  • March 2020 Treadmill Desk Update:
    After using this treadmill, the motor only lasted a month. I've now upgraded to a LifeSpan TR2000-DT3 after asking if the Treadmill Desk Store company if they'd give me a little PR discount as I knew I had to update these links. It is MUCH better for the job and I will be sharing my slight desk adjustment very soon:
    www.thetreadmi...
    Last week, I decided to put an end to being on my bum almost all day as part of my job. You may have heard the line floating about that sitting is the new smoking. So, I decided, for 2020, that I'd make my own DIY treadmill desk.
    The total spend was £264, excluding tools. I've tried it two days in a row and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I've reached 20k steps each day and I was still able to do all my usual desk work... replying to emails, messages and editing this entire video on there too!
    However, I've read it's not for some people regarding multitasking. I was worried about that too, but I've only been doing 1kmph and occasionally 2. And already, I can tell my thighs are toning up.
    Anyway, here's a list of what I used. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases made through links
    Note, I'm 5"4 if that gives you an idea about this design and treadmill:

      Sorry to hear about the motor not lasting. The link to the new platforms look easier to set up, now some of us are working from home it could be a good thing, I'll have a look to see if I can do the same thing. Love your videos, keep up the good work and please keep your and your family safe. x

      Thanks, @@wayne6220 . Yes, it was a bummer and I spose the saying is, you win some, you lose some. But it was probably good that I made a DIY version first to understand this set up really was for me, because I definitely wouldn't have paid nearly 1k from the offset.
      Also, LifeSpan desks cost as much as the treadmill itself, so I've still saved half the money. I use it every day and don't regret it at all.
      Let me know how it goes if you do make something similar around it 😊

      Hi there. Thanks for sharing. I'm thinking of doing a DIY standing desk treadmill with plans to buy a regular treadmill but I heard that using regular jogging/running treadmills to walk at low speeds for long periods burns the motor? Was this a factor in why the motor became faulty and will your new one last long?

    • @TheCarpentersDaughterUK
      @TheCarpentersDaughterUK  4 роки тому

      @@mobk9774 Yes, I believe so. It started to develop a smell. I kept silicone-oiling it daily and it the motor still became faulty.
      I looked on so many Amazon listings where people said the manual for even the ones called under-desk treadmills were considered high use for 3 hours a week. I do WAY more hours at my desk than this! I've now upgraded to a LifeSpan TR2000-DT3 after asking if the Treadmill Desk Store company would consider giving me a little PR discount as I knew I had to update these links anyway. It is MUCH better for the job and I will be sharing my slight desk adjustment video very soon:

      Thanks! I agree! Hate getting ready for the gym, leaving my dog... I don't like wasting time going to the gym either.
