Say David, can you hear this music resembling a prototype of the sound Billy Idol got with Rebel Yell? The prechorus I believe especially with Geoffrey Downes doing the work it out backing vocals resembles Rebel Yell

The Age of Plastic is one of those rare nearly perfect albums where almost every single track is amazing. The Buggles were way ahead of their time. Technopop, Johnny On the Monorai, I Love You Miss Robot, just perfect.
I was talking to Bruce Woolley, the co-writer of this song and he mentioned that that lyric is both a condemnation of war while also being a jab at the record industry. Good stuff!

Wonder if this could've been a hit with a bigger production video? Great to see it after all these years though. Liking the lo-fi colours and Trevor's outfit though.
Most people and radio stations lazy journalism only know BUGGLES for "Video killed the radio star" obviously never listened to their classic lp "The age of plastic" of which "Clean clean" is a classic 😎👍.
This is great thanks for uploading some Music Video of The Buggles. I wish these Music Videos gets more views and attention like The Video Killed The Radio Star got.
Trevor horn is the reason why I put a bunch of stickers up in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that just say, “The Buggles we’re an underrated band.” This is the hill I am willing to die upon.
I've always loved this song. This is the first time I've ever seen this video for it (the only one I'd seen before for this song was a "Top of the Pops" appearance), and it's a real treat. Another great entry from one of my favorite groups.
Wow Never seen this and i even went to Trevor Horns Princes Trust tribute in 2004 Slaves to the Rhythm one of tbe best concert ive seen live and at Wembley Arena A great show to the music producer who pioneered the 80s right up to now with his exclusive talent
Thank you for uploading this. Through the years I must have listened to this song a thousand times. I have both Buggles albums and many times I have wished they had done a third. Every song is a gem.
Trevor Horn and Geoff Downes. Absolutely wonderful Technopop / Art Pop. Unfotunately thery didn't really succeed as Buggles after their catchy hit single "Video Killed the Radio Star" from 1979. What a shame. But then they became immortal as members of Yes (album "Drama" from 1980) and all their great work in the 80's.
Am 24 years old I discovered this song on a friend's coffeeshop. My friend has a vinyl with this song 🍻🙌🏽 cheers fuck yeah I love that fuckin song 🫡🙌🏽♥️
Wow! Another Buggles video in film instead of video tape! I always thought Video Killed Radio Star was only Buggles video in film while others were video taped!

Trevor Horn is a genius. Everyone who loves music needs to know about this man
Yeah, he's an awesome producer and musician
Equally as important Geoff Downes check out his extensive work with Asia
Ha ha
I totally agree with you man

The riffs at 2:28 and 3:19 are the GOLDEN parts of this song.
The first one is definitely making a liberal borrowing of Into The Hall of the Mountain King.

It’s too bad they only released two albums before joining other legendary bands. The Buggles were unique and both guys are multitalented.
Great quote from Trevor Horn, "we were pop stars that became rock stars'
Their 2nd album was actually released after Drama (and it was mostly a TH project)
Have a listen to the Suburban Ghosts album by DBA - a Downes project. It’s magic all the way through

The Buggles had so many bangers! They are far from a one hit wonder in my book!
Love the Buggles and the datedness of these music videos is hilariously fantastic
Seriously unique music style too.
nah this music video is futuristic
"Lost a million in the very first attack".... totally chilling; what an incredible lyric.

Happy 70th Birthday, Geoff Downes! Both Buggles now in their 70s. :)
Imagine seeing men now in the 70s back then played video games.
Hans Zimmer was in the Buggles and he is the only Buggle who is still in their 60's, He just turned 67 Thursday.
That moment starting at 2:28 is really amazing, a real treasure in this horrific year
Nice to see another music video from this band!
