- 7 Reasons Why You Should AVOID The 2024 Suzuki Jimny...!
The Suzuki Jimny has recently seen a spike in popularity due to the ever-rising trend of SUVs and the retro aesthetic it provides. However, when it comes down to it, the 2024 Suzuki Jimny is a pretty flawed vehicle, and we've come up with seven reasons why you should avoid it…
Reason #7: The Weight
One significant drawback of the Jimny 2024 is its lightweight build, weighing in at just 1,050 kilograms, or about 2,300lbs. While being light offers advantages in terms of maneuverability and fuel efficiency, it poses several issues that make it a less appealing choice for certain drivers.
Its lightweight design becomes a liability when driving the Jimny on the highway or in windy conditions. Due to its low mass, the vehicle is more susceptible to being tossed around by crosswinds or turbulence caused by passing vehicles. This can result in an unsettling and shaky driving experience, making it difficult to maintain stability and control. Now, there are other cars for sale which are as light as the Jimny, but unlike the Jimny, they’re typically hatchbacks with a lower ride height, meaning their overall ride quality isn’t affected as much.
While manufacturers aim to address these concerns during the design process, the Jimny's lightweight build inherently compromises its ability to handle adverse conditions. Unlike larger and heavier SUVs, the Jimny's lack of mass makes it more sensitive to external factors, leading to an uncomfortable and potentially unsafe ride.
If you frequently travel on highways or reside in windy areas, the Jimny's lightweight nature might not suit your needs. Being constantly jostled from side to side can be disturbing and annoying, impacting the vehicle's driving experience and overall enjoyment.
Reason #6: High Fuel Consumption
One aspect of the Jimny 2024 that potential buyers should be aware of is its notably high fuel consumption. To put it bluntly, this vehicle is a drinker. It guzzles down fuel at a rate that might leave you questioning your choice.
Equipped with big, fat wheels and additional modifications, the Jimny's fuel efficiency takes a hit. While exact figures may vary depending on driving conditions and personal driving habits, it's safe to say that the Jimny falls on the less frugal side of the fuel economy spectrum.
When you factor in the Jimny's off-road capabilities and ability to tackle rough terrain, it becomes evident that these features come at the expense of fuel efficiency. The additional weight of the modifications, combined with the vehicle's boxy design and less aerodynamic profile, contribute to its thirst for fuel.
Suppose you're someone who covers long distances regularly or values cost-effective commuting. In that case, the Jimny's high fuel consumption can quickly become a financial burden. Constantly refueling at the gas station impacts your wallet and contributes to increased carbon emissions and environmental impact.
Reason #5: Lack of Insulation
Another significant drawback of the Jimny 2024 is the lack of insulation, which results in a less-than-pleasant driving experience. It's important to be aware that this vehicle falls short in terms of providing a quiet and peaceful ride. In fact, the Jimny can be best described as a "no bueno" when it comes to minimizing noise.
You'll find nothing but bare metal behind those plastic covers you see on the interior. There is absolutely no insulation to mitigate the sounds from the outside world. Whether it's the roar of the engine, the noise of passing traffic, or the whistling wind, you can expect it all to infiltrate the cabin.
As you look at the sides of the vehicle, it becomes evident that the lack of insulation also extends to the exterior. Just bare metal without any noise-dampening materials means that every little sound from the road, tires, and surrounding environment will make its way inside.
This lack of insulation can quickly become tiresome, especially during long journeys or on highways where the constant noise can be a constant source of irritation and fatigue. It can detract from the overall comfort and relaxation you'd expect from a modern SUV. Exploring alternative vehicles that prioritize sound insulation and a quieter cabin will be wise if you seek a more enjoyable and comfortable driving environment.
Reason #4: Limited Electronics
When it comes to electronic features, the Jimny 2024 falls short and offers a slim selection of technological advancements. Don't expect a plethora of high-tech gadgets or cutting-edge infotainment systems in this vehicle. In fact, the electronic offerings can be summed up as slim to none.

Clearly you have not driven one and you do not understand the purpose of this vehicle, as it is not in the same category of regular SUVs. Although it cannot be driven at high speeds, it still is a good vehicle for highways, although its main purpose is off-roading. So the context of the video is knowingly out of place, it is like if you named 7 reasons why not to buy a Suzuki Swift Sport and you listed off-road conditions. In its environment, the Jimny is an excellent vehicle, of course, like any other, with its drawbacks. I am the happy owner of one and have driven it both in highways and in dirt road conditions, and as since the beginning I was aware of its capabilities and limitations, I love it. That is why it is so important to make informed purchases with the objective opinions of experts and not only based on a subjective comment based on a technical sheet.
Well done mate, I feel like I waisted my time watching this nonsense number 8 should of been the lack of colours 😂 and 9 it's shaped like a box, they clearly failed
@@yaghoub2983 hahaha and number 10 should have been: “so, in conclusion, as I don’t like the Jimny nor its fact sheet, nobody should like it either”.
We had before one car from 2002up to 2022That's our Jimmy susuki very good car ,and never broke down in 20 years.from england
You are clearly correct, this expert is an Ai/computer voice. Those that like these little Suzukis already know before they even make the purchase. The Jimny was not meant or purports to be a GWagon or Rover.
Absolutely right, mate.. not all thing have to be efficient for experiences
Can’t wait for this channels next review when they go over the lack of off road ability of the latest Ferrari.
Jeez,I bet your wife wants a black bloke.
😂
Lmao IKR.
🤣🤣🤣
This vid is basically AI BS
Jimny is a lifestyle. Not a car. Few people get that. Like the maker of this video 😂😂
DEfinitely get it
I own a 2023 suzuki jimny and I fvcking love it 🤭😂
I think this guy is forgetting one simple thing it’s intended for being a light off road vehicle for small weekend trips, light easy to go through sand and muddy terrain simple interior because it’s not a luxury once again weekend off-roader
Thank you so much for convincing me to buy my new jimny!!! Whohoo!
True..hahaha..actually i already booked one😂
You’re funny. haha
You can't hardly find a tracker in the states, they found homes in the Caribbean ! Great little cars !
Likewise!😂😂😂 but is the jimny he’s referring to includes the jimny sierra 5-door hybrid off-road model. I was confused
I have a jimny 2023 as my main vehicle and the only things I didn’t liked was no arm rest and cup holders but this things where easily fixed. Other than that I love this sexy little car.
Share what you did for aftermarket arm rest and cup holders. Thanks
It has door arm rests/handles the centre one is over rated 😂 omg the more this idiot talks while I'm writing I feel like throwing my phone. I feel like this person brought one thinking he was getting BMW saloon. I don't even own one I'm not even a total fan boy but I do like them have since the 80s model. Ok I gotta go I wanna smash my phone listening to this flop talk 🤣
@@Slopeside65I got an armrest, cup holders and a few trays from Ali Express. Cheap and handy.
But it looks good… so I bought it!
😂👍
This is all I need. I cover 1 mile back and to work, then the little bit of snow, I mostly ride by myself. I like to camp when I can, and the grocery store is not far. Sounds Amazing!!!!
BEST 4X4 on the market.
SIMPLE, RELIABLE and FUN.
I don't see simple dashboard controls as a drawback when we basically got iPad screens shoved into so many newer cars. Having everything as a touch screen creates a distracting and often laggy experience.
Also, the MPG from what I read was about 30 MPG which isn't bad at all.
Your points about lack of insulation and noisy highway driving are very valid though.
You know these modern cars, they have somuch of really really really advanced electronics which means that they have unlimited electrons in them. When these electronics are switched on, those unlimited electrons rush out and flood the road.... they go and fill out in every nook and cranny of the road thus making the road very smooth..... so smooth infact that the car literally glides over it. The jimny does not have that advantage of those electrons because of which it is so difficult to ride offroad. 😝
Agree - less technology means simpler build and easier to fix - we live in countryside and value of car is how easy u can get it fixed
I have one and drive it on the highway often. I don’t notice any noise when driving it.
Clearly, your 7 reasons for NOT wanting to buy a Jimny does not apply to us in Australia . We certainly don’t buy the Jimny for any of your reasons mentioned . By the way, we also don’t eat in our vehicles, so chicken nuggets a poor reason not to buy a Jimny 🤣🤣! We understand many Americans eat & drive, we don’t . And most importantly, we buy the Jimny to go shopping, short trips to the bush & hopping down to beach, for long trips we use out Toyota Land Cruisers, so here in OZ, the Jimny is our favourite knock about vehicle. I don’t think the US are able to build a comparable vehicle.
People like this moaner are idiots. Yes here in New Zealand they are very well loved as a all rounder. There's a massive waiting list of 12 months which people are putting theirs on marketplace etc for 10 to 20k above new price
They trying to sell and tell us what they think they want to sell you and me! What a bunch of fuckin idiots!
Yes!!! please don't buy it!!! So the demand gets reduced and I can get the unit I ordered delivered
These people didn't get it. Jimny is not a luxurious, fast highway cruiser, it's not what it was built for. It's a small, basic, adventure vehicle, not a Rolls Royce. And the absence of a lot of stuff means there is less hit that can break.
Mine has DRLs, connects to my cell with bluetooth to play music and does 10.5kms per litre with big BFGs and i love it, its not even that noisy, buy one guys, they are awesome....
I own one, and I love it's simplicity. If you are a crybaby and wants comfort.. I guess it's not for you.. simple as that. Better check the brochure, watch some videos and test drive before buying..
I dont like Touchscreens in cars. Cause you have to look at them while using .
Sounds like exactly what i want, please sell the Jimny in the US. My Samurai need a stall mate
This is like 7 reason you shouldn’t buy a Corvette because it can not go Off Road on sand, mud, snow etc lol
I was on the 2yr waiting list fot the first import Steel wheel SZ4, no sat nav [ it is now the 5 ] As a 70yr old I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Tiny, noisy, uncomfortble, hard plastics, zero aero on motorway, just like the cars I rememeber. Alas now with power steering, air con, it may look 80's but is a modern car underneath.
I could aford a new defender but think they look a bit entitled, showy, a Jimny is not a satus symbol.
PS rubbish irelavant review.
Agreed, the Jimny is not everyone's cup of tea, but then it was neither designed to be, nor does it pretend to be. Having owned a Jimny since 2021, I would only agree with two of the seven reasons, the lack of insulation and the limited interior storage space.
Lack of weight, that's actually an advantage, fuel economy is not a problem, the wheels are certainly not big & fat, it's "off road capability" is THE REASON to own one, you do have to refuel frequently but that's because it has a tiny fuel tank, my smart phone integrates just fine and the advanced driver assistance systems are there. It has DRLs, and it's too small to need rear air conditioning vents.
Steering & handling - definitely a matter of inappropriate expectations - we're not discussing a compact crossover SUV intended for trips to the mall here, if that's what you want, then the Jimny is not for you, this is a body-on-frame construction, live axle, rear wheel drive (when in 2H) purpose built off roader, and it's going to drive like one, I knew that before I bought my Jimny and I have not been disappointed in the slightest.
I found this video looking for details on the new five door Jimny, which I see as potentially "bigger & better" and I'm seriously considering one.
Electric car guy, I bet it!
Boy! You really hate it don't you? iLove it!
VWs have sensational fuel effieciency, but the engine is rooted at 80,000km. This immediately unravels every cent you have saved in fuel.
keep it simple it is an offroad car for camping lovers with some of onroad drive not for highway and not for speed and it is cute and sexy and with ability of modification :)
I agree on the stability vs wind when driving at high speed but I don't see this generally as a fair review if just drawn from paper.
Once you get 225/75/R15 or 235/75/R15 tires plus some good suspensions like dobinsons, it will give you way more stability and I'm sure you'll love it.
All the exact reasons u have said makes Jimny a unique desirable vehicle….This vehicle is an old school true blue off-roader without electronic junks…This is a vehicle for exploring unreachable places not for highway cruising or shopping in supermarkets 🙂
Which year mileage efficient..?
You just described all the reasons i love this car. I love the simplicity and rawness of the Jimny. We have a Model Y and this is a perfect second car for us. Easy and cheap to maintain, goes everywhere and puts a smile on people's faces when they see one.
Best ad ever made for the Suz' ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Huh! Clearly someone has a blinkered view of what a vehicle should be and absolutely no understanding of what the Jimny was created to be! I so many respects these are actually positive aspects to look for in what the Jimny is supposed to made into!
absolutely love my jimny.. did a 1250 km 18hrs highway drive with family of 4.. hasnt disappointed a bit.. with a throttle controller it is awesome..
At any rate it would be nice in Suzuki came back here to the states with this vehicle.
Jimny + roofrack + larger tyres + rear and front bullbar, overlanding gears and equipments. Weight is gud enuf👍🏻
I like that all of the reasons that they are giving me are supposed to be turns offs like they arent current issues Im dealing with now. My daily driver for the last 4 years has been an salvage 88 Ford Bronco 2 with no insulation, a broken ac and a center console that isn't very functional (doesn't hold giant US fast food cups, too shallow to hold any cups). So it all gravy to me.
That's perfect for the trails! Light, less electronics and I can modify it as I go🤙😊
If I wanted a to carry lots of stuff, I would buy a Ute, if I wanted a car full of electronic gadgets, I would buy a sedan, if I wanted a highway cruiser, I would buy a big sedan, if I wanted a hugely expensive gas guzzling 4WD that would send me broke and depreciate thousands of dollars every year I would buy a huge 4WD, that I would be scared to take off road or on the beach - but if I want a cheap runaround with 4WD ability and minimal electronic crap to corrode and breakdown, I would buy a Suzuki Jimny. 95 percent of the time, I am driving by myself, and the remaining 5percent of the time is either a mate or significant other - the jimny has to be one of the cheapest 4WD’ to run and maintain ever made ands its so reliable it hardly ever needs to see a mechanic. I feel guilty taking my Jimny to a mechanic as I have to beg him to find something wrong with it as otherwise it’s just taking up his floor space and time for no return.
Well.thanks for that. We've just biught one today.Always wanted one. Had the Samurai in the 90s. Taking it to North Wales next weekend and going to bloody enjoy it.
Is it really bad? Only open highway like people say? Or
@@tugboat8475 mate..it's bad to the point of good 😊.
Ropey as fuck box...a wandering steering.. thirsty little fucker but loads of fun and smiles👍
@@tugboat8475 and 320 Rd tax
@@wesleypresley1000 thanks we went with a Nissan Navara warrior. Few $$$ more
Brilliant little car really useful with looking after our horses with the dirt track's and ability to carry food and there gear . Plus not even sold as a Sport utility vehicle but as a utility vehicle.
Highly impractical car. But with all its quirks, it is a beauty in my eyes. So i bought one.
It looks really good though, but not a safe car to drive at high speeds. People here keep saying "it is an off road car" , but still it can reach 80kph, then it needs to be tested at that speed. If you really want it labeled as a purely offroad car, then ask Suzuki to limit it's speed so people don't include that in safety tests. You don't understand safety.
Hi, 2013 Jimny owner here. Would be interesting a jimny with sunroof. All other reasons are just for people who only go on paved roads, city guys.
Now i can see why this has only 60 likes...
that was quite funny, 1st its too light and will be blown about by the wind, then its too heavy and uses too much fuel, lack of electronic gadgets. its a small, cheap, highly capable off road vehicle that also works well around town. what's not mentioned is that its fun to drive, it puts a smile on your face and best of all it will get you to an out of the way back corner, factory standard and et you home again. there's a reason they hold onto so much resale value.
I would love to know how its closest American made rival compares on all those points.
I drive one on the highway at speed every day of the week, it doesn't get jostled around like you say it does. I doubt this guy has ever driven one. Btw, a Smart Car's turning radius is 7.3 meters, a 5.7 meter turning radius is tiny, stop making up lies about this vehicle.
how about aircon?
This vid made me love the car even more
I just simply love my Jimny though 😂
It's such a head turner on the road, just fun to drive over all
Missed the entire point of the vehicle. Impressive!
half of the reasons to not buy it, is like trying hard to convince me to buy it :P
This is a dream car for some of us old school drivers😊 this is close to anything from the past, compared to alien looking electrical machines now adays that jeopardises driving experiences
Are serious dude? I think you never drive or know 4x4 vehicle in your life.
this is a good vehicle... just stop it
If you agree with this video you shouldn't be considering to buy a Jimmy, buy a Rolls-Royce instead
it's not a regular SUV
it is a compact dual solid axle true off-road vehicle
Which car are you comparing Jimny with ????
Well only the isolation is a bit of a problem.
But that can be done later.
All the rest is fine.
It's a legend 🔥
Put some lead in the back in windy areas 👌
I want the blue one!
try and drive my LRD I love my Jimny
How to say you've never been in or driven a Jimny in 9 minutes.
A vid by someone who is not an owner. I have the basic steel wheel 2019 uk version. Not for sale now or ever.
You were quite emphatic on point 3! I hear what you are saying...you must be the kind who thinks food grows in drive-throughs. Definitely not for you.
Best vehicle around.....love it!
the thumbnail is sick
It's not an SUV, it's a 4x4.
Obvious propaganda to stop the popularity of the awesome vehicle...like consumers reports did woth the samurai
How is the light weight a flaw you?!
My daughter's first car was a 2000lb Toyota Yaris, I've had that car bouncing off the speed limiter many times. If you think a Jimny is scary I challenge you to drive a tractor trailer across Wyoming with 70mph winds or the Chesapeake Bay Bridge during a tornado warning. You're soft boy
Jimmy is built for people love in off-road and adventure place that people don't came always due to in accessible.
i got a gen 4 ...i drive in the city mostly but i rally in the dirt in the mountains , sure this thing can take punishment i love it
while talking about electronics I only smilied-when started the whining about _chicken nuggets_ 5:45 I literally laughed : D
I don't give a damn I still want one
Best vehicle I've ever had
What a load of crap,
I don’t buy cars for the drive through dining conditions and did you ever think that most cars these days have got so much tech on them that most people forget how to drive. To many distractions leads to no self awareness on the road. Take the car for what it is and enjoy getting back to basics.
I think they're awesome 👌
It is a cute 4x4 beast
Lol I have one and I absolutely love this car ❤
Thank God they don’t sell it in America! They wouldn’t fit inside anyway…oops! I am on a waiting list waiting for one.
Micro Suv is the word
About light weight it is engineered design they know what they are doing.
The Jimny has a cult following and for good reason. Allot of reviewers that aren't familiar with the Jimny's heritage don't realize that the cons that they usually state for this vehicle are actually the very reason why people buy them. These vehicles are low tech because that's what people want. It provides reliability and ease of repair. Especially in off road conditions. These vehicles really shine off road so naturally there would have to be some drawbacks to comfort on road. The light weight makes the vehicle incredibly nimble off road and also makes for a very cheap 4wd. These are just some of the many reasons. So no, I don't want heated seats, sun roof, reverse sensors, tire pressure sensors etc. I want something that's cheap, rugged, reliable and very good off road. That's basically it's market interest. I think you really need to understand a vehicle and its target audience before you make a uneducated review on it.
Good video, but try to do less cuts and more slow motions. It seem like an action movie
I think the reviewer is expecting a modern
SUV.
I just saw one this evening in Phoenix. I like it. All seven of the reasons given is why I like it. I've read quite a number of negative articles against the Jimney since I got home. One article states it can't be made street legal yet I saw one on Olive heading East with a license plate. Some car manufacturers might be scared of the Jimny.
Less electronics = less trip to the f dealers to fix sh it
You my not like them but I love them ❤❤❤❤
definitely I`ll buy the Mercedez G Wagon 🤣
Dude, one buying a Jimny knows all these "reasons". These are the reasons why i BOUGHT my Jimny. It is not a car, it is a toy. 😂
The typical ‘u should buy’ guy…
Clearly this guy is paid to destroy Jimny😂
😂😂 I have one and it’s the cooled must awesome and fun car !
"less appealing choice for certain drivers"
Continues to list reasons why people who wouldn't like the jimny, won't like the jimny.
But I want I 😢
These reviews are usually made by people who can't buy one or cannot afford one! #hatershate
Lol…why hate jimny that much? Are you from toyota? Ford? Or Kia …dude when creating a car, theres an engineer..and they should know what will be the proper ratio of weight against its size…the regular consumption of the car is 12 to 14 kilometers per liter of gas, not bad at all.
I own a commercial brilliant car
You are expecting g wagon at jimny price...
This list is for babies who need comfort crossovers.
