Alex, Going forward, the Maverick's 4,000 lbs tow rating seems like a good benchmark for all compact hybrids. For some time I have been calling on Toyota to upgrade the RAV4 Hybrid to a 3,500 lbs tow rating in the next generation and Ford has proven it is attainable in a 40 mpg hybrid.
@@ToymonkeyjrActually, it’s a compact CUV. The mid-size SUV and CUV are the 4Runner and Highlander (respectively). Also, payloads are FAR greater in trucks than SUV , which is why they get sturdier frames, suspensions, cooling systems and electrical systems.
As much as I like my 2019 Colorado Z71 4WD, I' will consider selling it and getting a Maverick AWD hybrid. Ford's lack of a hybrid AWD was holding me back, but I have no excuse now. Good job, Ford!
That is a really nice update by Ford on the Maverick...I have a 2019 Ranger in for service and sat in a 2023 Maverick in the dealers showroom..Im a bit svelte at 6'2" 250 lbs..I was generally surprised at how comparable the room inside was to my Ranger..in fact the seats were more comfortable...headroom and overall space were equally impressive..I don't see myself moving into a Maverick soon but its good to know that room at least for me shouldn't be a problem...thank you for the great review
I never fell in love with my hybrid fwd. ended up with a non-hybrid AWD and have enjoyed it very much. I’m going to order a hybrid AWD to replace my fx4. Be well, and thanks for posting.
I own a 2022 XLT Maverick Hybrid, and this pretty much answers everything that I would want to change. I'll probably end up ordering a AWD Hybrid for 2026.
Thanks for the clear to follow breakdown. I am glad I got my xl maverick hybrid over this. The price increase does not justify the 2mpg and i dont need awd that bad. I also love the physical hvac controls i have but this is missing them. Love that green paint
HVAC controls are the biggest miss IMO. But there's gotta be compromises to hit price points I guess, and despite what many manufacturers market, programming a Chinese screen is a lot cheaper than designing and manufacturing buttons and dials.
Original Santa Cruz pre-order guy here. The AWD hybrid is going to be money for Ford. It's a nice update on the outside, a few good updates inside, and that green is FANTASTIC. (Ford always had pretty good colours on this though, to be fair.) These "small" trucks (had an 83 S-10 many, many years ago, much smaller than this or the Cruz) really are the right size for most couples or people who don't need to pack a bunch of people in the back regularly. If you normally carry 3-5 people. these vehicles still aren't for you because the back seat space IS compromised for the beds. Good job Ford. Took you a few years, but you seem to have listened to what people wanted. (Still prefer my Hyundai though. :D )

We bought a 2023 Maverick and paid $32,000 for it with the towing package, AWD, and Fx4 package on the XLT trim, and it's in the beautiful Chili Pepper Red color! So we are really happy and content with our little truck. These new models have bigger screens and a decent new front-end design, and I love that green color, but I have a few gripes about it that I would still choose my model year if I bought again. Namely: the touchscreen climate controls, the blue interior accents are more obnoxious than my orange ones, in my opinion, and of course, the starting price is about $6,000 higher.
The thing I love the most about my maverick is the physical buttons. I just want to pause my music or adjust AC with one click instead of everything being built in to the touchscreen. That being said I’d love to double my towing capacity at no cost to efficiency- tempting but I’ll hold onto mine for now
As an owner of a 23 Maverick EB, these changes look good, however, I'm disappointed in the price increase again. The new base price is almost what I paid for an XLT, AWD, EB with a bunch of options. Also, don't love the new HVAC controls.
I never thought I’d say this about a Ford or Chevy or anything else like that. but this looks pretty good. Went on the Ford website and priced one out with just all-wheel-drive the plainest XL trim you can get with all-wheel-drive and it was “only” $30,110 here in south Texas. Even in the snowbelt states it seems like they would like this.
The way they waited, it should've been a PHEV. This coming from the Escape and Bronco Sport further proves we need an Element, and not the Civic hatch/CRV/HRV overlap mess.
The AWD hybrid is the what I was waiting for! For the price I will go this route over the gas version. Good job Ford on the Maverick! I'm team both turbo and hybrid but in these days where you need to maximize your investment the hybrid awd is my choice!
Great updates, it fixed the things I was wanting most. Push button in XLT, and larger screen across the line up. I have a 2023 and while I likely won't be trading it in for the 25 it is temping with all the changes. Nice addition with the extra towing available with AWD also. Team Hybrid all the way
I love my 2023 Maverick Lariat FX4 w/ 4K towing, but I will DEFINITELY be looking at "upgrading" to the hybrid version. 18,000 miles in its first year and a dozen times towing has proven the size/capability for me, but considering now I can get hybrid efficiency in that green paint scheme?! I was really hoping for and AWD hybrid, but was totally not expecting 4K towing to go along with it. That's just as big of a deal IMO. Nothing else comes close to the value of this thing. Though if I towed often I'd still want the EcoBoost for the additional torque.

Any word on the Lobo trim? Weird that they didn't bother leaving it off the order guide when it wasn't unveiled with the rest of the lineup. I'm wondering what changed with that 7 speed quick shift trans.
I got fed up with the dealer shenanigans trying to get into a hybrid maverick last year and so went with the Hyundai Santa Cruz. Not my first choice, but it's doing all the things that I need it to do for now. $24k for a mid-level SEL AWD with sunroof, tonneau cover, non turbo, standard trans, lane keep, wireless CarPlay, all of that other stuff. I would get the Maverick as a trade, but likely it's going to be around $40k again for any worthwhile spec....too rich for a throw-away vehicle.
I'm glad I waited to get a Maverick. I like they updated the screen and added wireless carplay. Hybrid AWD with increased towing is a nice have. For those who actually need and use AWD because of the weather, great. For the posers who just want the badge as they mall crawl, remember: get a flat tire, and if your tires have wear on them, enjoy paying for all 4 instead of just one! The joys of AWD.
Good idea but if you want one, I hope you found the one Ford Dealer within a 200 mile/320 km radius that won't charge over MSRP and order soon. The AWD hybrid will probably not stay on dealer lots for very long.
Sounds great. It's about time for the AWD Hybrid. Hopefully the AWD Hybrid option will be available in the lower trims and isn't reserved for Lariat+ trims. There is one more thing the truck lacks - the 7.2KW Inverter that the F150 Hybrid has.
7.2kw invertor would add a lot to the price tag. A 1.8kw invertor might be more realistic for this truck. Even then that would add to the cost substantially.
I doubt Ford was surprised at how well the hybrid would sell. Seems like companies hold back crucial features in version 1 so that future versions have big selling points.
Couldn’t believe Ford didn’t offer AWD in the Hybrid to begin with…how did they miss that. My son needed the AWD, so got the bigger engine, The AWD is a slam dunk…I mean, seriously - is there a more practical vehicle on the road?
I ordered an 24 maverick but then ford said the dealer messed up my order and it wasn’t going to have half what I had wanted added. So now I have a corolla cross hybrid and it was built standard with what are only options on this new ford 🤔. Plus I preferred the old front end.
I have a 2023 XLT Hybrid and so far have not needed the towing that comes with the AWD version. But I would be tempted to trade mine for an AWD Hybrid if I can find a cheap RV to tow during retiremnet.
Glad to see Ford add some safety feature, but it seems to me they are missing the boat by not including all the safety features like adaptive cruise, blind spot, etc. in all the trim levels. Currently driving Honda hybrids and even the base models have the safety features. I realize they are available as options, but they should be standard equipment.
Wish they sold a 2-door full size bed model. Definitely not a strong market for it... but it would be cool! The AWD hybrid is a great addition. I think Subaru is actually in the crosshairs for people cross-shopping with Outback.
Team hybrid for sure now that AWD is available in the hybrid. Once again, unlike big corporate giant Toyota, Ford listened to their customers. I agree Alex…..perfect.
Yeah a lot of people like to claim that you don't really need AWD, and for the most part that's true, but there is no doubt that it is very nice to have and worth the money.
Curious to see how much of an MPG penalty the AWD has. If I were looking at an ICE truck (I don’t have enough need for a truck to buy one) this would be at the top of my list. If they made an EV version of this with decent range and charging speed, it would sell like crazy
Note: the AWD system is a mechanical AWD system, not an e-axle like we see in Toyota hybrids.
Meaning? Is this better and more reliable?
@@JD-xo3xz mechanical is better for stuff like off road and e-axle better for stuff like efficiency and electric

This truck is about to be the GOAT with hybrid AWD.
This is a fantastic deal except for the constant dealer markups that are around 7K
Sounds great. It's about time for the AWD Hybrid. Hopefully the AWD Hybrid option will be available in the lower trims and isn't reserved for Lariat+ trims. There is one more thing the truck lacks - the 7.2KW Inverter that the F150 Hybrid has.
It is available on every trim
That inverter would be the dream!
Looks great.
Would have been fun if they did a big power inverter like the f150 hybrid can have.
Couldn’t believe Ford didn’t offer AWD in the Hybrid to begin with…how did they miss that. My son needed the AWD, so got the bigger engine, The AWD is a slam dunk…I mean, seriously - is there a more practical vehicle on the road?
Would love a lariat hybrid with awd in Ruby red metallic. 👌🏻
"Please provide me with a king cab with an extended bed."
Team Hybrid ALL THE WAY!
Current hybrid is flat towable for us RVing- will the AWD be flat tow compatible?
I like the Maverick but I'd love a two door long bed Maverick even more.
Very cool option. They will sell a ton of them. Fingers crossed on the price.
Now lets get that Plug-In Hybrid that the Escape has!
Really hope Ford would roll out a plug-in hybrid AWD. It will easily out sold EV pickups like the R1T.
Hybrid is a sweet deal.👍
Have you heard if BlueCruise will be included with the 360 2.0 package?
AWD hybrid is the way to go. The big Q is the reliability though.
Team hybrid for sure now that AWD is available in the hybrid. Once again, unlike big corporate giant Toyota, Ford listened to their customers. I agree Alex…..perfect.
We need a V6 grabber trim!!
I'm not into trucks at all, but tbh I considered a Maverick just because of how extremely affordable the hybrid is.
I may just trade in my hybrid Mav for a hybrid AWD one. I live in the Northeast, been feeling the lack of AWD sometimes.
Yeah a lot of people like to claim that you don't really need AWD, and for the most part that's true, but there is no doubt that it is very nice to have and worth the money.
They likely won’t be able to keep up with demand is my guess for the awd hybrid
Curious to see how much of an MPG penalty the AWD has.
If I were looking at an ICE truck (I don’t have enough need for a truck to buy one) this would be at the top of my list. If they made an EV version of this with decent range and charging speed, it would sell like crazy
Quick question, Is the Hybrid AWD is flat towable behind a motorhome?
