question about your lc2i. where did you get get the12v and ground for it from? did you run a wire off the amp's 12v/ground? anything besides the +/- signal, 12v and ground needed for it?
117fluffypandas I tapped into the power wire to my stock amplifier. LC2i requires only millivolts. Put a 1 amp fuse inline. No issues with my setup so far. You can ground it to chassis. I tapped to the stock amps ground also. No issues and no ground noise.
I'm currently using your video to hook up 2 JL audio 10" subs. When you're explaining how to tap into the existing speaker wires, you said gray/black stripe is neg and blue/black stripe is pos, right? Well I only see a blue cable with gray stripe, is that pos? Also, it doesn't matter which one comes from left or right, correct? Do I tap left neg and right neg to the gray cable and left pos and right pos to the blue cable? I have a 2014 Silverado
To be honest. I am not entirely sure. I don’t have my GMC anymore. It’s very possible the Chevy is slightly different. But if you have the factory Bose it should be similar.
@@fondupot ok I'm pretty sure it is What I thought. But just to clarify if you would please, left neg and right neg go to gray and left pos and right pos goes to blue?

My converter won’t turn off with my ignition but my amp does? Any suggestions how to fix that? It is also getting powered from my amp so it doesn’t make sense to why it won’t power off without having to unplug the power cord from the battery everytime
Mark Ybarra is your amp using a signal to turn on. Or do you have a remote wire hooked into a keyed fuse? If it’s using signal then it’s just turning off when the radio is no longer sending signal. But there’s still power flowing. The converter mag not have that feature and is just staying on.
i know you said you no longer have the truck. I have a 14 with Bose. I tapped into the same sub wires at the amp as you did with my LOC but i have no signal out of the LOC. Any info would be appreciated. Used 2 diffrent LOC's one powered the other was not same result.
Zip Zap need more info. LOC gets power, ground, and high level speaker I puts. it gives out low level inputs for your sub amp and possibly a remote wire for that as well depending on the converter. any other questions?
I put my remote turn on where you did, and when i turn the truck on none of my gauges or the small screen on the dash work and the radio doesnt turn off when i open my door and remove the key. I also get a lot of warning messages. Someone please help. A quick reply would be greatly appreciated. Nice video btw, everything was very helpful
im going to be installing a lineout converter on a 2015 with bose. should i tap straight into the amp like you did and split the wires to the left and right positive and negative wires on the converter. or would it work just as good for me to tap into the speaker wires behind the head unit.
My method only works for adding a sub, if you're doing a full system, you'll need a full set of signals from somewhere. Doesn't matter where you get them.
i am doing a single sub as well and i was just concerned because i read that with tapping into the bose for your lineout the sub only hits the lows and not the highs like in rock. second question, where do i get power and ground back at the amp for my line out converter? im using a simple cheap Scosche LOC90 converter or do i need to get something different?
Gotcha. I listen to mostly rock and I thought it sounded fine. I pulled power off of my main power run from the battery, my LOC didn't need a whole lot of power, so it was find coming off of my amp power line. Same for the ground. That should be fine for a simple Scosche as well.
I wanna ask a question lol can’t believe this is 6 years ago. The lc2i - do you have to play with the adjusters or just plug in and good to go. Thanks appreciate it
+Ethan Green which connectors are you referring to? I used a product called "Posi-Tap" to get a signal from the OEM bose amp. Was there something else you wanted to know?
+Ethan Green gotcha. Yea, your high country im assuming is equipped with a bose system, so it should be almost exactly the same . I used Posi-Tap part number EX-255.
This is a bad ass install video. You were spot on with everything. I installed 3 JL w7s and deleted the small side of the seat. I personally bought a cap with the remote turn on but I do have one question. Where did you run the ground to? Mine is getting a weak signal. BuZZZZZZ. Annoying
I just tapped into my power wire for my amp. The LC2i does not require a lot of power, so it was fine just tapping off power from my battery that was going to the amp.
did any issues arise at anytime after your install? I am sceptical about tapping into my Bose system. I see people writing that they tap into their speaker wires. do u still recommend tapping into the amp this way? is this the best way to install amp and subs into a 2015 silverado crew cab w/ Bose?
+chad abernathey I haven't had a single issue. The amp and sub performs perfectly. I really do not know any other way to get sub signal other than tapping the wires like I did.
+Jose Rangel Likely not. You would need to tap into the outputs behind the headunit or at a door speaker. If you search around there is video another youtuber made that shows how to open up the headunit. He added a sub to his 'non-bose' system.
great video. I currently have my output converter wired in behind my head unit. Where can I wire in a volume control nob into my system? Converter has a remote turn on wire but I am not using it because I have the remote turn wire going in under the dash. Any suggestions?
+Nicholas Stoia PAC makes a RCA adapter to fit in line with the amp RCAs. Its not conventional as a ethernet style plug in, but it'll let you control your amps output. theres other companies that make similar items. smile.amazon.com/PAC-LC-1-Remote-Amplifier-Controller/dp/B0002J226O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1460092867&sr=8-1&keywords=pac+bass+knob
I'm just about to start the factory kicker sub install on my 2014 Denali with Bose. Do you think I should use the brown/blue-stripe and blue wires from the harness that they say I should use in the instructions, or should I connect via the Bose amp wires like you did?
I added an amp to my 2014, but I had to disable the door chime, or that would also be amplified. Is there any way around this? Since I had to disable the chime, that also disabled my ability to hear through the speakers when I blue toothed my phone.
Can't remember. I never had luck with the "signal sensing" turn on feature of the LC2i. So I just ran my remote wire while I ran my power, might as well.
Do you know if there’s a remote wire to the factory amp? Could possibly tap that instead of running a wire up to the dash. Asking only because you definitely have more knowledge of this than I do lol.
Hey thanks for the video. I just bought a 2014 Double cab and this video helps out a lot. Just curious as to what kind of sub box and sub driver you used? Also, what do you think of how it sounds? Thanks.
+Rick Brown I bought the sub box from a company called SuperCrewSound.com. It was listed as a 2013 extended cab fitment, but I called them and they said it also fits the 2014+ double cabs. I have no issues with its fitment, its perfect. You can have them customize the opening from like a 6" all the way to like a 12" sub. I went with an 8" Polk db840 dvc sub. I think it sounds great. I don't listen to any heavy bass music, mostly rock. But that thing will bump pretty good on songs with heavy bass. And it allows me to keep the bass centered on the headunit so the door drivers aren't vibrating like crazy.
+fondupot How large of a power wire do you think will fit in that channel under the door sill? In your video, it appears you are using an 8 ga power wire, but I could be mistaken. I need to use a 2 gauge power wire or maybe even a 0 ga and I'm wondering if it will fit? Thanks again for the video and help.
Quick question. During this quarantine I plan on installing my amp and subs in my 2014 Silverado with the Bose. I have the LC2i as well, but I've read that it's better to tap into the positive and negative of the door speaker instead of the sub, to get a better frequency range. Is that true? I like how you did the posi taps, that's how I plan on doing mine. Also with the "GTO" do you need to run a remote wire, or is it just easier to do that? I've always changed out the head unit in my vehicles so this is all new to me. Do I just need one set of RCAs, going from LC2i to mono amp? I'm just trying to get it all together and buy what I need, and do it right the first time lol. Great video
If I remember correctly the wire I tapped into has full frequency range. I remember reading a post on one of the forums when I was prepping and that's how someone else did it. The posi-taps are nice to use. I highly suggest the. I could never get the GTO feature to function correctly, that's why I ran a remote wire. One set of RCA's should do it.
after adding an aftermarket sub the volume on the subwoofer goes up when I start the truck, and when I rev the engine. problem stops when I open a door. anyone have this kind of issue?
Great vid. I'm going to attempt this with my 2017 Silverado, but skip the LC2i, and just go directly to my amp(R500X1D). Seeing that the amp has the settings on it as well for tuning the bass. Hope it works out and won't need to purchase the LC2i later.. haha! Figured, I'll grab one of these and connect it to the BOSE and then the amp: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B009B8EJYU/ref=crt_ewc_title_dp_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
I did a trial run(cables hanging loose, and speaker box per Fosgate recommendation, etc) until I decide if I want to build out of MDF or try and do fiberglass enclosure. I originally had these to test with, and it sounded really good. Audiocontrol LC2i P3SD4-12 R500X1D But, due to me having a Double Cab, the 12" would have been a really tight fit, so I'm going with the 10" version. only requires .40-1.00 cubic feet of volume, compared to the 12", which requires .60-1.20 cubic feet of volume. So now, I'm waiting on my parts(speaker/amp) to come in and will decide on how to build my speaker box, might go the fiberglass route. Waiting for better weather.. Here's a long thread on adding an amp/sub: www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/153662-adding-aftermarket-subamp/ I thought about going this route as well before buying my components: www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/199288-bose-subwoofer-replacement-option/ Here's two other options as well: www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/192219-lets-see-some-sound-systems/ www.silveradosierra.com/mobile-electronics/upgraded-kicker-system-questions-t289721.html I almost went this route, but the place I ordered it from, took over a week to even get back to me, so I canceled my order.
I had my amp & lc2 hooked up at a stereo shop and they tapped into the speaker wires at the rear passenger door. Do you think it will affect the sound of the sub by not getting the signal from the factory sub wires?

117fluffypandas I tapped into the power wire to my stock amplifier. LC2i requires only millivolts. Put a 1 amp fuse inline. No issues with my setup so far. You can ground it to chassis. I tapped to the stock amps ground also. No issues and no ground noise.
it will power up when the speaker come in it is better than running a remote wire.
If I just add a regular line out converter and it comes with wires for door speakers do I have to wire them also or only if I want too
Angel Gaytan you don’t need to rewire the speakers.
@@fondupot and I should clarify I'm also wiring from the LC2I line out converter. Different model from yours but I'm sure it's the same. I hope I'm giving you enough info
Not sure man. That's really strange.
You must have clipped a wire or something. Don't know what you did.
Dont worry everyone all is fixed. Thanks for your help, though :)
Glad you were able to figure it out!
Freedom Eagle grounded something and blew a fuse? what happened?
The Black Widow fill us in, what was the problem with yours? It may help someone in the future
You can run the remote off the LC2 it turns on with signal sensing.
Yea, i know. But I never got the signal sensing to work right.
im going to be installing a lineout converter on a 2015 with bose. should i tap straight into the amp like you did and split the wires to the left and right positive and negative wires on the converter. or would it work just as good for me to tap into the speaker wires behind the head unit.
Drew Hall
Gm can flash the radio to get a non-Bose signal.
Gotcha. I listen to mostly rock and I thought it sounded fine. I pulled power off of my main power run from the battery, my LOC didn't need a whole lot of power, so it was find coming off of my amp power line. Same for the ground. That should be fine for a simple Scosche as well.
Can I just run the bose amp wires direct to my monoblock??
I am not sure. I think you need a converter to calibrate the signal first.
I did the same thing you did put when I press the gas pedal the bass sound comes on nonstop
I had an issue with this setup and my connector for the signal was touching other pins in the block. Make sure it’s only on the ones it needs to be.
@@fondupot everything is working good, base. When I turn the car, and I close the door the base starts shacking a lot
Not sure then.
I wanna ask a question lol can’t believe this is 6 years ago. The lc2i - do you have to play with the adjusters or just plug in and good to go. Thanks appreciate it
I don’t think I ever messed with the adjusters.
you have an original LCI, does this version not have remote signal sensing to 1, turn itself on and 2, turn on your amp like the LCI2?
It was an LC2i....
thnx for the reply, can't wait to install
And what is a good brand of wires to go with
And thank you so so much for all the info
What connecters did he yall use? im adding two 10" pioneer subs into my truck. just not sure of the connections
+Ethan Green which connectors are you referring to? I used a product called "Posi-Tap" to get a signal from the OEM bose amp. Was there something else you wanted to know?
Naw haha thats everything gonna be using the video to put duel 10" subs into my 14 high country thank you for making it
+Ethan Green gotcha.
BuZZZZZZ. Annoying
I actually cant remember. I think one of the seat bolts. Dont have the truck anymore. sorry dude.
this is a really nice video very helpful thanks
Thanks for watching!
I just bought a 2015 midnight edition z71 with the bose system and looking to add subs, not sure where u got the power source for the lc2i
I just tapped into my power wire for my amp. The LC2i does not require a lot of power, so it was fine just tapping off power from my battery that was going to the amp.
I just installed it, bass doesn't seem loud,
You need to adjust the settings on your amp for your sub.
Brian Cole aftermarket head unit could have subwoofer off and maybe try playing with gains and bass boost
Brian Cole what kind of sub and amp?
You don’t have to worry about the remote wire to the distribution block shifting and contacting another prong?
Good point I don’t think I ever experienced an issue. But I guess that’s a possibility.
No need for RCAs if tapping at the Bose for signal?
Victor Mendoza negative.
did any issues arise at anytime after your install? I am sceptical about tapping into my Bose system. I see people writing that they tap into their speaker wires. do u still recommend tapping into the amp this way? is this the best way to install amp and subs into a 2015 silverado crew cab w/ Bose?
+chad abernathey
I haven't had a single issue. The amp and sub performs perfectly. I really do not know any other way to get sub signal other than tapping the wires like I did.
+fondupot Cool boss. if I have any issues, can I get in touch with you?
would i be able to do 3 15 inch subs 2 mono amp and a extra battery with this set up
I have no idea, honestly.
what size post-tap did you use?????
Part #: EX-255 - for 12-18 gauge wire
if you dont have the bose system, do audio wires run to the back?
+Jose Rangel Likely not. You would need to tap into the outputs behind the headunit or at a door speaker. If you search around there is video another youtuber made that shows how to open up the headunit. He added a sub to his 'non-bose' system.
Is this same as the LC7i Audio Control that’s the one I’m going with?
no because the one in this video is a Lc2i
Fondupot's Garage just didn’t know if it was similar, thanks.
Audiocontrol, is company makes them. However, the Lc2i can only sum 2 channels. While, the Lc7i can sum 7 channels.
great video. I currently have my output converter wired in behind my head unit. Where can I wire in a volume control nob into my system? Converter has a remote turn on wire but I am not using it because I have the remote turn wire going in under the dash. Any suggestions?
+Nicholas Stoia My volume control knob (for the sub) goes right to my amp. Check your amp to see if it has that feature.
I have a kicker cx300.4 and unfortunately it does not. If you have any other suggestions it would be appreciated. Thanks!
Nicholas Stoia
other than replacing the amp with another that has a volume control...i got nothing.
ShepContracting Honestly, I would follow the directions that Kicker gives.
I added an amp to my 2014, but I had to disable the door chime, or that would also be amplified. Is there any way around this? Since I had to disable the chime, that also disabled my ability to hear through the speakers when I blue toothed my phone.
Hmm, I am not sure. I didn't have that issue since I only tapped into the subwoofer signal. I would search around on GM-Trucks.com for some help.
Do you need remote wire if using the lc2i?
Can't remember. I never had luck with the "signal sensing" turn on feature of the LC2i. So I just ran my remote wire while I ran my power, might as well.
fondupot ok, thanks
u will not need a remote wire the signal from the speakers will turn on the LC2i
So how would I connect rca wires without a lineout converter?
Erik Barragan no good way that I know of.
fondupot would I need one like yours or just a basic LOC? My amp already has tuning on it.
Yea a basic LOC would work fine.
I don't know what I did wrong but sub only works when key is open once the truck is started thyiu can barley even Tell the sub is on
Possibly something wrong with your amp? Not sure.
fondupot it works fine with the ignition on but once the engine is running the sub barley works. The amp still has power.
Thats really strange. I have no idea what could be wrong.
Do you know if there’s a remote wire to the factory amp? Could possibly tap that instead of running a wire up to the dash. Asking only because you definitely have more knowledge of this than I do lol.
did u tap off the amp to power up the lc2i?
Yes, see my other reply to your comment.
Rick Brown
My initial thought is I think you might be ok. But I would pop off your door sill cover and measure it out yourself to be sure.
My truck does not have a gray wire
Do you lose your factory sub when doing this? Or does the factory sub continue as normal ?
No! They work in tandem. The factory sub is unaffected.
@@fondupot thanks for the quick reply!
You’re welcome. Good luck!
@@fondupot I'm pretty confident after watching this!
Also I just rewatched the wire tap, what kind of wire did you use? Is that your 8 gauge wire coming off of the bose power wire?
you don't need to loosen that box off you and just reach over it a d fish the wire thru
I tried that for a while, wasn't working. Was a lot easier to loosen the box and move it out of the way.
GOOD VID THANKS!
RAY COX thanks Ray!
after adding an aftermarket sub the volume on the subwoofer goes up when I start the truck, and when I rev the engine. problem stops when I open a door. anyone have this kind of issue?
noise canceling might be turned on. if you disable it problem might go away
Eric Stevens how do I turn of the noise can
Peter Rivera What vehicle?
Peter Rivera On my infiniti its called noise compensation.
arturo longoria Did you add an aftermarket amplifier also
Yea the L2Ci just gives you a little more control than one of those harnesses. But give it a shot first, and see how you like it. Cant hurt
Jay P how did it work out?
got a 17 silverado as well that I want to add more bass too.
I did a trial run(cables hanging loose, and speaker box per Fosgate recommendation, etc) until I decide if I want to build out of MDF or try and do fiberglass enclosure.
I originally had these to test with, and it sounded really good.
Audiocontrol LC2i
P3SD4-12
R500X1D
But, due to me having a Double Cab, the 12" would have been a really tight fit, so I'm going with the 10" version. only requires .40-1.00 cubic feet of volume, compared to the 12", which requires .60-1.20 cubic feet of volume.
So now, I'm waiting on my parts(speaker/amp) to come in and will decide on how to build my speaker box, might go the fiberglass route. Waiting for better weather..
Here's a long thread on adding an amp/sub: www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/153662-adding-aftermarket-subamp/
I thought about going this route as well before buying my components: www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/199288-bose-subwoofer-replacement-option/
Here's two other options as well:
www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/192219-lets-see-some-sound-systems/
www.silveradosierra.com/mobile-electronics/upgraded-kicker-system-questions-t289721.html
I almost went this route, but the place I ordered it from, took over a week to even get back to me, so I canceled my order.
Jay P thanks for getting back with me.
No problem Hunter!
Audio is so low
Michael Daniels turn up your volume
I had my amp & lc2 hooked up at a stereo shop and they tapped into the speaker wires at the rear passenger door. Do you think it will affect the sound of the sub by not getting the signal from the factory sub wires?
Did you have any problems with tapping into the rear passenger door?
