Hi Jonathan, came across your channel by accident!! What a wonderful experience to watch you work. Thank you so much for your time and effort to record, edit, post and share - it truly is appreciated. I have been wood turning for about two years regularly now and you have just woke up my inner desire for adventure in a carving challenge. Thank you so much again, can't wait for your next adventure posting, regards and best wishes. Tony.
Thank you very much f9r that message Tony! I started sign making about 5 years ago and it's slowly evolved into making sculptures as I kept challenging myself. I love working with wood and trying to make something beautiful from it! The only advice I can share is to go for it!wood carving is just about practice and patience. If you want to see more of the things I have carved, take a look at my Instagram page at instagram.com/p/BvOuCsNAU8g/?igshid=1npm0z6nykoar . Thanks very much for watching!
@@DaveGDesigns it's a proxxon power carver, this is a link to one in the description. For the design, something I found on Google and adapted a bit. If you ping me an email I.will happily share the design with you
Johnathan, missed this one. Nice assortment of tools. apparently only Amazon for Europe carries the Proxon tool. I'd be worried about the torch in a wood shop. LOL! I'm sure your VERY careful. Noticing on Instagram your work is getting smaller. LOL!
smaller and more detailed! I have lots of shows coming up and need items that are more sellable. not everyone wants to spend loads of money but its nice to have options! as for the torch, yes I try and be very careful, fire extinguisher at the ready. hope your winter is coming to an end and you can get back in the shop!
This looks really good Johnathon. I’m busy making Steve Garrisons’s ammonite just now, but I would love to make this too. Where did you get the initial pattern?
I got the idea from seeing Steve's. Just bought his pattern to so can't wait to start that! I can send you the pattern if you like, send me an email and i will pass it on.
Really nice work. Although, as I was watching you carve and seeing your table moving around I thought to myself, "Dude needs a solid work bench." LOL! Now I want to try something like this.
that's just a little portable sawhorse I use, helps with filming. I can make it nice and solid with some bolts I have underneath but don't bother most of the time. it move a lot when filming but not so bad when actually carving
@@JohnathonWhittaker well it had me fooled. Lol..I've one of these in mind to do but leave it attached to a block of wood so it looks like a giant fossil..
Absolutely brilliant!

@@fishtank5050 that would.be a good plan or attach to a slab of some kind. Good idea though, might work for a display!
