AWESOME! This will be the real road test for Lenny and looking forward to the reports. As I said previously, I was worried that the A/C was not going to be enough, but you did say you expected to add another. I saw the part where you were behind the Cyber Yuk.. I mean truck. I really hate them.
Seeing Emma walking through the school for the first time made me think, yep she even looks like she should be the principal! Soon I hope!
About the gear not being unlocked. I know it matters not in town but I was wondering if you did get the 6th gear if it would help keep the RPM's down even if you still never went above 55 mph? That would mean better gas mileage for long road trips like this one and easier on the engine maybe? Just wondering how it would be, that's all but I love the attitude about no need for speed so you can take it all in.
Really love the POV in the bus on the road. It really puts us in the seat with you and the wide angle is fantastic!
We leave on June 30th and though we will not be on such a open schedule for our arrivals, we planned appropriate sleep overs in between destinations so we don't fall asleep at the wheel. I LOVE to drive and travel, but I am NOT looking forward to the friggin' 40 out toward Oklahoma. It's really just a lot of truckers, horrible road, nothing and nothing much to see. But we will turn towards Tulsa and that is all new to us so we will see something new.

You'll be surprised at the coming videos, that's for sure! It would definitely help to have the 6th gear unlocked for efficiency all around. That's just an expensive process currently, and we'd be without our TCM for a while, which is a no-go. I need to take it in somewhere to be flashed, though I've called around quite a bit and it's proving difficult to find an Allison shop willing to touch it at all. I hope you guys have a great trip!! I-40 isn't much fun at all, that's for sure!

Nope, it can't beat the radiant heat from the metal (yet)! And it sure seems like it from the amount of photo taking, thumbs up and honks we get. 🤣
55? Man I can't stay below 80 🤣 But then again I am not in a RV or Bus. Be Safe....
FYI even if you get 6th gear unlocked you really won’t gain any MPH gain. Ultimately you may gain some fuel economy but that’s about it. The thing is, at least in my bus, it won’t shift to 6th gear until 64-65ish. I plan on going into the software and seeing if I can make it shift to 6th at like 55
HEY! THANK YOU FOR REMINDING ME!! Who did your unlock, or did you find the code to use the Allison software yourself? I would love to knock mine out myself instead of sending it off.
Also, do you plan on heading to the east coast at all this summer? After i fix the engine I plan on heading up the east coast to Maine (tentatively)
No east coast for us this summer, though Maine sounds lovely! We'll need to be back by August, so not enough time to spend out there.

Thank you for that magnificent scenery heading east. Mother Nature can sure put on a show. First leg of the trip successful capped off with grand view and beautiful sunset, open parking spot for the night with high expectations and relief that you're under way. Please keep the downhill speed in check. Better to take longer getting down under complete control rather than white knuckle experience should brakes overheat and fade or worse. Looking forward to continuing episodes. Safe travels.

@@CozyLivingMachine No but that hint raises concerns. When I was asking Schnauzer club members experienced with diesel pushers, I heard some harrowing stories during descends where brakes were fading to almost nothing and their toad catching fire on that same descend as it's brakes were also way over worked trying to check the speed. Wayne shared diesel-pushers aren't generally equipped with auxiliary breaking systems as semis usually are and the engine compression braking & transmission isn't as effective as gas engine'd. Awful lot to learn on both types in efforts to travel with them safely. I think I read Henderson's Line-Up has brake components that exceed what is usually fitted. I'm assuming they're geared towards Class A motorhomes, probably F53 chassis. You've probably already researched what is out there and who can perform down the road in front of you based on you're computer skills. Stay safe.
Only at 0:53 but I had to say: There are videos on how to unlock it, but I'm saying if they didn't want a sixth gear why did the build it. That's weight you can't even make use of.
Our particular transmission control module has to be programmed with a specific code, unfortunately. You have to have a specific software and the code that unlocks and allows a reflash. Once I can get past that it should be a breeze!
@@CozyLivingMachine I just think its crazy to add something that people cant even use. But yeah getting it unlocked would not only be a speed boost but most likely more fuel efficient.
