    I also switched from the VRS Base to the Simucube a few months ago and I'm absolutely happy with the decision as far as iRacing is concerned!

    Awesome video! Also thank you for bringing uo how many pro drivers do use the slew rate high instead of the mis conception they dont. Some dont but many do. Yall want the information as direct and fast as possible for corrections. Especially realt drivers they are used to all of the information in the car itself since we feel it through the wheel itself it makes sense to get everything you can out of it to make up for feelings we dont get. Def want to get as much information as fast as possible when being at that level. People downplay slew rate but it really is felt and noticable. Its why ill run the invicta at 9nm/ms especially for what I drive.
    I feel asetek and simucube are the two highest level dd wheelbases on the market. Best performance. Even jardier is loving the difference with getting the invicta over his last wheelbase. Hes truely at that level where it matters and hes been more consistent and evenr faster overall hitting a good amount of pb's.
    I loved this video man, thanks.

      Lower slew rate also makes it harder for the wheel to be where the sim wants it to, and you can get oscillations when it is set too low.

    • @reviewforthetube6485
      @reviewforthetube6485 Місяць тому

      Yeah people dont get this. Ive met about 20% of sim racers who believe all filters off is more accurate and slew rate all the way down. Which i find hilarious. All that tells me is they just want to turn in feel a littoe force and thats it. But that isnt realistic. Also people seem to forget the qheel for us needs to relay a little more then real life because we arent actually sitting in the car ao we need to additional information to tell us things. this is why imo its not all about realism@@NielsHeusinkveld

    I have a Simucube 2 Pro and a VRS Direct Force Pro, they are both good. I wouldn't say one is any better then the other, but the VRS is the better buy price wise. The VRS uses the same motor the Simucube 1 used with one of their motors (20nm) MiGE 130ST-M10010. I dont use the quick release that came with Simucube 2 Pro, so I could use the same quick release for both bases.

      Danke. Ich habe leider nicht vor ständig das Rig umzubauen und Platz für ein zweites für solche Zwecke habe ich auch nicht. Dazu zerlege ich mir ja auch für jedes Spiel die Control Settings. Das stünde dem kompetitiven Fahren einfach entgegen. Nicht ohne Grund gibt es von den meisten Simracing Profis kaum oder gar keinen Content. Denke das wird bis auf Weiteres eher nichts :)

    Ultra Low Latency mode is some kind of prediction that can also lead to oscillations in my experience. The reconstruction filter I love, because there is something inherently wrong about how physics engines and input devices work together. That grainy noisy feel and sound you get without the filter are most likely, less realistic than using the filter. I also found it doesn't really add any latency, they seem to have developed a smart system there. The Paddock software I don't like much, bit convoluted, but it works. The software is lacking features I would like to see. Why is there not input vs output curve possible? For rotation, making your own non linear curve in case you like it or to simulate cars with non linear steering racks. Also there is no input / output curve for forces. This I would like as you can then decide how much downforce cars for example add to the FFB as you go faster. Maybe you want to reduce the relative output of higher force requests. Still, it works much better than the Bodnar wheel I had from 2011 to 2020, which had a little bit of cogging and fewer software options.

    Nice video, I have had this base for a few years now and really like it, you do need to play with the settings sometimes to get the feeling you want and I prefer to keep the filtering as low as possible
    360hz on iRacing was interesting and felt good since it released but it introduced bad oscillations in my case with some cars, I had to use more friction and the ULL to 20
    while switching back to 60hz fixed the oscillation, allowed me to reduce the filters and disable ULL as the steering feel even more direct with it disable (you might need to up a bit the recon filter with 60hz)
    Can't wait to try all the updates coming in the next few weeks in the different sims also

    I would say that the FFB effects a sim racer want is not the Newton Meters but the other details that you can derive from real race cars. Despite what has been said DD wheels add the features that make Sim Racing experience immersion a rewarding day. Been with Logitech like forever and can't wait to jump up to 11Nm or better.

    • @TheInsaiyan
      @TheInsaiyan 2 місяці тому +3

      NM can matter tho. For immersion and when using heavy wheel rims or big wheel rims.
      Like the GSI wheels would probably be a bit too heavy for an 8nm base. And a 16 inch round steering wheel for the vintage fans would probably have too much leverage for an 8nm base

    • @gasixteenb11
      @gasixteenb11 2 місяці тому

    The way to compare iRacing 60hz and 360hz is simply to close the Truedrive app. If the app is open then you'll get 360hz from iRacing, if you close the app then you'll be back to the 60hz iRacing FFB.
    Truth is you don't actually need Truedrive open for the wheelbase to function perfectly for most sims, and iRacing is the exception.

I went to my local Micro Center and was able to try the SC2 Pro for the first time and it was a shit ton smoother than my Asetek and I could feel every little detail in the road with the Simucube whereas my Asetek feels almost dead in iRacing. Anybody else have that experience with Asetek? depending when you tried it, it could be as simple as the difference between 60 and 360 Hz. Though, some people mistake the 60hz non smoothened signal artefacts for detail. many content creators (not all!) also are so far off the pace that they don't even understand which info would be needed to understand what the car does - it's an issue and there are only a few really trustworthy sources, Dan Suzuki being one of them.

      depends what you play i'd say. switching between different DD's is usually not necessary unless other factors come into the equation.
      e.g. you want to play iracing competitively, then probably. or you want to have compatibility with certain rims, or you are scared fanatec will cease to exist and your warranty becomes irrelevant and resale value drops.
      but let's say you are playing ACC, you probably wont get faster by switching to any other wheelbase

      @@SimracingPopometer Disagree. Some Coke Drivers used logitech g29s for years coming up and made the series. Wheels have absolutely no bearing on getting to the pinnacle of sim racing. Pedals do that. So no, you dont need a simucube to be competitive. The highest irating driver, for years, used a laptop and logitech g27. He still has the highest irating in iracing. Ty Majeski.

      @FordEntertainmentGroupFEG Nascar is a bit of a different animal. Of course there are fast guys on Logitechs still or have been for long. But you should try downgrading to a logitech coming from a DD - you simply spin. You can't use the old Logitechs as a FFB device. Forces are too small and more importantly, simply too late to catch a spin. You have to use other means to pull the information from the game, which will work until a certain point. But in order to adapt faster, learn quicker, reducing error rate a DD is a completely different ball game.
      Why would pedals matter in Nascar, its just flat out most of the time, no? If anything you want a DD so you can drive more sketchy setups without fearing to die.

It appears that you are not even using the wheel / base to it's potential, I'm not sure there are many sims out there that you really want to utilize 25nm of strength, that is crazy....so to purchase this at it's extremely high price tag for 25nm makes zero sense in my opinion, especially if you are only noticing minor details in the data showing improvement. Moza has a 21nm wheel base that is about $600+ cheaper and is top notch for whatever is thrown at it for racing sims.

      @@SimracingPopometer at a quick glance I'm seeing the SC2 at $1379 US and on Moza website I'm seeing the R21 being $899 so not $600 but close enough haha.

      @@SimracingPopometer Telemetry FFB is much nicer than the usual direct input, makes 60hz iracing better than 360hz, so when VNM and suchlike add 360hz it should be far better....in ACC I have never felt FFB like the VNM gives, new level (for me at least) Even if these new bases coming out from seemingly everyone are only on par with sc2, the pricing of sc2 is obscene, Can get a VNM for a 3rd of the price and better FFB in ACC etc ...no brainer (boosted did a review recently where he agrees it is the best ffb he has experienced, racebeyond said same as well)

      @@CHRISBOGGETT simucube devs has been talking about adding telemetry based ffb for years now, maybe VNM releasing their base pushes to finally doing it, having only accuforce with that weird hybrid stepped motor as the only base with that feature before, they didn't have any real pressure.

      @@f3rny_66 They just need to reduce price by 65% then they will be in the equation again 1000 is much better than 3500 just not a consideration for many as is and now its less so

      thats just a very iracing specific problem. all FFB is telemetry based, it just depends what game developers decide to use of that and what to feed into the ffb. iracing ffb is sub par for a variety of reasons. one is the 60hz still many bases are forced to use, second is that they only put certain information into the ffb, third is that the tire itself is weird and therefor the tire communicates weird information. as long as the tire is not working properly iracing ffb will feel in line with that tire. ffb will automatically be better i assume once the tire is better.
      its wild that basically a lot of simracing hardware development is trying to deal with the fact that iracing has bad ffb
