Thank you. My mother uses moisturiser before her Retin A and it’s worked for her for years. She just turned 60 but even doctors have questioned if her 'DOB' is correct 😂.

@LM AO You apply the moisturizer before retin a. Put on the moisturizer, wait 10 minutes, then apply retin a. 😀

    • @mave143
      @mave143 4 роки тому

@LM AO I wouldn't use that during the day unless your skin is already used to the retin a. It can really cause irritation.

Love all your information. I am 73, and I'm watching so much on skin care since this summer. I think from listening to you, I'm doing pretty good with my skin care. Retin A every other nite. Double cleanse with light rice oil first, then gentle cleanser. Always always rinse my face in am first thing, then I put on a moisturizing sleep mask. I use it in the am because It is so gentle and I use other things at nite. It feels so good in am. I'm semi retired, so I can leave this mask on for several hours before I double cleanse. I mask probably 3 or 4 times a week. Lots of sun screen, always have done this since in my 40s, and so far, not much irritation or peeling. I am using half strength retin A for now. Started in August. I derma roll every two weeks. I never bleed. I'm using the 1 size needle. I hope I'm doing ok. I also use Vit c serum and coq10 serum. Does it sound like I'm doing ok? Oh yes, always gently exfoliate. Nothing harsh.

Your advice on splashing with cool water and moisturizer skin wet instead of damp has been a game changer for me. My Retin-A was turning my skin into a tight, sore, chapped mess in my cold, dry area of the country. Now my skin is plump and moist and looks amazing. Can’t thank you enough ❤️

My dermatologist in the UK actually recommended buffering the Retin A with moisturiser and HA before using it as part of the acclimatisation process. They also said to take it very slowly introducing it a day per week over a period of time. Also recommended using niacinamide as it helps the Retin A and protects the skin. This seems to accord with what you say above.

Years ago, I started on Retin A and did not stick with it because I did everything wrong. Slathering it on, using too much. Well, fast forward. I started using weaker acids on my face, Retinols with squalane etc. I built up my tolerance to peels and acids and then tried Retin A again, I moisturized very, very well with GOOD products and this time I did not get even one second of peeling or dryness. I'm ready to get more aggressive with my use now. Build up to it, moisturize, it works!

Cody, your accurate, in- depth knowledge, education, and experience proves that your passion is skin care.
Anyone who is using or has used Retin-A should receive all of your tips from the patients prescribing doctor.
Also, applying a liberal amount of SPF 30 or greater from the time they begin Retin-A until the end, is imperative. Whether the patient is applying Retin-A three times a week or once a week.

Hi Cody to my surprise I have been using most of your tricks already just by figuring out my own skin. I have been using Retin A for about 10 months now (0.05%) and have defintely noticed a difference in my skin. I was getting a little irritation about a month ago and started adding a hylaronic acid (Vichy 89) before I apply the RA and it helped. I also apply RA about 3-4 x a week in between adding moisture masks. At bedtime I add a moisture night spa mask and in the morning I have been splashing my face with cold water and massaging my skin with the left over mask and it really helps. Love your tips Cody thank you!!!

I have been watching videos and reading up on retin-A for weeks. I just discovered your channel. THANK YOU! Thank you for your common sense approach. I have very dry skin on top of being 54 yrs old. So this nonsense I have been hearing about DO NOT USE MOISTURIZER with retin-a....was not going to work for me. I am the moisturizer queen. So I was so happy to hear you say moisturize 3 times a day. I can not stand this tight, dry feeling it leaves without some help from moisturizer. So I am relieved. I will now go forward with my retin-a. I have been using retinol for 2-3 years with results, so hoping this will be beneficial. Thank you again....I will be following your channel. Have a blessed day!

Maybe if I could get rid of some of this dead skin on the surface and get to the fresh new skin underneath it and start using a good product it might help me feel just a little bit better about the way I look! I know that looks aren't everything but it would be nice to be able to look in the mirror again and see some of the girl I used to see just two and three years ago! I agree with you in regards to the cleansing brush. I don't use it on my face anymore but I do it on my legs and my feet as the skin is thicker there.
I feel it does more harms than good when it comes to the face.
    Love all your advice!!
Thank God, I already use cool water and I also use more then the pea size amount as my face is bigger and needs more. A pea size amount just doesn't spread it enough for me.
How long does it take to see a huge difference?
I've been using it for six months now and I saw some improvement but not HUGE difference yet.
Is there more that you would recommend?

Fabulous Cody!!! One thing further, that is always well to remember too, no matter what the establishment says about vitamins, negatively, it just isn't true. Meaning: I'm 71, began studying food supplements (vitamins and herbs) at 20. The payback is that I look much, much younger, I am youthful, vibrant and my body is very flexible (daily walking, yoga weights)and have not used any skin products except cleansing with alcohol (oily skin part of the blessing) and a simple foundation. My face is non-wrinkled, but I do have a line beneath the lower lip and a bit on top of lip. I have never smoked, but I understand that these lines for the non-smoker is from brushing teeth and the way one ritually puckers the lips while brushing. Therefore, I've been watching your vids on the approach to lessen these particular areas. Loving the vessel, loving the spirit within the vessel through the various personal self-disciplines, which you are practicing creates the greatest beauty, grace and love, which also emanates through one's skin and vessel. Thank you greatly Cody for the care, love, and beauty you put out to the world!!!!!

Oh my gosh! This is so informative, I'm so glad I found you. New subscriber. I have been wanting to use retin-A but I've been having some challenges with my skin. I was wondering if I can ask you some questions:
    1. Is it okay to wash with soap in the morning with cool water? I normally wash in the morning and at night because the SPF I use during the day will make me break out. Also, I'm so glad for this tip. I always thought you have to wash with warm water to open the pores!
    2. I want to use retin-A but I have been using Neutrogena retinol products( the serum and the highest strength cream) and I find that my skin still gets irritated and flakey with this, so I think I'm not ready for retin-A. I will be fine with using it for several weeks then my skin starts to get angry and painful and I need to stop. I get stinging and everything you would expect with retinol. Maybe I am using it incorrectly and could I transition to retin-A?
    3. I've really just started using retinol very consistently, maybe 4 months ago? I'm 31, and I notice I am wrinkling rapidly, mainly since I started using retinol more frequently/diligently, particularly my crows feet and undereye area. It worrisome because I don't know if I am just aging or if it is the product. Do you have any insight or opinion on this? You mentioned that sometimes people see their skin looking older.
    3. Do you have a recommendation for a gentle wash? I use Neutrogena facial cleansing formula. I've always liked it because it seems clean-rinsing. I'm thinking it may be to harsh.
Thank you so much and I'm glad to have found you!!

I really appreciate all your advice because I just started Rx Retin A for anti aging for the first time last night and by the way my doctor wrote on my Rx to use a moisturizer underneath if needed. I was wondering how I should clean my face this morning but after watching your video I rinsed with cold water and moisturized while dripping wet. Thank you so much!

Thank you for your great information. I have thick, oily skin and am getting frustrated with my RetinA because I haven't had any peeling. I am going to start moisturizing first, I already am using more than a pea size amount. I actually put on 2 layers every second night. I am using the o.o5% and will be getting the 1%shortly so hopefully it will be more effective. Again thank you for sharing your professional advice!

Thank you so much for the tips. I am using prescription Retin A and it seems so drying to my already painfully dry skin made even worse by winter. I tried alternating days and the results have been fantastic. No redness or irritation and imo more noticeable and positive results. So glad I found your video and thanks again.

thank you for this, this was so helpful! in the UK you often get prescribed retinol by a GP who is not dermatologist/specialist when it comes to the skin, so they just give you directions and then leave you to it so i'm having to research what to expect etc. this is the only video i managed to find on youtube that really answered my questions with a proper explanation! thank you again.

Thanks for the information! Im a newbie with retin-A 0.1% and have been moisturizing before putting it on my skin. Im no getting irritated or red lol! before starting I was prepared for the worst. Im on day 4 now. When do you usually start experiencing that irritation or redness?

    • @MontarboSkinCareSanDiego
      @MontarboSkinCareSanDiego  6 років тому

Lyanne Rolon You don’t always need your skin to be red and irritated. Moisturizing your skin before using our RA will minimize the irritation. If you want to get irritated don’t moisturize. But it’s not necessary

    • @MontarboSkinCareSanDiego

SunshineGirl Maybe the work “kill” is not in the best word. But peptides are very sensitive and shouldn’t be used with anything too acidic.

I just realized my vitamin C and niaciminide don’t work well together because they take different “environments” to be most effective. So I now switch them daily because Retin A is my nighttime active. Too many actives can be counter productive.

You do a lovely job explaining things. Although I am a senior lady, no acne, no oily skin, but my share of crinkles ;) would retin-a be a product I should pursue? My forehead divulges my age-

OK, I am confused. If I am currently having no problems using Retin-A, should I ignore this video and your tips?? It sounded like on the alternate nights I am currently using .05 after 6 months with no peeling or flaking, I should use a moisturizer on my skin prior. I never have and have experienced no problems, even though my skin is somewhat dry.
Hope I haven't confused you with my question!!! I love all the advice you give!!!!

Omg!!!!!! I have been moisturizing my skin before using retin-a.. too!!!! And I love it! BUT I also make a mixture of RetinA... AHA...and Salicylic acid all together after instead of just RetinA.. alone and my skin is loving it. It's very effective yet gentle and my skin is not red nor peeling. AND I am using it DAY under my make up and at night after cleansing and moisturizing. Cheers!!!!! And thank you for confirming my routine is safe and sound 😊
