I took that as she was “in love” with him but he wasn’t “in love with her.” That I get but I also took it to mean Jim was trying to discredit Freddie and Mary’s relationship. Bitterness? Legacy? That’s why I never read tell all books.
Cameron Kord I’m not so sure about Hutton. I read his book and Mary is rarely mentioned. To this day, Mary has carried out Freddie’s wishes by burying his ashes in an unknown place and never wrote a tell all about him.
