    I never imagined anything this big, made out of wood could be built with such precision. You are an inspiration to me, as I am building an airplane out of wood, with much less precision.

      Hi Panu, this extreme precision takes a lot of time and I ask myself how big the benefit of that is vs. costs. I‘m modifying and refitting my Shark 24 and did some measurements, to find out the boat is not at all symetric, like off by a lot compared to your standards, we‘re not talking millimeters here, we‘re talking centimeters! Think of the 80/20 rule: it takes 20% of time to get to an 80% result and 80% of time to get these last 20%.

    • @ArcticSeaCamel
      @ArcticSeaCamel  Місяць тому +1

      😀 That’s kind of a lot I think!
      But in my case the precision pretty much comes from the CNC-cutting. There’s really not very much manual labour involved- which is kind of the point.
      But also I try to maintain the precision in good level to be able to fit additional CNC-cut parts later as well!
      Also, I’ve never built a boat before so I don’t really know what’s important and what is not! 😅

      @@ArcticSeaCamel I know from how I work, when I set on a certain amount of detail / precision, it‘s very hard to let this go. But, you also like to finish some time 😉 So yeah it might be worth taking some time to think on how much precision is needed… wood is very workable and as you said in the video a few minutes of sanding can get things to fit perfect where keeping CNC precision throughout the whole built, takes much more time 😉 Don‘t get me wrong, I‘m not advocating taking short cuts, just consider if the method is really helping or maybe slow you down to much…

    Nice! Btw, put your scale in a plastic bag. One spill can destroy the hole thing and handling it with sticky fingers could also destroy it.

    Nice Work! I always had a problem with too much epoxy and tried to come up with some uses for the small amounts I had left over. I made a few coasters and quite a few different shapes to use as spacers, or shims. One idea I had would be for you to have or make a silicone mold of your logo / boat that you could give or sell to your supporters. Keep at it!

    • @ArcticSeaCamel
      @ArcticSeaCamel  Місяць тому +1

      😃 that could be something!
      But I’m currently building an epoxy distribution machine that could make it much easier to make small batches.

    If I could make two suggestions, first put a reference mark somewhere on your building. That way you can always find level on the boat, i.e. the building reference is 250mm above your rub rail notch. Second, while gluing up your frames, while you are there with thickened epoxy, put your corner fillets in.

    • @ArcticSeaCamel
      @ArcticSeaCamel  Місяць тому

      Hi!
      Now when the frame is fixed in place, I don’t really need ref line marked anywhere. Maybe later when planking starts to go in.
      As for the fillets. I thought about that but I decided to make them when doing the fiberglass so that they will conform perfectly underneath and wouldn’t need to be sanded prior to that.
      Not sure if everything really needs fiberglassing but I’d like to protect all the wood surfaces well nevertheless.

    Great video! You have interesting things to convey and you have good music. But like so many other UA-cam producers, the music is at an excruciatingly high level when you have the volume set just right to hear what you're saying.
    Why is that? 🇸🇪😄😀💕
