- Got an "Open Box" JVC monitor on ebay. Aside from the most minor of shipping damage (where one of the styrofoam corner thingies broke apart), it arrived fully intact. I turned it on and it has one hour of use on it according to the service menus.
I filtered the 15.6KHz noise from the monitor out of this video. But my camera did pick it up loud and clear. I did no editing other than just concatenating clips together.
I am disappointed about the scuffs from the shipping in one of the corners (photos from the auction show that it didn't have the scuff when it was shipped out). But at the end of the day it's nothing life-ending. - Наука та технологія
New old stock is always a fun to see!
It was an impulse buy, and it's unfortunate that it now can't be new old stock anymore, but it's good that I bought it because my Apple IIe composite color monitor started dying while it was on the way. Unfortunately it seems totally undocumented what kind of flyback transformer the IIe monitor uses (because Apple), so my hopes of repairing it are low for the immediate future.
This is basically a better substitute, though. It has S-Video and composite video, as well as multiple inputs, while the IIe monitor only has composite. There's a mod I can do with an Arduino or ATTiny microcontroller to make this one use a notch filter instead of a comb filter (to make it like the IIe monitor), and if I do that then it should be essentially a straight upgrade (Comb filters are better than notch filters for interlaced video, but worse than notch filters for 240p video. Comb filters introduce weird color blending on the edges of solid objects in 240p.

@@wyatt8740 You could always just repack it and pretend it's never been opened every couple of years! 😉 My dad built a Heathkit tv before I was born but it lasted a long time and I remember him working on it. That got me interested in videos of people fixing old tvs and stuff. I one day may try my hand at it too... But your thought sounds awesome with that mod!
@@f.k.b.16 I've always wanted an unassembled heathkit TV. Saw an assembled one around ten years ago at my first job in a back room, which was cool, but not as cool as building one would be.

I baited them out of the box with some old food and then shipped them all off to Twitter headquarters with Elon's name on the label.

Does it show a black and white picture? Or does it show something scrambled? Does it not show anything at all?
