Scotty and Joe.... together again...the legend and his protege... living out their lives that most of us dream about most every day... great video... cant wait to see Scotty out on the new bike. As for his old one... tell Scotty it belongs in a museum. Tell Scotty to contact Matt at Wheels Through Time... thats where The Old Mule belongs... its a piece of motorcycle history.
Always check your gear pack it tight. Moto giant just had a bad wreck cut his foot off because sleeping bag came loose got into back wheel. Safe travels
Great video glad you got your shocks taken care of. Next time your around the Johnson City area feel free to give me shout. I'm in the piney flats area.
Scotty is like a new proud Poppa with the new Bike. Good for him. It's the little things in life that make us happy. I'm sure the new shocks were a game changer on your Bike. Maybe I'll catch you guys on the road 95 n. bound Saturday to 26 then 77.
Joe, you get through Davenport Iowa which right along the Mississippi River in the i80, 74 corridor make sure that you are able to stop by a restaurant called Mission BBQ.. you will love it.. nothing is frozen and everything is cooked up and smoked the day before.. its a new restaurant that does some really cool things for veteran. They're able to travel to events They're hired for in a old duece and a half with a custom smoker built in the bed of it
After I had written the comment, I realised that many modern bikes have one fork for preload and the other for rebound damping, So you have fitted the springs correctly as the instructions stated. I run 70's Japanese bikes. They are not like that, I am getting old, and my memory isn't as sharp as it used to be
Hay Joe. Back like 20 years ago, I had a 83 GL1100 that would not sit on the side stand the forks and rear shock were so beat. So I put Progressive springs in the forks and a set of shocks in the back, and man, what a difference. Fixed the brakes and put on new tires. It looked like shit but went down the road great. Ride safe brother and watch ⌚️ your 6.....
The efi on Scottys bike isn't bad, it's problem was if you added performance parts it's wasn't tunable. If I were Scotty I would replace the 2 fuel lines sooner rather than later, that's what blew out on mine going to Sturgis last year (400 dollar tow and 400 dollar repair). The new gas eats that old rubber up. Those fuel lines are pressurized with check valves in them, best to fix before the leak.
Commented too soon. lol. Was in Lake Lure bout 4-5 years ago. Rode 74 to Asheville and back. Just to visit some friends while we were there. Love that ride!
Man I don't feel bad as the amount of tools I carry now. We use those remote resovor type shocks on our race cars due to the heats like you were talking about. Glad everything is riding better and man Im going to have to try that BBQ place as that looked good.
Great video! Glad you got the shocks done and it’s always great to meet up with friends! I was wondering if he was going to get that bike packed up and get going on it.
Hey Joe, it was great cathcing up with you last and glad you got the suspension sorted out - that always makes a huge difference! That BBQ sauce looks really good and I definitely want to see about ordering some to try it! Another awesome video brother, as always! Ride safe and thanks as always for sharing!
Scotty is right. Unmolested Harleys are the best as stock is most always dependable. I will take dependable over somewhat more power every time. Broke down along the road trying to troubleshoot a bike modified by someone else sucks. Your spine thanks you Joe for replacing the rear shock. In a month you probably be a half inch taller again 😁
Joe ,Rogue here, you're going to really like that shock. I put the same on mine 4 years ago. It is very easy to set up, plus free rebuild when you need it. See you at Sturgis. PS, stay away from the women ! They just take your $$$$ .
Hi Joe, i watch all your videos, this video is the cherry on the cake, by far the best. Please try keep going with the bluegrass/country music 🙏. Im from South Africa and enjoy your videos
Red threadlocker is fine where you can get to it and heat it up to break it loose. This is from Permatex: Permatex High Strength Removable Orange Threadlocker is a hybrid formula that combines the strength of Red threadlocker with the removability of Blue Threadlocker. Orange Threadlocker is ideal for modern day engine bays with a great deal of lightweight components and high vibration applications. Unlike traditional Red Threadlocker, Orange Threadlocker can be removed with hand tools when extra force is applied.
The right-hand spring seems to have been fitted upside down. When you removed the left spring, the coils at the bottom were tighter wound than the top spring coils. Unless that is how the right spring needs to be fitted, that is just an observation.
About the springs. My CTX1300 has two different fork shocks. I'm not sure, but it seems one side is for dampening and the other for the rebound. One does call for slightly more oil than the other too.
Man I am aching to see see you'all at Jody's place...where we spent so many hours...I remember the day you changed the stater on your green machine, i bought it on amazon , and it's was a POS made in china...cheap for sure. anyway, I'll be back soon, as soon as I am finish ing some works in Europe..money talk...miles will come . I'm happy you've got new springs, good for your ass! How did the girl chase went for you? love you young brother!
Joe, I’m headed down, on my bike from upstate ny tomorrow morning. I’m meeting my father in Tazewell to ride the back of the dragon.. any spots you’d recommend camping tomorrow night when I get into VA area?? Thanks!
There for a second, I thought you were on a carnivore diet, but I guess you’re on a keto diet, glad you got your chocks changed out yeah that makes for a brand new bike for sure sometimes that some of the best money you can ever spend as shocks for a bike , travel, well, Godspeed
Yeah, it's pretty much carnivore, although I do eat some vegetables and a lot of fat. I just feel a lot better when I do it. Yeah shocks are the one thing that make the most difference.
@@dirtymotorcyclevagabond I just started the carnivore diet about a week ago , going good so far it’s a little expensive hey but meet good, travel well, Godspeed
I really do enjoy your videos ever since you started with Scotty trying to get out there myself, but I don’t believe I’ll be a UA-camr once again enjoyed it.
I've got to do the rear on my 2013 NC700X, 50,000+ miles and I'm just noticing that it's hitting the potholes harder. Tried that keto thing and didn't like it. Went full carnivore four years ago.
In the old country, we pronounce it, woostersheeer sauce , i know that is not how you spell it. And thank you for pointing out , all the wannabees that think they have to ride the tail of the dragon, to officially be a motorcycle enthusiast.

Nice to meet you finally! Wish we'd had time to stick around longer. You got a great shop brother

We shall see. I got my doubts about that early efi system. I'll bet he swtches it over to carb before too long

Lived out in Clyde/Waynesville when I got out the Army and went to Haywood community college, so I recognize a lot of this area! Good times!

Great video, try "Open Pit " BBQ sauce one day if you haven't by now..the classic in a chef's kitchen
I'll check it out!
That’s going to feel like a new bike. Especially in the corners. Hope the new suspension gives you many trouble free miles.
Absolutely! Totally transformed the handling
Very cool EPM Performance....heading to their site now....Nice bike Scotty.
Cool, they're priced a lot better than some of their competitors
Great video Joe. It's nice to have that connection with a lot of bike shops to help with your repairs to your bike.

Good info 👍 I've heard about it, but never used it.
The graceful hills of western North Carolina coerced me to put a '99 sportster under my arse. I thought I was done riding motorcycles.
Haha cool!

Yes, definitely put it in opposite of the left side.
Yep, I noticed that too.
That’s how the instructions have it going in
He might of went back and changed it who knows. It may not make a huge difference
Ahhh good. See I knew you were smarter than us lol.
How did the Johnson city trip go😂 don’t leave us hanging on the details Joe.
I'll have to check out that shock mfg.

Funny you say that- its exactly what I did! Too hungry I guess to record that part lol
Is Jody closing his business or simply moving to a different location in Asheville
