My Dad and his WWII buddies would be firing at 3rd and Main in half an hour, at 11 am, in our small town, today November 11, 2022. Rest in Peace. We miss you dearly. See you soon!
The University of Illinois Summer Band played the march and used the bell from the Iowa class battleship Illinois laid down but not completed at the end of WWII.
Notice that the conductor almost never actually beat time except when he wanted the audience to start clapping along. He prepared the dynamic changes before the start of each phrase but otherwise got out of the way and let the players do their jobs.
Played the chime part during my concert last month, and really enjoyed it. It’s a much more difficult chime part than it seems, and it’s hard to be accurate for each note, along with being loud enough to be heard from the band. The director wanted me to play louder each time, but it’s tricky being louder as well as accurate for all the notes haha. The percussionists did a great job!
Great piece, but the conductor was exceptional! It's hard to get a sense of how delicate Sousa's pieces are when you know them only from your local high school marching band because there are little or no dynamics to their performances. He got it all just right.
Que bonito es escuchar esta melodía los felicito desde mi hermosa patria Chilena un abrazo muy grande a todos ustedes qué dios les bendiga siempre Soledad Rayo ❤🎉
You must be a student musician! These men and women are professionals with Masters degrees and PhD in their instrument! They would not be in any special band of any branch of US military bands! PERIOD!!!
And now for something completely different.
We get that reference! 👍🏻
Monty Python, where are you?

Exactly. And all that's missing is the occasional well timed raspberry! 😉 Lol

Beautiful and great March.. I love so much this piece of music so wonderful to hear you all.. thank you the United States Army Field Band .. ❤️
My brother in law was a tenor soloist with the Army Field Band many moons ago.
I live in Greece and I go to a music school and we play this march everyone loves it.
Percussionist in the center of the screen starting around 0:07 must be a Python fan. You can see him suppressing a smirk.
Thank you for the wonderful March played by you.

Lovely. Reminds me of a summers day in a park watching a brass band playing. Many moons ago when I lived in London.

This march had me pining for the fjords.
No it doesn't. 😉😁
Pining for the fjords? What kind of talk is that?
No, it hadn't, it had you pining for the fjords.
ive been looking for this song for half a FREAKING year, absolute banger
I played this in 8th grade Honor band and it was my first encounter with 6/8, fell in love with this march because of 1:36.
A rousing and beautiful tune. My late Father’s favourite ♥️
Seu compositor Sousa de origem portuguêsa----sabia ?
I didn’t know that. Thanks for informing me 👍
The timbre and resonance from those chimes are so full. It’s not too loud or soft it’s perfect. Awesome job to the player.
I enjoy this beautiful music !
Thank you very much!
I never wanted to be a musician! I,.... I,.... I always..... wanted to be........ A LUMBERJACK!

One this is missing ... Terry Gilliam!
I’ve got the original Lakeside record of this March from around 1905 or so… and this fine Army band still nails it 120 years later!
2:53 my favorite part cause of the director looking like he’s having the time of his life
Che splendore!!

_I love to see them use👐 “hand movements” to conduct an orchestra🎶I think it adds a little something extra_
The Monty Python Souza Marche.
Monty Python's Flying Circus... Nice to hear the whole song for once minus all the distractions.
Why?
Well Done!!!
It's Monty Python's Flying Circus!
Just learned that the Monty Python theme song is actually this! Mind is blown!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Super!!!!!!!!!!
I love it! Greetings from Germany ❤️
I'm not American, so everything I hear is the PS1 "Hogs of War" Videogame's Main Theme.

I want to see them marching to Liberty Bell by J. P. Sousa. Aka Monty Python Theme. 😅

De Sousa de origem portguesa .
Wow... Um.... The Conductor has... Very interesting conducting techniques.. 😅

Where was this concert performed? I don’t recognize the hall.
Masonic Hall in Scranton, PA.
God Bless the LIBERTY BELL!
It's.......
The bell isn't loud enough 😂
It’s almost deafening in person, we assure you! The mics just didn’t pick it up this particular night.
No doubt true… but the original record in 1905 picked it up loud and clear and will blow you away even 120 years later.
God Bless our Military 🪖 🙏 and our country. Thank for the awesome music.
I wonder how this would sound with Lili Marlene mixed in.
Funny how no one in the band tried not to laugh.
Hogs of war game on ps1
The entire ensemble did a great job except for the bell player. Seemed like he wasn't certain when to strike.
I think you're mistaken.
