    When you think of the modern greats, Peggy Fleming & Dorothy Hammill stand out. No question Dorothy was that rare combination of true athleticism & beauty. Funny thing is most women whom guys consider beautiful or just plain hot don't see them selves as such. For Dorothy, she in my eyes was an athlete who figure skated. Much credit must go to her father & coaches...& Uncle Dick...who made certain she would succeed. By this time she was 30 & was at her peak. She was the ultimate in beautiful & her skating. God Bless Dorothy for the joy her skating brought us. A babe then & a beautiful woman today. 🌹

    Dorothy, I stole your haircut! ♥ And I love it!
    And you're still the most graceful skater I've ever seen. ☺

      I still love her hair - especially beautiful here. From back in the 1970s - the days of women demanding not having hair in our eyes, for sports, for safety, for freedom. Today, the haircuts are longer in front - hair in one's eyes, mouth, line of vision. I just may ask for a haircut like this, showing the video to a stylist. Let's bring back hair that allows for women's independence.

      figures in Figure skating was like barre work in ballet. It developed line and strength which makes actually dancing more defined.

    Comparing Pro style to Amateur, but this is just so much better than the pro /pro-am style that's current today, thanks to the current goofy scoring system.

    I always love watching the "greats" of figure skating, and her scratch spin is to DIE for. I know it's just a personal opinion, but I think the dress would have been much prettier if the back part of the dress was also on front. I'm just not a fan of that super high cut front. That aside,I've thoroughly enjoyed watching this performance.

    • @poorthing
      @poorthing 2 роки тому +1

      That high cut leg greatly lengthened her leg, you don't see that cut much anymore but it was ubiquitous in the 80s & 90s & I admit it was the first thing I noticed on her costume....all that ornate beading and lace on the neckline also screams the 90s.
      She looked lovely and skated beautifully.
