so beautiful! I definitely can relate to the characters and it is pulling me closer to Jesus. I know God will use this, I know he already has been. Again, God bless you all!

@Dallas Jenkins It's all True Dallas.. I Can't think of a single thing that I've watched in my 58 years that has moved me like this show has... The only other thing that comes to mind might be The Passion, but it was a movie, and too short... and maybe Unplanned Movie, That one came close.. but The Chosen has reached into my core... and Mary is Right... I will know him for the Rest of my Life!!!
