There's a mod called Distant Horizons which effectively increases the render distance to infinity by decreasing the detail shown on blocks that are far away. If you use that mod, you should be able to get giant builds like this in one shot, which I think would be pretty cool
Another fun fact about installation 00, the planet in the center is used as a resource world, meaning sentinels mine the planet down to its core for materials to use to build new ring installations, there is always a half constructed ring ready in case an active installation is destroyed. Notable times being the replacement ring seen in Halo 3 to replace Installation 04, destroyed in the first Halo game, and again seen in Halo Wars 2, a replacement ring for the replacement ring for installation 04
This map has a lot of Hunger Games potential. Like, imagine. The big arms hold 100 randoms while the smaller arms hold 50 elite players/ UA-camrs etc. And each arm will be a separate competition, and they all get filtered to the center for a mega fight.

I don't get to see people give Halos architecture justice when rebuilding it In minecraft. So I was amazed to see this made to as best of scale as possible and it looks awesome

In the mod: Litematica there is an autoplace function that if you point at a schematic block that you have in your inventory it will automatically take it out and place it. So for everyone building this in survival, that function will save a lot of carpal tunnel and 16 of the 17 million clicks
You could use the distant horizons mod for a huge render distance. The only problem is that it doesn't really work with shaders as it loads "fake chunks" and the lighting gets quite broken with smooth lighting turned on. You could also use the bobby mod for render distance instead (with sodium or some other mod for fps of course) and it also loads a huge amount of chunks, however not as many as distant horizons. Unfortunately, it did get pretty laggy when I tried it and the render distance is lower when not using optifine I believe so I would probably only recommend it for cinematics and not time lapses. Hope any of this helps lol.

just a suggestion but i know there are mods that increase the build height so if you find the right one you could redo this but make it bigger, which would be really cool

I feel like this could be turned into a really interesting adventure map. Maybe you have to solve some kind of quest or puzzle in each arm before moving onto the next one and then there's a big dungeon built into the core of the structure underground

To help give a perspective on how big this is. 1. It takes roughly 10 minutes using a flying machine to get from the center island to the small islands. To cross this structure using flying machines would take about 20 minutes. 2. It is almost filling the entire area between the center islands and the small islands, a barrier ment to keep you from simply bridging to the outer islands. 3. A flat 1500 by 1500 area would be 2,250,000 blocks or 35,156 stacks or 1,302 chests of material. This strutre would take more than that.
This is insane! Some day I hope to be in a dedicated modded SMP that allows me to do similar, because I've had an idea to remake Urithiru from Stormlight for the longest time but I've never had a reason to try it. This video reminded me of how cool the final product would be and I hope to make it some day.
You know, I've played Minecraft since it's initial inception in late 2009, and 2010+ I started a mega city, before cornered stairs, before an stained glass, and spent the next 7 years on and off turning thousands and thousands of blocks to a city world, and was actually pretty proud of it in the end, but you, you've truly outdone yourself with this, it's mesmerising, and so many people disregard or underestimate the usefulness oof world edit when used correctly to make amazing structures. I think you should be added to halo lore for this alone lol, an honorary spartan maybe xD
Imagine the ancient humans living on the ark for centuries just looking into space and seeing our galaxy so far away as just a glint in their sky I would often play halo 3 and just watch the skyboxes they are soo beautiful

Both this and the other mega structure you made are aweinspiring. Watching the process you go through to make them is so fascinating as when I think about how I'd undertake something similar I don't think I'd even know where to begin or the methods to use, so it's really cool to see how you go about shaping and bending terrain and creating these massive structures.

Carving up entire biomes to graft to the Ark is such a Forerunner way of doing it. Impressive build
The Ark from halo is probably one of my favorite mega structure designs and I am glad to see a pretty impressive recreation of it inside of minecraft.
You should work with like 20 other master builders, buy like a ton of g fuel, and make the full size ring

For working out the curves in blocks can use a graphics algorithm which is used to work out the pixel placement. Cant remember what its called though
