I’m originally from the PNW and there’s not many accessible small towns left. Kettle falls seems like a nice place to live. It looks like a great place to feel at home again.

Kettle Falls was named for the nearby Falls on the Columbia River before Grand Coulee Dam was completed in 1941. The rocks over which the falls tumbled resembled kettles to settlers, and for thousands of years it was the prime salmon fishing spot for the local Indian tribes, as well as for tribes who traveled to fish there, such was the reputation of the place. The original Kettle Falls town was located on the river, downstream from the falls, and the current town of Kettle Falls was known as Meyers Falls, named for another waterfall on the Colville River, just south of town. Some of the houses were moved up from the old Kettle Falls town site to the current town before it was flooded by the dam; I lived in one of those houses. The City council for Meyers Falls voted to rename it Kettle Falls. Just a little history of the area for you.

Accurate history. I spent every summer from the mid 80s to late 90s in kettle and Spokane.

Glad you enjoyed it! I used to live in SoCal, it has alot of beautiful areas but it is to expensive and crowded for me.

I imagine you drove up it right after this video ended, but Sherman Pass just to the West of you is a beautiful drive in between KF and Republic. The fall is unbelievable when the Tamarack trees are gold. Only negatives of the pass is it’s tough on RVs and trucks do to the brutal ascent/descent and the deep snow in the winter, and it closes sometimes.

Yep, I stopped at the rest area at the top, it was very nice. It was interesting to read about the past fires in the area. I will have to try and get back in the fall, sounds spectacular :)
