I carry 5 wedges. Apex irons came with 43 PW and 48 GW, I added the 52, 56, 60 so that my gaping is even. The way I see it, my PW is more like a traditional 9, 9 is an 8 and so on. This works out perfectly for me.

I'm such a fan now of this video. I absolutely can't stand hitting full swing wedges because 1. I can't swing them like my irons. 2. I must swing my wedges in a way that makes them have the flight I want and 3. The soles of my wedges aren't wide enough. Thanks for creating a truly inspiring video Mr Taylor. God bless you and your family

My standard set up is P7MC bent to 44.5* , MG3'S at 49* 9 bounce, 54* 12 bounce, 58* 12 bounce. I also depending on conditions will go MG3 44* 9b, 48* 9 bounce, 52* 9 bounce , 56 * with 12 bounce and a 60* with 9 bounce. I have a ton of wedges and believe these are much more valuable at my age 62 than trying to score from 200 yards out. I hit all wedges at 3/4 swing to half and this works good for me. If I played an extremely long course I would add a long club and go to 4 wedge set up. Bounce is as big a deal as loft in my opinion.

I hit the ball long off the tee so I'm always using my wedges. I carry 5 wedges: P44, 48, 52, 56, 60.

2, wait maybe 6, never mind whatever helps you get the job done. I think it’s possible to get a bit too obsessed about wedges because they are kind of cool.

50, 54 and & 58. They have jacked up the loft and a 50 for myself is a must as I use a 3/4 swing for my wedges foe consistency. If I need to hit it shorter I choke down vs longer or shorter swings .

4 wedges: PW (45 degree), 50, 54 & 58. I want c. 12 yards gap between clubs - my combination delivers close enough to that to be useful: PW-50 (9 yards), 50-54 (13 yards), 54-58 (14 yards), I have no idea why the 5 degree difference between PW & 50 delivers a smaller yardage gap than the 4 degree gap between 50-54 or 54-58. Although I should hit the 58 a little further, I normally prefer not to hit full shots with it so not a big issue

I carry 4 wedges PW, AW, SW, LW. The gapping is perfect and I use the, all. I play Taylormade Stealth, and if I change to QI or P790 same set up.
When I looked at Callaway, Titleist and Ping because of their strong lofts and gapping you need 5 which for me is too many.

i grew up using 2 wedges no such thing as a gap or lob wedge back then or i'd never seen any for sale or anyone using more than 2 wedges, learnt to use them. nowadays i flit around with 2 or 3 depending where i play and conditions.

As many as you want. I carry the stock Mizuno PW that came with my set. I believe it was 47* as most stock mb irons are. I had it bent to 48 though. I prefer a 58 and a 54. I suppose I could play a 52, 56 and 60. Sometimes dropping a 3 or 4 iron can be done, but honestly I have always preferred a 58 degree lob wedge. I can just hit more shots with it. I can open the 58 the same as i can a 60 yet I can get the few extra yards on standard face shots. So Ive chosen to do a 6 degree gap between my pw and sw instead of between sw and lw. It's just whatever you feel comfortable with. period

I carry a 45° PW, a 50° AW, and a 56°/12° - bounce SW. I am getting very good results with the PW and AW, not so much with the SW. The courses I play generally are a little dry in the summer and I think the bounce on the SW is a little to much for the thin grass we have. I'm going to purchase a 60° lob wedge with the thinnest bounce possible and see where that takes me. I presume I will start using the AW as my sand iron and take the SW out of the mix to keep me at 14 clubs in the bag.

The club manufactures have basically taken two clubs out of our bags over the years but the rules still only give us 14 clubs max. It would have been nice if they’d given us one more to fill the gap.

I carry 4 because my irons came with a 45 degree PW (that I love!) and 50 degree GW. Added 56 and 60. If my PW had been 48 like my last iron set (at least I’m pretty sure that was the loft), I’d have just added a 54 and 60.

For me my 45* PW is for everything from about 100 yards downwards. I then have a 55* high bounce SW and 60* low bounce LW which are specialty clubs only. They are for out of bunkers and for flop shots. Otherwise most of my shots are with a PW. And it isn't like I am skimping on other clubs. I only have 11 clubs in the bag

Pw-44 and sw-54 that are part of my iron set. I've got a gap wedge at 51 and lob at 60 which I picked up second hand. Never really happy with spacing of gap wedge, could do with it at 48/49 never got round to it.

As a newer player this has been a dilemma for me. Do I buy a full set of wedges like the well-reviewed Kirkland wedges or do I buy just one premium sand wedge to start then add to it over time? How important is the fitting (shaft length, lie angle etc.) with wedges, compared to irons?

    • @rdj3video
      @rdj3video Рік тому

A lesson once taught me to take the 54…learn to hit those 20 to 40 yard shots with it and then go from there. At the time my bag technically had 5 wedges. Probably 2 too many back then so I become an inconsistent jack of all trades and definitely a master of none.

I’m experimenting with 3 after having 4 for over a year. Gone to 48, 54, 58 instead of 46, 50, 54, 58. It’s given me back a 3 hybrid that I’ve missed a lot on long par 3’s and shorter par 5’s. I feel I can cover the shots either side of the 48* fairly easily.
