This program is really the crown jewel of all her programs. She is simply in an artistic realm that is beyond words.

One of my favorite Kwan performances.

You notice that she takes her time. Not saying she doesn't have a lot of speed, she does. But her moves are held and nothing is rushed. A lot of today's skaters are so frantic and do their moves in less than a second. I miss that flow Michelle had, the way she melded the moves together and was so light on the ice. This is one of Michelle's best programs by far.

Michelle's connection to the music is exceptional. Every note. Her choreography is untouchable.

Not really she was boring to watch. Sasha ‘s choreography was more artistic and magical and much more beautiful !

@@Jacobeeez Sasha's performance was boring. She had the only one style and never changed.
Sasha had to skate on crutches or she would fall everywhere on ice.
      Actually, Michelle's artistry was better.

You know, for Michelle doing 7 triples in an event where most of the skaters were doing exhibitions programs with 3 triples , she really should’ve gotten 6.0s in the technical mark.

I can never forget how Michele brings tears to my eyes whenever she skates... The emotion she evokes on ice is beyond comparison. I don't know if we'll ever have anyone else that could come to her level of brilliance in this lifetime...

That sequence with the 3flip, 2axel, and 3salchow was amazing. This program was so well choreographed and paced.

What a lovely music to be hearing this for the first time. And to see a video of Michelle Kwan performing to this is extremely iconic. I love this music on how well and mesmerizing it went with her skating.

Such a difficult program. The amount of energy needed to execute that intense footwork sequence at the end, plus the jump! Too back this was the only time she was able to perform this program perfectly.

To E.Riveria.. I was at the aranjuez nationals and world's and at Tosca Nationals. They were amazing programs because of how she skated. Just out of this world talent. But I still prefer the programs of the frank/Lori era. They were always jam packed with difficulty and the elements flowed from one to the next. They showcased her artistic talent to the max. DON'T EVEN WANT TO GET STARTED naming all her perfect programs .

Michelle peaked too early with this program. The National's performance a month later was still very good but had a fall on the last 3lutz. She was then unfortunately sick at Worlds two months later and made mistake in the SP and had a subpar LP performance. If Michelle had skated like this at Worlds then she would've won the 1999 World title even though Maria B. of Russia was quite good herself at that event.

  • @sherryanng19

Her programs from 96 to 2001 were just phenomenal. Wish she hadn't left Lori and Frank, but I always thought she was under pressure to "re-invent" herself .... judges kept saying they wanted something new from her. I didn't quite understand that, her skating is her skating.

    • @AT-jm4dl
      @AT-jm4dl 5 років тому +5

@@jjh2456 The irony is that MK could've won SLC without doing any 3-3 at all; She just had to skate the LP clean and turn on the performance level for the last minute of the routine. Unfortunately Michelle felt pressured the entire 01-02 season by the fan and the press to do the 3-3 and include more difficult 3-3. The pressure got to her at SLC and then of course Sarah's standing O performance with two different 3-3s before Michelle was about to skate did not help Michelle's confidence. Michelle's biggest mistake was going coachless the Olympic season; That was the biggest head scratcher of all.

    • @jjh2456

3A4T 10 absolutely. I get that she wanted to take more ownership of her career, but she needed a coach at that point. Tatiana Turasova would have loved to take her on then. Imagine her and Yagudin just feeding off of each other going into those Olympics.

@@jjh2456 However, Michelle had triple triple combo since 1995 ~ 2005 ( not every time ) , which means her technique was stable and better than the other skaters like Tara or Sarah had triple triple combo just for 2~3 years.

One of my favorite programs in a history of great skating. I love her short hair.....one criticism....her free leg in the layback spin in not good....I wonder why her coach. Frank Carroll, never corrected it....although. I did see one program where the position was beautiful.....We don't have beautifully choreographed programs like this anymore...just flailing arms and ugly spins from this new generation of skaters adapting to the Code of Points scoring system.

Your ability to critically think is terrible. Michelle Quan showed up to that Olympic Games undertrained, out of shape, regressing without a coach, with a huge mistake in her free skate, a recycled short program, and none of the spark and spunk that she needed to win.
If you think it’s tearing someone down to tell the truth, you must live in a very well hidden glass house

Finally a program she skated that didn't bore me and make me wonder how she won so much gold. Her jumps are so tiny and her set up to her jumps are soo exaggerated with her arms flared out ready to make the jump . She pouts when she dosent win too. Her edges and slways cheated as well.
