I appreciate you going over the logistics involved with your fleece jacket, I can tell your products are measured and suitable for the coldest and worst environments out there. Keep up the good work!
Great information. Which would you say is the more efficient fabric between the outer facing grid (Melly) or the inner facing grid (R1)? Do you have a preference from your research?
Guessing you mean warmth for the weight? This isnt really a fair question. Grid fleece is a microfleece for casual wear. Power Grid is an performance active insulation that is designed to wick moisture and release excess heat. Grid Fleece is more comfortable/softer and warmer when stationary. Power Grid is much more comfortable when exercising. Alpha Direct is the warmest for weight performance active insulation but will not keep you warm when stationary.
I have an original Melanzana and an LL Bean grid fleece. Both keep me warmer than any of my other hoodies. I wear the LL Bean more because it is a full zip. The Melanzana is the best hoodie ever invented. And LL Bean no longer makes the full zip grid hoodie. Ugh!
I don't understand the grid stuff. Hold it up to the light and you can see through it. I have a grid fleece beanie. Not warm on its own. I have used it under another beanie.
Power Grid is active insulation meaning its intended as a heat regulation layer when exercising. Its highly breathable to allow excess heat to escape. Wind will cut through so adding a windshell provide a versatile layering system.
Sorry for the vertical video. Originally set out to make a short but ended up having more information to present.
