I can answer your electric eel question! So, grossly simplified-nerve signals are basically tiny electrical impulses, right? Electric eels have a hyper-specialized nervous system that lets them simultaneously fire off a shitload of electrical impulses all at once through these specialized organs and cells. It’s cool as hell.

Thats not even the weirdest aspect of their Biology. Let him know about how nobody truly knows how eels reproduce & how no one can find their genitalia. Eels don't grow sex organs until later in life & actually have 5 vastly different life cycles to the point we thought they were different species until recently

I agree with the "neurotypical folks don't pick up on social cues" so much! I have ADHD and play with my hair almost all the time because it's a stim. When another neurodivergent person asks me about it, it takes one sentence to explain. However, when a person that isn't neurodivergent person asks about, it's a 30 minute conversation about me trying to explain that indeed do not have lice and that it's a stim.

As far as the aesthetics of blind ppl go: my uncle was blind and his gf would be like "yo what kinda stuff do you wanna wear?" and he would describe what was fashionable when he was 8 (bc he lost his vision at that age) so basically he's dressing like its still 1978 and occasionally when we were out id be like "Oh this shirt is so nice! its your size!" so he would buy it so I guess he just said fuck it I cant see yall all can decide my aesthetic.

Not the air port, but I worked for a moving company. We would sometimes pack for people. While it wasn't an every day, or even weekly thing, we would see sex toys. I know its not as exciting of an answer, but truth is after a bit we just don't care as much. We obviously don't want to touch them because I have no idea how clean they are. But for the most part after so many times we just chuckle and continue with work. If it's a bigger toy, I might have a bit of a bigger reaction, but I'm probably not gonna really let anyone know. I'm gonna continue on with work.
But if I saw a 28 inch dildo, you bet your ass I'm showing my coworkers. Not gonna shame the person, but at the same time God damn.

    1) I've never done heroin but I got a massive dose of morphine for kidney stones, and I remember lying in the bed being able to see the wall with my eyes closed, and it was both pitch black and perfectly lit, it was cold but I felt perfectly warm and content despite having no blanket, and I could see the wallpaper in the room moving in 3D. It was like in Interview with the Vampire where Louis tries to describe seeing for the first time with his "vampire eyes". It was warm and beautiful and I've never felt more at peace, and then the next day I actively felt like I was dying so I do not recommend it.
    2) I used to have pica as a kid and would eat hard polycarbonate-type plastic, specifically pony beads and the tubes of gel pens (not the ink tube, the outer one), and I never noticed anything in my poop but I guess I never looked that hard 🤷

Well I scrolled down for a good while hoping to find someone answer the Heroin question & NOPE!!! So I guess I gotta be that guy...such an amazing accomplishment of mine huh? Any who....it all depends on a number of things from the quality of the Heroin, your tolerance level, the amount, & the method of usage ex. intravenously, snorting, or smoking, which I've done all except smoking. So normally people feel a wave of warmth & absolute comfortablity...I like to say it feels like you're shivering cold like so cold you're about to die & all the sudden someone throws the biggest most warm blanket over you & brings you inside to their heated home. You're so chill & relaxed you can't even keep your eyes open, which is known as the nods for obvious reasons. If it's your first time then most people actually get nauseous after the initial feeling & throw up, which luckily deters a lot of people from trying again, but the issue with that is most people nowadays use heroin because the doctors cut them off their prescription opiates so they already have somewhat of a tolerance. Honestly it does feel amazing BUT it equally feels just the opposite when you don't have it, if you're addicted. Withdrawals are literally thee worst feeling ever & its not even close. Imagine feeling like you have Covid or the Flu really bad & compound that with having a 24/7 anxiety attack, complete full body restlessness, & literal insomnia & thats Heroin/Fentanyl withdraw. I wasn't prescribed opiates personally but I did start off using pills like Hydrocodeine, Oxytocin, Oxycodeine, Morphine, & the absolute WORST of all Fentanyl. Heroin doesn't have shit on Fentanyl because it's like 10 times stronger. All the overdoses recently have come from Heroin cut with Fentanyl & the bitch of it all is our own government makes it & even pays doctors to prescribe it hints the recent opioid epidemic sweaping the nation. They did the same shit with Oxycontin until they finally shut it down. Oh & I haven't used Heroin in like 4 yrs if you're wondering.

      @nomoretwitterhandles 2 роки тому +16

Hey good on you for being clean of heroin for so long! That's seriously such a good accomplishment!
I've had family members get addicted to heroine for a while and all I remember is the paranoia they went through. It made my home life a living hell, and I wondered what was so damn good about heroin to make it worth fucking up an entire family.
Thankfully everyone has gotten clean and things have been going well for many years now, but I'll never get that time back. This trauma really makes it difficult to even TALK about drugs; even when someone is just joking about them.
Thank you for answering his question about heroin, because at least now I know what could've caused the addiction aspect. I assume the "good" parts weren't what kept people on it, but rather so they wouldn't have to face the negative aspects of withdrawal. At least, that's why one of my relatives is still doing it.
And about the fentanyl thing; that one relative I mentioned (who still does heroin) is also into fentanyl, and I think it's insane how popular it's getting. It's a fucking shame, because even the *tiniest* amount of pure fentanyl can knock someone out. It's dangerous as hell, and I'm fucking furious at our "health care" system for PRESCRIBING IT to people!
Anyways, as I said before, thank you so much for your detailed answer. That does help me cope a little bit.
Congrats on staying off of heroin. Here's to another 4 years! And another 4 after that! (So on and so forth

I'm not diagnosed with anything so I think I'm neurotypical. But I just noticed that people do this when I go out with my new friend.
So we chill in a new public place. It has 2 floors. My new friend ask me to go up to 2nd floor with her. I'm perfectly content with sitting on the 1st floor so I refuse.
She doesn't really make any fuss but then after like 2 hours, I discovered that actually, the reason she wants to go up is because she wanted to look for her boyfriend/crush because they had a fight or something. Idk lol 27 years old single since birth. Can't understand any romantic relationship drama.
First of all, I thought she asked me to hang out just to hang out. It turns out she had a hidden agenda.
Second, why didn't she just said that? I wouldn't refuse if she just directly said that.
I always thought that saying what you actually want to say is a normal human behavior but apparently no. People hide their intention, assume things etc. So complicated. I don't know why they're doing that because I certainly wouldn't. Me and my friend is just always direct with each other. Therefore, no misunderstanding.

Okay! With the yogurt question: yogurt is a dairy product and dairy can actually be really good for your skin and hair!
Yogurt is made by fermenting milk with a yogurt culture, so yeah technically a dairy. But the same way milk soaps and fruit based body washes never "spoil" is cause they have a shit ton of chemicals and conservatives that prevent this. And that's cause they don't actually throw in fresh milk or yogurt into the soap mixtures, through a lot of chemical processes they turn the dairy into a powder that doesn't spoil and then throw that into the mixture
Soaps and body washes usually never use fresh stuff! Its a lot of chemical procedures that's super interesting and fun to learn about

Tattoo artists give price range, because how much it will ultimately be depends on the client: If they move too much, if they take a lot of breaks, if their skin is easy to work with and if they are easy to work with too :) Sometimes, if a tattoo artist had a good experience with their client they will choose to take the lower price, but if the client was an douche they will charge them more. My thoughts on the autism communication thing:
    - Neurotypicals are good at picking up social cues... from other neurotypicals. In my experience as an autistic person and also ADHD haver, soon as something falls slightly out of their usual range of “normalcy” they either intentionally ignore it or get defensive. (Or offensive if you’ve encountered an asshole I suppose)
    - I was definitely a “can’t pick up on social cues” autistic as a kid, but was punished for it and ended up learning to be _pretty good at reading people._ At least when it comes to their tone of voice or facial expressions. Implications in phrasing fly right over my head. (If I get instructions that aren’t detailed enough I will just start crying)
    - There’s a lot to say on the trauma inherent to being neurodivergent in the school system and how most people like me I’ve found tend to be really good at picking up negative feelings but less so for positive ones, how many people can learn the sound of someone’s “lying voice”, etc. but I don’t feel like getting into it.
    - There has been studies on how often people get interrupted in a conversation based on whether it’s between two autistics, two allistics, or one of each. It’s only the last situation in which they interrupt each other.
    - People already say so much confusing shit on a daily basis that I would rather not ask more questions and risk annoying someone. If I can understand enough to let the topic settle, I’d rather do that than upset/inconvenience anyone. (That being said, the example conversation about OCD habits seems pretty easy to understand anyways.)

    • @nomoretwitterhandles
      @nomoretwitterhandles 2 роки тому +1

I'm also only really good at picking up social cues because of a judgmental childhood. I used to not want to speak (not that I never did, but I would get shushed if I was talking about an interest, which is all I ever opened my mouth for), but over time I got judged for not being talkative so I had to learn to talk more. Learning to talk more meant having to learn social cues and what not, so now I read people even better than other neurotypicals. It's pretty wild lol. I can study people's behavioral patterns to judge how they're really feeling at all times. It makes me a pretty damn good listener, which is one good aspect of this thing. I like to help my friends with their issues, so in a way, I don't really mind having to have learned social cues.

Totally agree with everything you said, but I'd add that the part about two autistic people or two allistic people not interrupting each other is obviously a generalisation - me and my gf are both autistic and we interrupt each other all the time, but only from a mutual understanding of 'if I don't say this right now before I go back to processing what you're saying, I will 100% forget it and then spend half an hour getting annoyed that I can't remember it'

Also, I have struggled with drug addiction since I was 17 but was never hooked on heroin. But for me, the first time I did it the first thing I felt was extremely nauseated. After projectile vomiting in my friends bathroom I felt the high and it was like my head was filled with helium and slowly floating away from me and simultaneously like significantly warmer blood was being pumped through my veins replacing my normal blood. But overall, the 1st time was the best and even that was over rated.

Man the neurotypicals rant hit hard, I've started playing a game called "explain what ADHD is without saying ADHD" just to see if NTs will actually respond with anything other than a patronising "yeah well we all get distracted sometimes, just try to focus a bit harder"
Like, I literally have to explain that I have an underdeveloped prefrontal cortex which means my brain can't properly regulate my dopamine and norepinephrine levels, end result being executive dysfunction (which I then also have to explain).
NTs will be like "oh wow that sounds pretty serious, it must be pretty difficult for you" and once I've got them to that point I'll casually say it's ADHD and then revel in the moment as their facial expression changes from genuine concern to a face that reads "you fucker, you've been stringing me along this whole time and you were talking about a fake illness for shitty parents to dose up their hyperactive children"
That facial expression shift nourishes my soul, I fucking love it, it's like carefully building a house of cards specifically for the purpose of blowing it down by farting on it, I highly recommend it
Also, good vid as usual 👍

And electric eels aren't the only electric fish, there are multiple species that evolved it independently from each other. But I guess it's not even that complicated. Okay, over a month later I'm here to explain mayonnaise to a 22 year old. The internet rules.
Mayonnaise is considered one of the five mother sauces in French cooking. Essentially there are five sauces that act as the basis for all other sauces in traditional French cooking. Mayonnaise is one of them, and, yeah, it's egg yolks, oil, and an acid. Yolks are needed as an emulsifier in order to bind the fat molecules in the oil to the water molecules in the acid and yolk itself. Usually it's white vinegar or lemon juice. The acid acts as a stabilizer to keep the mixture from splitting, since oil and water won't mix on their own. The yolks connect the two, and the acid keeps them connected. Super simple, straightforward, really easy to add additional flavours by throwing in diced fresh herbs or whatever.
Modern mayo like Hellmann's contains all kinds of preservatives and stabilizers and other stuff bc traditional mayonnaise does not keep well at all. The popularity of mayonnaise as a spread is likely due to how flavour neutral it is, which makes it super versatile. That's my guess anyhow.
Top tip: if you haven't already, try mixing a couple dabs of hot sauce in with a little ramekin of mayo to use as a sandwich spread or dip for fries or chips.

The bit about people with autism and social queues is spot on. My official diagnosis is OCD, depression and anxiety but so many people have said that I'm probably on the spectrum too. Whenever I need to explain any of my coping mechanism to someone on the spectrum, it's usually fine pretty much straight away. Yet with people who aren't, it's like we're speaking a different language. Maybe it's because people with mental illnesses understand each other better because they can relate it to something from their own lives. With that said though, I have met people with extreme forms of autism and they can be even worse when trying to explain things too. But we're talking about really severe cases, for the most part they're the most understanding.

OK, so as someone who is on the spectrum, I've never actually thought about that thing about picking up on social cues before but I have some thoughts.
I think that neurodivergent people go through a lot of challenges socially (e.g. being called weird or having awkward interactions more often) so we kinda learn through trial and error what's OK and what's not OK more than neurotypicals do, and we also know what it's like to feel uncomfortable when talking about certain things such as habits or behaviours. Also, in the scenario of asking about your hat, it's literally just asking a question and you pretty much covered everything about what you do and why you do it so why bother asking "but why though?". Granted some people might ask for elaboration on things but only so they can understand you better to make you comfortable around them in the future. Also, I recently learned that neurodivergent people tend to communicate better with each other than they do with neurotypicals so maybe being mentally ill would make you neurodivergent in some way too (though I'm not 100% on that last bit). This is just my armchair theory about all this though and I'm not saying this will apply to everyone or be accurate all of the time.

    • @chatnoir9038
      @chatnoir9038 2 роки тому +7

I think you're onto something. We are taught how to mask and change and adapt to others, neurotypicals aren't. That's why they suck with communicating with us. The world is catered to their specific neurotype(s) much more than ours so they never have to learn.

about the social cues thing, i think neurotypicals tend to over-interpret stuff because they are used to speaking “between the lines” or whatever, while ppl on the spectrum particularly tend to be quite direct and just need information and a sound explanation to be satisfied. because we do not intuitively rely on little cues in the same way, we are easier to be up front with a lot of the time, since we usually take you at your word and assume you mean what you say. so in that way its not so much a “neurotypicals are bad at social cues” and more “neurotypicals are so used to speaking between the lines and relying on little cues, and interpretation of those cues, that they often cant deal with direct conversation, and try to over-interpret what is said to the point where it’s like they don’t even listen to the actual words you say sometimes”

Heroin to me was an all-body euphoria. Somewhere between moments after satisfying a vice (nicotine or caffeine are really good examples) and a really intense orgasm. At a certain point it becomes a little overwhelming and i'd lose myself in the euphoria, which sortof peaks at a point of comfort that would nearly drop me to sleep, which is essentially what people call "nodding" (almost falling asleep then jolting awake.) That generally was followed up by a LOT of vomiting..

I loved this video. It made me start thinking about all the questions I always have. The neurotypical rant was fantastic. I have had issues with depression and anxiety since I was 11, and I find it is much easier to speak to people with autism, ADD/ADHD, and other mental illnesses. Many people who don't have to deal with certain issues do lack empathy, patience and curiosity.

BROOO NOT THE SOCIAL CUES THING dude, if anything, I feel like I'm actually BETTER at picking up on social cues than neurotypical people because I will simply refer out of a situation if I don't feel like I completely understand it??? It's like neurotypical people think it's some satanic superpower that I can read situations better than they can. I ended up having to live with my fiance's family for most of 2020 and they were so chill with me explaining I have anxiety problems, I have sensory issues, I have a low social battery, I need lots of patient explanations for things before they can fully click.
But I go to them saying hey, I actually think I'm autistic and this realization is driving my OCD way up the charts so I'm struggling to keep my job and might have to quit for my mental safety, and suddenly noooo, absolutely not, there's no way, only professionals can make that call. Sorry to my future in-laws, but I don't have thousands of dollars to put towards a diagnosis, I didn't even have enough dollars to make rent anywhere, which you know, which is why you were letting me live with you!

as someone with like really bad anxiety, i have certain things i need to do to feel "safe", which can seem really odd to people who dont know me well. so whenever someone new comes over to my house i always have to have the weird conversation of like "hey dont touch that because if its moved ill freak out", "hey sorry dont mind all the meds on my side table" or "yeah im anxious all the time sorry if i just need to randomly leave". people with mental illnesses understand so much better than people who arent

Thank you on the neurodivergent vs. neurotypical thing. I have the same experience talking to normies, they just stare at you vacantly and refuse to understand, then act like you're "wrong" because you couldn't make them understand.

As a girl I can atleast say for myself: yes, I am weirdly proud of big poops I have taken. Did poop probably my biggest one ever recently and all I could think of was the south park episode when Randy won the Record for Biggest Poop ever taken.

As a male I can say that every time I take that one shit that makes you hold on to the side of the sink and pray I feel like I’m in one of those sittt horror movies we’re the main character escapes and he is left all bloody and out of breath as the sun comes up with his girlfriends innards smeared in his eyes. Big old gash in his side as he crawls away. I feel like I am the true survivor

Best I can do for the heroin question is to listen to the song by The Velvet Underground or maybe Funhouse by The Stooges. I’ve never done any drugs but I’ve studied a bunch of heroin addicts just by being a fan of early punk and I feel that both are the closest to the feeling of shooting up without actually shooting up

as someone who is in the spectrum, i can confirm that im not really the best at "being social", since that i don't talk to ppl that often, but when i do, i would usually have small convos and i don't say that much.

As an autistic person with mostly neurodivergent friends, I totally felt that "communication with NTs" section. Ur forced to learn all of these weird social rules to please them & they constantly point out all the ""weird"" stuff you do and then they don't even follow the rules they set up for us!!! I've had NTs literally walk off while I was still talking to them but I'M the one who doesn't get social cues??? Other ND people seem to be more understanding of stuff like that from my experience + it's easier to talk to them

It is normal yogurt!!! Which is even crazier right?? Why is it in soap? It's very nourishing to your skin and has a lot of good stuff. Why doesnt it go bad? More weird it has to do with lye in soap breaking down oils and stuff and yogurt being antibacterial but this comment is already too long hope you enjoy knowing you're not dumb it is normal yogurt!! Amazing video!!

Wasn't the Black Eyed Peas song changed to Let's Get It Started..? I think it was, before it even reached Finland (where I live)...
Also, Molly Burke is a blind UA-camr who likes fashion. But she lost her sight slowly, so I guess it doesn't entirely answer that question.

You're correct! They released a censored version because they got flak for saying "retarded" on a radio track, even back in 2004. The original song has fallen out of circulation.

Honestly, this is a fun and honest video.
Blind people can develop a sense of “fashion” with preferences for certain cloth textures & clothing shapes - color can go completely out the window though when there is no use for visual stimuli.
With the social queues thing: if a person hasnt lived with the concern of not knowing what is socially appropriate, they can completely drop concern for what is appropriate since they know there are minimal repercussions. Folks who know they have an issue tend to be more mindful.
(Thank you for your efforts, my a-typical friends!)
